Senate Democrats ended a filibuster that ran for more than 14 hours as word spreads that key Republican senators agreed to consider new gun-control legislation as amendments to the upcoming spending bill. The use of mental health records as part of background checks are expected to be voted on as well as a “no-fly, no-buy” policy for people on terrorist watch lists.

Legislators have been calling for increased gun control for several years especially in the wake of prominent shootings, however, it’s not likely that these additions to existing gun control law would have had any effect on them. Still, they are perceived as easy fixes and have bipartisan support. Other legislators and the president are still calling for “assault weapons” bans as well as magazine capacity limits.

The vote on new national gun control could take place as early as today, limiting the amount of time for voters to engage with their representatives on the matter. Politico reports that that the currently-proposed package is “doomed” although they also said that some Republican senators may agree to lesser gun control changes and are in favor of linking mental health records to federal NICS background checks. The mental health concession was proposed by Ted Cruz of Texas, said Politico.

Two Republican-sponsored bills have been proposed by John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). Cornyn’s proposal may have the support of the NRA. Toomey’s proposal is supposed to be all-new, not to be confused with his previously-unsuccessful gun control package. The Wall Street Journal confirmed that Toomey is working with anti-gun group Everytown for Gun Safety.

“It’s time to get something done here,” said Toomey. “Everybody ought to be in agreement in principle: we don’t want terrorists to be able to walk into a gun store and buy a gun, and we don’t want an innocent, law-abiding citizen to be denied second amendment rights because he’s wrongly on the list with a bunch of terrorists. This is not rocket science to figure this out.”

Toomey’s proposal is aimed at the so-called “terror gap,” and is expected to ban people flagged on federal watch lists from purchasing firearms legally. However, legislators on both sides of the aisle have criticized watch list restrictions, pointing out that they circumvent due process. The no-fly list has been put down over false-positive cases and the overall secret nature of the program. Gun rights and civil rights groups have knocked the list over its spotty track record and difficult appeals process.

The NRA-ILA has questioned the use of watch lists as a way to restrict gun sales. “The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period,” said executive director Chris W. Cox. “Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale, and arrest the terrorist,” said the National Rifle Association in a statement.

“At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed,” explains Cox.

Even Slate Magazine has come out against tying gun ownership to the no-fly list. “If the government can revoke your right to access firearms simply because it has decided to place you on a secret, notoriously inaccurate list, it could presumably restrict your other rights in a similar manner,” writes Mark Joseph Stern. “You could be forbidden from advocating for causes you believe in, or associating with like-minded activists; your right against intrusive, unreasonable searches could be suspended.”

Still, legislators are desperate to increase national gun control following years of failed attempts. “I can’t tell you how hard it is to look into the eyes of the families of those little boys and girls who were killed in Sandy Hook, and tell them that—almost four years later—we’ve done nothing. Nothing at all,” said Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) who lead the filibuster.

Murphy ended the filibuster after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) agreed to come forward with votes for the two proposed bills.

Gun right activists say “contact your representive so they can hear from you” and I used to believe in due process, but here in CALIFORNIA we have a one party system with Feinstein and Harris as our senators. Their standard formletter if they reply is “While we disagree with your stand, I’m really glad you took the time to contact me”. These representatives are so anti-Constitution it’s a wonder if these idiots ever read it? Once elected these politicians do what ever they want. California democrats are padding the ballot box and have redrawn the district lines to insure they maintain control. How can there be due process when there is no balance? California needs a form of electoral college to eliminate mob rule. My gun rights are all but gone because of democrats. Writing to them is a waste of time, but I have time to waste. Long live the Republic.

Yesterday, June 20, 2016 We The People narrowly missed four bullets in the way of gun control, but today Monday June 21, 2016 it was quietly announced that RINOs, Susan Collins (MA) and Lindsey Grahamesty (SC) launched yet a fifth gun control bill in the Senate to be voted on probably later this week while no one is paying attention, a “bipartisan” bill that we’re being told is at the request of 90% of America.

