Stern Defense’s Hybrid 2-Stage (H2S) trigger was developed with pistol caliber carbine and defensive shooters in mind. The H2S bridges the gap between “Mil-Spec style trigger groups and high-speed low drag competition triggers,” according to Stern.
PCC triggers are not like regular AR triggers. The bolt and recoil systems are different and the stresses on the gun are very different. The trigger must be rounded and even with that, there is a lot of drag as the bolt rides over the hammer. The H2S solves these problems.
The H2S is a direct drop-in replacement for your existing trigger and has endured a 250,000+ round torture test without failure. It features a smooth 2-pound, first stage, leading into the positive 4-pound second stage that ends with a crisp break and predictable reset, says Stern.
Light triggers are associated with light springs and reliability issues. With the H2S duty spring in place, gone are the days of inadvertent bump fires and failure to reset that plagued PCCs, Stern says. The high reciprocating mass on pistol caliber carbines makes light poundage, short reset triggers problematic.
The H2S comes with two trigger springs. The factory installed spring on the H2S is optimized for use with pistol caliber carbines. But if you’re using the H2S trigger on a rifle caliber, Stern includes instructions to easily swap to the 3-3.5-pound green spring.
The H2S does not disappoint. It is high quality, dare I say it? It is pretty, too.
After 500 rounds, I have nothing but praise for the H2S. The crisp two-stage trigger makes precision much easier. A smooth pull, reset in recoil, drive the dot to the target, smooth pull. Pew, pew, pew!
