With a 6″ bull barrel and chambered in 10mm, it’s a reasonable choice for those who choose to hunt with a handgun. The long barrel maximizes bullet acceleration and its weight helps mitigate the effects of recoil. It’s a handsome firearm in two color configurations, two-tone black and bronze, or tritone black and bronze with a grey slide (pictured here). And yes, it’s only available in 10mm.

Thureon Defense’s 10mm Carbine is NOT An AR15!
BY Clay Martin Published: April 18, 2019 { 40 comments }It has been an excellent year for us 10mm Cultists, our cartridge of choice has grown by leaps and bounds. New guns, a gaggle of new factory loads, and an upswing in popularity have made 10mm more available than ever. With so many options, I felt compelled to write a post on alchemy write a review of available factory ammo and how it performed in the real world. A test like that requires, obviously, a gaggle of available pistol barrel lengths. But in my opinion, it should also be done from a carbine, as the 10mm gains so much from a rifle length barrel. So I went looking for one. And to the lasting shame of the firearms manufacturing world, I found very slim options.

Springfield Armory XD(M) 10mm Unboxed at the Gun Counter
BY True Pearce Published: December 6, 2018 { 14 comments }Springfield Armory has worked some engineering magic in the new XD(M) 10mm by not increasing the size of the grip while delivering a capacity of 15+1 rounds with a flush fitting magazine. The 10mm round shoots flatter and faster than a 45 and comes in bullet weights ranging from 135 to 220 grains making it [...]

The Story Behind the SA XDM 10mm, 10,000 Round Test
BY Clay Martin Published: October 10, 2018 { 28 comments }When the new XDM came up, I asked Springfield Armory if they were ready to dance. Not only did they say yes, but they knew a good ammo guy. My proposal was 10,000 rounds, every round shot on camera. That is a huge risk for a new gun, and I had no way of knowing if it would survive.

Finding Leather Holsters for Hand Cannons (My Springfield Armory 10mm 1911)
BY Clay Martin Published: June 5, 2018 { 11 comments }My holster came with a retention strap, though a full cover flap is also an option if you’re really worried about protecting the pistol from the elements. For a backcountry gun, the extra security of the retentions strap is worth the slight penalty in speed. And if you need to get ready for the O.K. Corral, it is easy to move it out of the way.
Springfield Armory Heavy Operator 10mm w/RMR
BY Clay Martin Published: May 12, 2018 { 8 comments }Improving on initial success, Springfield Armory is introducing a new variation of both models. Now, you have the factory option of the Heavy Operator with an RMR pre-installed, cut deep into the slide. I predict another big win, this is the perfect set up for a 10mm 1911.