Keep in mind two things. One, it is no accident that these full on attacks by the ruling class on We The People and OUR Constitution are happening just days before Independence Day, the 4th of July. This was carefully planned as a “in our faces” punctuation mark by the ruling class, elected to serve We The People. And two, there is ONLY one thing standing between us and One World Government, and that’s a well armed America, these United States Of America, and for that reason Barrack Hussein is intent of disarming us, removing that block. Disarm We The People and we will have no way to stop the Uselessnited Nations blue helmets from moving in and storming over us like the Nazis did first to Poland, and then the most of the rest of Europe in their failed path to One World Government. Disarming America IS ALL ABOUT removing the last block that prevents One World Government, led by the enemy from within.

Lets not make this harder than what it should be! If whoever is NOT an American Citizen then the 2A does not apply.
If whoever is here illegally then 2A does NOT apply. If whoever is in this country “AMERICA” then they have to abide by American Law, if whoever doesn’t then they get deported and go back to where they came from! If whoever is found to be living outside of American Law then they go back to their country of origin. If they are or have committed, or have ties to groups that associate with terror groups or extremists then they get to leave this country “America”. Whoever can go through the state department and apply for legal access to this country and wait their turn just like everyone else. If whoever runs out of time before they become an American citizen hey get deported and start the process all over again. Part of becoming an American is learning the language and speaking it when in public, we are all tired of listening to people that speak foreign languages when in public.

Worse under Obama but many in government have tried to negate the Constitution for years. Most people not only turned a blind eye, they re-elected those who were doing it. What is about to happen in America has been brought on by Americans. You are about to see the perfect example of the adage “all that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing”.

I’m not totally convinced but maybe Trump really is trying to do something about it. Regardless, it should be obvious to all but the brain dead and anarchists that Hillary is one of the most corrupt, self-serving and least qualified candidates to ever run. Yet she “appears” to retain massive popularity. Something is very dark about that. This is quite likely an epic turning point in America’s history and possibly the world.

  • Carlos Jean Andrews, Sr. June 19, 2016, 6:55 pm

It really bothers me that people don’t stop to think. Infringe means not to be tampered with or changed. It is permanent. The Government is prevented from taking guns, regardless of who wants to. To change the Constitution two third’s of the House must pass a bill then two thirds of the Senate and then two thirds of the number 51 States. I said 51 because a new state was added a few days ago which is allowed through the Constitution. They used the same process that all states were created. The New State is called The State of Jefferson.

