An updated study from the Crime Prevention Research Center has found that, contrary to former President Barack Obama and the rest of the mainstream media, mass public shootings occur at much higher rates in countries outside the U.S. and these rates have been increasing in recent years.

When Kansas City resident Benjamin Seadorf heard “blood-curdling” screams coming from the street outside his home, he didn’t hesitate to step in and help. Leaving his own four children in the house, he grabbed his Smith & Wesson M&P chambered in 9mm and ran outside. He found a woman being beaten and strangled in her car with her three small children watching from the back seat.

A South Carolina woman used her handgun last week to defend her home and her three sleeping children against a burglar who had broken into her front door. Security camera footage shows Cecil Charles Parnell, 43, along with an unidentified woman, attempting to break into the home owned by Ashley Jones. Jones told WSPA she heard banging on her front door and two people speaking on the porch.

To Mel Bernstein, owner of Dragon Arms in Colorado Springs, storing an AR-15 in a synagogue is as common sense as any other safety measure. And in the wake of a massacre in Pittsburg that left 11 Jews dead, he’s putting his money where his mouth is. “I don’t really like what’s going on in the country,” he told KOAA. “And I’m offering them a free AR-15 rifle with two magazines and 100 bullets.”

An Alabama man is being hailed as a hero after he used his concealed firearm to stop a masked gunman at a McDonald’s in southwest Birmingham. The suspect entered the restaurant on Saturday night around 10:45pm just after it had closed, according to local media. He gained access by entering just as an employee was unlocking the door for a father and his two sons to leave. The suspect opened fire as soon as he entered, but the father drew his own concealed weapon and returned fire.

A father in Bloomfield, Ct., used his handgun to save his daughter from a neighbor who was attempting to rape her, local media reported last week. Maurice Gordon saw his 30-year-old daughter being attacked by one of his neighbors, Michael Farrigon, 43, while the woman was parked in the driveway of Gordon’s home. Farrigon approached the car, opened the door, and said he wanted to rape her.

“There is no way to undo the life-shattering harm that Mr. Dunn caused, but we are pleased with the grand jury’s decision for such an unnecessary and egregious use of deadly force,” said the attorney.

A Florida man is dead after allegedly trying to steal a hatchet, shot dead by a store owner who also happens to be a local official. Footage of the shooting was released this week by police.
