Who needs another new home-protection and defense shotgun? I’m glad you asked! How can this one be any better than what’s already out there? That too, is a great question.

This new hot-rod semiautomatic shotgun has been totally redesigned and over-engineered by the good folk at Savage. At the core of the Renegauge is a new “D.R.I.V. System (pronounced ‘drive’) that utilizes dual pressure relief valves and a short-stroke piston to cycle the action reliably between shots, almost independently of the power of the shell fired.

The Choke Hold uses a patent-pending set of sleeves that are designed to delay shot dispersal and increase the shell’s effective range. The shell does not require a choked barrel, and the company claims it causes less wear on equipment.

The European American Armory Corporation, or EAA, just announced their newest competition-ready semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun, the MC312 Sport.

In 3-gun matches, shooters use a rifle, a pistol, and a shotgun. Any of the three present challenges, but loading a shotgun quickly tends to be a skill that separates those who win from those who do not.