This letter is meant to convey my concern regarding the reoccurring trend of those who declare “assault weapons” as superior killing machines having no place in American society. However, if you have already convinced yourself that banning weapons like the ones used in Sandy Hook and Orlando will make you safer then you shouldn’t waste your time reading any further.
The shooting at Pulse in Orlando, Fla was a horrific tragedy but not an assault weapon issue. There are over 9 million assault weapons owned by civilians in the US and those types of weapons are responsible for less than a few hundred deaths every year. Think about that for just a minute, millions and millions of people have these deadly war machines and the only time anyone pays attention is when someone goes off the deep end every couple of years. For something that is supposed to be a dangerous, lethal killing machine it is an extremely rare occurrence when one is involved. By comparison, there are around 9 million motorcycles in the US killing over 4000 people every year and no one mutters a word about banning them. Assault weapons are not a necessity and neither are motorcycles. If you’re under the impression that the only people that own assault weapons are right wing preppers and zealots you need to do your homework. Average, everyday people of all circles own these weapons in a responsible manner. The truth is so called “assault weapons” are responsible for fewer deaths than almost anything that can cause death in this country. More people are killed with hammers and baseball bats than assault weapons. If you question that statement then I suggest you take the time to research FBI statistics like I did. The argument that the AR-15 rifle was designed specifically for the battlefield and has no practical use in civilian hands is not only absurd, but proven wrong on a daily basis. Fact is, every firearm platform; bolt action, revolver, automatic, semi-automatic and shotgun were originally designed for the purpose of killing people on the battlefield yet over 300 million are owned by us and used in a practical manner every single day.
When shootings like Newtown or Orlando occur and journalists vilify the AR-15 rifle as “the problem” they are inferring a direct association between someone with severe mental and/or emotional problems to millions of law abiding citizens who own these weapons. It should be the responsibility of the journalist to inform their viewers that there are millions of these weapons possessed by millions of citizens that will never harm a soul and it should be the responsibility of the viewer to know the difference between the actions of a psychotic maniac and a normal person that just happens to own a certain type of gun. The visceral nature of a disturbed individual destroying innocent lives is incomprehensible and cannot be compared to any other cause of injury or death. It is the act of one human deliberately and consciously taking the life in the most violent manner of another human. It is murder in its most primitive form. We must acknowledge that, as humans, we strive to make changes and adapt through history to improve our lives and prevent suffering and tragedy whenever possible. When we experience catastrophic loss like this we want to do whatever it takes to prevent it from ever happening again. Those that have lost loved ones in this massacre will be permanently scarred for the rest of their lives but it will do no good to pass laws that won’t make a difference. The elephant in the room is that the only way to severely decrease the probability of mass murder like this is mandatory confiscation of all firearms from the general population. Good luck with that.
Enforce the laws we have, initiate and improve watch list restrictions and thorough background checks and reinstate waiting periods for purchases of all new weapons. No one needs to take possession of a new firearm in less than 30 days. The bottom line is banning assault weapons will only create a dangerous black market, turn responsible law-abiding citizens into criminals and contribute absolutely nothing to our safety. The previous assault weapons ban 1994-2004 had no effect on gun related deaths and subsequently not renewed. Again, do your homework.
Omar Mateen didn’t need an assault weapon to do what he did. After he made his initial entry, he systematically assassinated the weak and wounded who were lying on the floor over a three hour time period in between phone calls. Anyone with a demented mind, hard heart and almost any kind of firearm can walk into a building full of drunk, unarmed partyers at 2 in the morning and go berserk. He was a deranged killer facing no resistance and there is absolutely nothing in common between millions of law abiding citizens who purchase and own these weapons for sport and recreation and someone willing to point that gun at another human being and pull the trigger.

    • Mark June 19, 2016, 10:09 pm

They are not “assault” weapons. They are semi-automatics. Assault weapons are automatic. Stop using the progressives deceitful language.

  • Chuck Roast June 19, 2016, 9:37 am

With regard to Obama’s recent statements about the Orlando Florida Islamic terror attack, his claim that “an attack against any American is an attack against all of us” is simply a platitude which capitalizes on tragedy to further his political agenda to disarm law abiding Americans.

Elitists such as Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Mitch McConnell, John Kerry and Paul Ryan pretend to share the same safety concerns as normal American citizens, yet how many normal American citizens can afford to shield themselves and their families around the clock with professional armed security? Not one of these politicians share the same concerns, demonstrated clearly by the fact that they have the benefit of armed defense wherever they or their family members go.

Anti-Constitution “advocates” such as the Clintons and Obama don’t even pretend to care about the results of stripping Americans of their God given right to self defense. They are not trying to save lives. They are deciding which class of people can be murdered like cattle, and exactly where it may occur. They label those locations “gun free” zones, but make certain it is only “gun free” for law abiding Americans. But the Anti-Constitution crowd make sure they have “legal” armed protection anywhere they wish to go. And they have the audacity to do so at our expense.

How many people in that Orlando nightclub were designated drivers (ire., sober persons) or sober employees who were for no legitimate reason, stripped of their right to carry simply because the killing ground was a nightclub? One or two capable CHL holders could have helped to halt the slaughter. The killer had to stop and reload at least on 5 occasions. And the gun control crowd’s victims had no chance to defend themselves with a firearm. All due to the so-called “common sense” guns laws banning anyone except law enforcement (and the rich political elite who can afford personal protection officer escort) from having a gun inside a nightclub. How sickening to be told this makes any kind of “sense.” No legitimate reason exists to ban sober, law abiding Americans from carrying a firearm into a nightclub.

