When companies like SilencerCo launch news in the summer, as they’ve done for the last few year, SHOT Show (at least in their booth) can be anticlimactic. Not this year. While they didn’t make any earth-shattering announcements, we now have much more information on the SilencerCo Maxim 9 handgun.
They originally debuted a working concept gun at their Maxim Vice industry media event, but most of the details about the gun were still up in the air. We knew there would be an update on the design, but we had no idea just how far this gun had come. We now have hard details on the Maxim and it is looking more and more promising as the design continues to near production.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Maxim 9, it is a new pistol being developed by SilencerCo that incorporates an integral (and modular) suppressor into the pistol’s frame. Designed to bridge the gap between service guns and range toys, these pistols are built to high standards. They will be supported at launch with holsters as well as an optional light laser device.
Looking at the Maxim’s features, you can see the birth of a whole new concept. The pistol has a modular suppressor built into the frame of the gun, which allows the user to remove baffles like you would on the Salvo 12 and Micro Osprey. The next new feature is that the gun has ambidextrous slide releases as well as a reversible magazine release. Lastly, and nearly as important, is that the Maxim uses Glock 17 magazines and sights.
This thing is more than just a prototype. This is a design that is nearing production. Besides the 3D printed frame, it is hard to tell that this gun isn’t already in production. Though this gun may look like something out of a science fiction film, you can clearly see that SilencerCo is building this gun to be a tool for law enforcement, civilians, and quite possibly the military.
We will keep you up to date as we eagerly await the pistol’s release.

This has me in hyper lust!
If they make these in 45acp using glock 21 mags and they de-nfa suppressors I will take a 2nd mortgage and camp on their doorstep like the I-phone
Freaks I point and laugh at.
Talk about the perfect HD gun!!!!
It will be great when the ATF finally allows noise suppressors (silencers) and agree they are actually “legal” to own without a $200.00 penalty. I would love to go to my indoor and outdoor ranges without having to wear both ear-plugs and ear-muffs to quite the shots so my hearing is not damaged.
I believe the day is coming, in the not too distant future, when we’ll all have reasonable access to this superior hearing saver. We need to keep up the good fight and convince the rule makers to let us protect our hearing by any and all means.
Well, on a positive note; if you ran out of ammo in a self defense situation, you could always beat the bad guy to death with it.
I’m telling! They stole Robo-Cops gun!!!
I think they took the concept of form before beauty a bit too far
it is very ugly and God knows we don’t need more ugly guns
I own one of their silencer, they build them well, they should stick to that…
Think I’ll just mount a shoebox on my 1911. Lol! Pass.
You realize this is by far the most innovative handgun design in at least 30 years, right?
How’s that Evan? By using a target pistol type of fixed barrel operating system? By making the suppressor integral? Neither are new.
I want , at least one of these. I do like getting a matched holster.
