Taurus is the latest company to introduce a micro-compact pistol for self-defense and concealed carry, the GX4. And they’re doing it with a ton of support with a full line of upgrades and accessories with the help of big names like Crossbreed and Trijicon among a host of others.

Micro-compacts are a new class of small pistols that blur the lines between sub-compacts and single-stack handguns that are just a tiny bit larger than single-stacks with ammo capacities that rival their double-stack alternatives. These pistols, including the SIG Sauer P365 and the Springfield Armory Hellcat, are quickly becoming the hottest sellers across the nation.

The GX4 falls right in line with the rest with a 3-inch barrel and a standard capacity of 11+1 rounds of 9mm Luger with flush magazines. The GX4 can carry 13+1 with extended magazines and, of course, 10-round mags are available for select markets. Each pistol ships with two 11-round or two 10-round magazines.

Like the bulk of the current crop of micro-compacts, the GX4 is a polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol that weighs in at just over 18 ounces unloaded. It measures in at around 6 inches long, 4.4 inches tall, and just over 1 inch wide.

One thing that Taurus has made clear is that they want to make sure the GX4 launch nails it, and it’s not just that they’ve worked with a bunch of top names in the industry to provide GX4 owners with all the accessories they could need without having to wait a while. Taurus is using quality materials and finishes with the GX4 that are not typically found with some other more affordable designs.

The GX4 is offered in all black with a black reinforced polymer frame, a slide assembly with a black nitride finish, a barrel with a black DLC finish, and internal components with nickel and Teflon finishes. The frame is modular and comes with two different size backstraps to suit a wider range of shooters comfortably.

The sights are standard steel white dot sights and the GX4 has a trendy flat-faced trigger with a passive trigger safety. The GX4 does not come with a manual safety but it does feature an internal striker block and has a loaded chamber port for effortless chamber checks. It uses a single-action striker which will help deliver a clean trigger break.

And Taurus is offering the GX4 at a very friendly price of $392. On top of that, extra magazines run $36 and real-world and online pricing for Taurus products is often even less than their suggested prices, which leaves a lot left over for holsters, extended magazines and more.

Taurus has already set up a full accessory page for the GX4 with night sights and fiber optic sights from companies including Ameriglo, Trijicon, Truglo and XS Sights. They also have holsters from Crossbreed, Mission First and UM Tactical, along with other accessories like red and green Viridian laser sights, range bags and cleaning kits.

This is a big launch for Taurus, and the market could not be more hungry for these skinny little pistols that pack a lot of ammo. And with Taurus’ pricing, people can try out the GX4 without breaking the bank.

Why? Following your logic on another thread, you don’t “need” one.