The additional claim from the Anti-Constitution crowd is that it would have been impossible to see well enough in a dark nightclub to respond to the threat. Firstly, if that were true, why do such elitists as the President and lower ranking members of his Anti-Constitution crowd always have armed security with them when they go into dark areas? Such ignorant, careless statements as “you can’t see well enough to defend yourself” illustrates two things. Complete disregard for the lives of innocent people, and a damn good reason as to why we desperately now need to elect people to office who take their oath to the United States Constitution seriously. Anyone with a scintilla of honesty and/or knowledge on the subject will tell you nothing stands out brighter in the dark than an individual illuminated by the muzzle flash of the gun that he or she is firing. If the Islamic Terrorist was able to shoot 103 people in those same conditions, how is it supposedly impossible that a CHL holder couldn’t hit one?

The ridiculous claim that the victims couldn’t have fought back due to due to darkness is the same evil minded method with which the Anti-Constitution crowd uses to try and shove globalism down our throats. (It is inevitable, can’t be stopped, etc., etc., etc.) I for one, am fed up with stupid people running our Nation. Trump may not be as slick as Willie, or as conniving as Hillary or Obama, but he is right about one major issue. We have to get smart, we have to stop allowing stupid, ignorant, and incapable people from running our government. And we have to do it now!

How long will we suffer such “leadership” as those who would agree with disarming law abiding citizens while allowing the Islamic terrorist threat to grow by the hour? Perhaps a CHL holder such as Donald Trump might be able to lead the Nation away from such irresponsible governance.

  • AnotherView June 18, 2016, 1:09 pm

Feds purposely allowing these terrorists to go ahead with their TERRORIST sprees, TO FURTHER THEIR REASONS FOR MORE GUN CONTROL.

  • Hugo June 18, 2016, 11:38 am

How can we expect common sense gun laws from people with no common sense? I have a friend who was on a no fly list for years because he had the same name as a Colombian drug dealer. They would need to guarantee speedy resolution of mistakes like that which I doubt they ate capable of.

  • super x June 18, 2016, 10:29 am

I have read some of the comments and this one is looking one way and then the ultimate answer seems to be the republicans solutions basically I would not trust anyone of any politicians that is in office or running for office in a shithouse with a muzzel on and if any of you all think they are for our best interest you are sadly mistaking.

  • mike June 17, 2016, 7:21 pm

If there was a couple of armed people at the Orlando Night Club that pig might have not killed as many people. Most Gays detest violence so they don’t carry firearms. The FBI is at fault here and they are trying to place the blame anywhere except where it belongs, on their incompetence. This is all a Government ploy to control the good people so they can squash us without resistance.

    • Blackey June 18, 2016, 1:09 am

I agree 100%. These terrorists are going there to commit suicide by gun hoping to take several along with them but they target anti gun establishments to oncrease their odds . Walk into a anti gun place with fifty people that can not fight back odds are you get half of them at least wounding or ptsd from the event with survivors guilt. That the terrorists walking in to a gun friendly place like a gun show or firing range he be lucky to injure ten before his number is up. Now you take the same terrorist to a local establishments that allow guns his odds go up from the previous location where the gun owners practice and are familiar with their firearms. To a location where they may be the same number of firearms but the people toting them half may go to the range once or twice a year verses weekly or monthly, plus they may not be as many with the willingness to do what needs to be done.

You know when a firearm becomes a weapon? When it is used as a weapon. Anything can be a weapon from A to Z. An anchor when swung at an individual to do harm becomes a weapon. A bat swung at someone becomes a weapon, a car when trying to run down and hit someone then be comes a weapon, etc if you wan a full list of weapons think can it be used to harm someone then it’s a weapon. The difference between a gun, a bat, a dog, and a car is the individual in control of them he makes each of these and many more a weapon. So do something about the people not the objects. If a terrorist went to a police station and try killing individuals he wouldn’t last long because it a fairly good bet many individuals there are armed and willing to use them. So the terrorists looks for a n easy target like a liberal bar. I spent twenty years in the USAF protecting the us constitution and Bill of rights because I beleive that those documents are what made this country great without those this country is gone we might as well say come take us because someone or some country will. The Russians knew they could never when a war here in the USA because they would not only be fighting the military and national guard but the individuals also and it would be easier to takeover from within much like being done by the commander in chief now that he has been able to disarm us legally he is supporting the Muslim nations and bad mouthing the guys here that are dying to prevent the takeover.

    • hey June 18, 2016, 5:50 am

It is illegal to bring a firearm to the night club. Most clubs will run a metal dector through the people entering. Thinks to the racism of gun owners none of those people had a chance, just goes to shoe gun control costed lives.

  • jet4547 June 17, 2016, 6:41 pm

Leave it to “gun control” to bring out the worst in gun owners and activists. Are we really so ridiculously shortsighted as to believe that Muslim terrorists are the long-term problem? Check the tragic number of school shootings, theatre shootings. mall shootings in this country, then argue that a watch list will solve our issue. I own enough guns to fill several safes, and I support the second amendment; but the founding fathers never envisioned a world in which an automatic weapon could destroy dozens of lives in minutes. We are no longer a “citizen militia”, so why do we need to own assault weapons; weapons designed not for hunting, pleasure shooting, or self-defense, but for mass destruction? Yes, I’ve heard the argument that “they” have them so we need to have them; but do we really? If these weapons were less easily obtained perhaps we would have less to worry about from “them”.

    • Mike June 17, 2016, 7:17 pm

You say you support the 2nd Amendment and include unverifiable details about owning several safes full of guns then totally blow it with the diatribe on “assault weapons” a nebulous term only used by anti-gun advocates to describe all of the guns they don’t like. The answer to your silliness is this; you don’t get to determine what we want to use to protect ourselves and our families, what we use for sport and collect. Deal with it.

    • Sally June 17, 2016, 7:39 pm

Don’t pretend to be a gun owner….just another leftist dem wetting their pants and pretending to be a gun owner to be a “reasonable” supporter of giving up other people’s rights. Sorry little Jet, you are so full of scata.

Is heroin legal little boy (girl?)…no trouble getting that. Child pornography? You know you have no problem getting that. Illegals coming into the country? No control there.

      Such a bunch of crap.

    • Steve Pendry June 17, 2016, 9:05 pm

First of all, the 2nd Amendment was not injected into the Bill of Rights so we could protect ourselves from home invasions and “bad guys”, that was simply a byproduct. It was to make sure that American Citizens were never put under the oppressive boot of the government. Period. End of Story. So, yes, us having a pathetically inept “black rifle” is VERY important because it is not even close to the weaponry that is being trained on us from “Law Enforcement” and the government goons.
Ask yourself, why would the Department of Education need ARMED POLICE, Why would the IRS need ARMED POLICE? Oppression. Period.
As far as “an automatic weapon could destroy dozens of lives in minutes.”, Did you know that 33 children were slashed and several were killed the same day as the Sandy Hook attack. Never heard of it did you. It happened in CHINA where a man used a KNIFE. Why didn’t you hear about it, because it doesn’t fit with the media’s agenda. Period. as for the “Mentally Ill” list, many returning veterans are finding themselves on that list. So are senior citizens who need help with things like finances. And the “No Fly” list, requires NOTHING from the government pertaining to YOU having Due Process before being put on that list. Trust me, anyone the government doesn’t like, will find themselves on one of those lists. Not only that, but do a little research and you will find that this is NOT the most deadly time in our history. Do a little research, not hard, and you will find that these killings have been going since BEFORE we became a nation. The difference here, is that it is no longer LOCAL NEWS because of the Internet.

    • GryphynX June 17, 2016, 9:11 pm

Wait what? Only a small percentage of Americans can get, purchase or afford “assualt rifles” and only after extensive background checks. It’s morons like you that drink the kool-aid given out by the media that make the rest of us REAL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS LOOK BAD. An assualt rifle is a full auto rifle. Only the military/police and or someone with upwards of 10 grand and a SPOTLESS RECORD can get assualt rifle. An AR15 (ARmalite 15) that civilians can buy are SEMI AUTO, 1 pull, 1 shot. These rifles are used for compitition shooting, home defense, hunting (with a 5 round magazine) and contrary to common belief just because it looks “scary” doesn’t make it a weapon of mass destruction. Cars kill more people each year than guns. The number one weapon used in this country to kill someone is a hammer. Cancer has killed more people combined than anything else…. let’s ban all those things first and add alligators to the list while we’re at it. Your comment reminds me of a confused liberal that has no clue what he’s talking about. A true 2nd Ammendment loving red, white and blue blooded American would have done his research before opening his mouth. Before spreading more lies and misconceptions, think and research before you speak…. and sell all your guns to a FFL dealer, cause I’m not sure your safe enough to own them.

    • Yev June 17, 2016, 9:32 pm

Define Assault Weapon. by your own argument the Founding Fathers could not envisioned internet by use of which we are having this conversation. Mass destruction you say….really? Pray tell me where can I get NBC weapons.. More people killed by Feds in Waco then in Orlando. When you interject the word “but” when talking about the 2nd Amendment it shows the reader you do not fully support the clause ” The right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”.

    • Leonard June 17, 2016, 11:59 pm

Jet, are you saying that you have a safe “full of automatic weapons”? Are these registered according NFA regulations? Or maybe you’re just another lying liberal, that knows nothing about firearms and just trolling pro-gun websites to support Brokeback Obama’s fantasy of a gun free, none-white, non-Christian majority America?

    • Robert Ferguson June 18, 2016, 4:49 am

In 1760, everyone was English in America (some exceptions, but generally correct). By 1776, Americans were identifying themselves with the country, not with Great Britain’s government. Where would we be now if British gun control had been successful? Now come to today. Many people, mainly Liberals, living in a fantasy world that what took place in 1776, government oppression, could never be repeated, clamor for elimination of gun ownership. Do you actually believe that Liberal ideals are going to protect you? If we are so stupid as a country to elect that lying political slut H Clinton, it follows that the Liberal wing will try to disarm the citizenry, despite the fact that the 2nd specifically says “shall not be infringed.” The result of the illegalization of firearms will be, WILL BE, civil revolt, or worse, insurrection. The Liberal campaign against “assault weapons” is plain and simple stupid. The AR is only a .22 semiautomatic. It looks militaristic, which is what is so scary to ignorant fears. Assault weapons start at the category of .50 cal. automatic and goes up from there with grenade launchers, RPG, bazooka, missile launcher arrays and tanks. The Liberal position is that the government will take care of us and therefore we need not have any firearms. Governments can become oppressors, especially against unarmed citizens. Time and time again gun laws have been shown, demonstrated beyond rational argument, to not be effective except as to allow outlaws and terrorists exploit situations which they know their victims are not armed against. As a prominent commentator recently remarked, words to the effect, if a person is unarmed, they are a sheep, perhaps bleating to the wolves, “Don’t kill me, I’m not armed.” You can abdicate your right to bear arms. I will not abdicate mine. And if some wicked, wicked day our government starts to confiscate weapons, when they come for mine, they’ll have to come out to the country, break down my gates, get past my four Rottweilers, my 30.06 semiauto, my AR-14 semiauto, my .22 semiauto, my swords, knives, clubs, and teeth. The price of liberty is the defense of it.

    • Joe June 18, 2016, 9:40 am

You may have heard all the arguments but still you are a lying liberal in disguised. Probably never serve or been to combat with those Islamist Terrorists shooting back at you. I’ve served over 30 years and fought in three major wars (one as a civilian contractor). I want the best protection for my family and an AR15 is not an ASSAULT WEAPON but the weapon of choice for the enemy ASSAULTING my family and grandkids.

    • Scotty Gunn June 18, 2016, 9:25 pm

So, we should only have muskets and flintlocks, then? That is all that is needed for hunting. Or a bow and arrows. Ban all guns, based on your logic. We all are the citizen militia, that has never stopped. The Founding Fathers envisioned a corrupt totalitarian government in the future, and wrote the Constitution accordingly.
You really need to sit down and do some reading and thinking as a gun owner. Read some history.

    • Mike June 19, 2016, 3:07 pm

Firstly, as an owner of enough firearms to supposedly ‘fill several safes,’ you should know that an AR15 style weapon is SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapon, not an automatic weapon. Please do your research next time you choose to make an ignorant comment. Secondly, the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution does not allow or disallow ownership of specific types of weapons. Also it was not put in place to arm a ‘citizen militia’ nor to allow citizens to possess tools for hunting purposes. It was put in place to afford citizens of this country a means to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. Radical Islam is a very real problem for the safety and security of everyone in this country, citizen or not, and for you to even imply that it isn’t when the Orlando shooter was a self-proclaimed supporter of ISIS is not only ignorant but also extremely foolish. Considering your lack of real knowledge on the subject, you are clearly just another anti-gunner who claims to support the Second Amendment while systematically trying to subvert the rights of freedom-loving Americans everywhere. So in short, jet4547, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for posting such a ridiculous, ill-informed, and foolhardy on this subject.

  • hey June 17, 2016, 6:09 pm

What the sheep do not understand is the Department of Homeland Security can put you on a terrorist watch just for stocking up on more than 7 days of food, stock up on gold, speaking out against the government, or ordering a create of ammo. Their power has grown limitless. Erosion of the amendments is a deterioration of rights. Let alone like other things like our health in prosperity, I can not people believe any one still stupid enough to stand for any government policy to change the country any more than it already has. Just how blind are people to what has been happening in the United States??? How long has gun contol laws been cramed down our throats??? When will it stop? Never until guns are outlawed or owning one is like a big dark secret. As far as criminals how about a criminal justice system criminals actually fear like the rest of the sane world?? America’s incarceration rate is 6 times higher than the second worst country in the the world, that is England. The government gets $33,000 per year per incenration based on 2006 census. Repeated criminals are continually let back into society not just to commit the next crime but to influence the next generation of criminals, starting with children, all for the sake of wasteful government capitalization.
Lets take a look at where the worst shootings I know of happened, Aurora, LA, Newtown, (need a permit to buy ammo Boston), San Bernardino, and gangster house Chicoga these areas have the strictest gun control laws in the states!!! We also can not forget about no gun owning Paris. Gun control laws seem to be related to more death to any one who actually learns from history rather than the REALLY STUPID PEOPLE THAT HAVE TO BE WHAT AND HOW TO THINK BY THE GLOBAL ELITE. If you want to save lives than target the big food and biotec company lobbied FDA for making this country sick and dependent on a socialist health care system. We can not forget a how many Americans have committed suicide or linked to mass shootings while dependent on phychiatric drugs known for violent outburst or sucidial thoughts.

  • Mike June 17, 2016, 5:48 pm

Its common sence to me if you want to fight and defeat terrorists you must follow three simple rules of which the president should have learned long ago and keeps failing at.
    1. Hunt it
    2. Confront it
    3. Kill it

Of course, you cant do this unless you have guns. So taking away law abiding American citizen’s ability to defend & protect ourselves or to destroy the enemy is shear loonacy. This is not a gun problem… This is a person who shoots the gun problem.

    • Steve Pendry June 17, 2016, 9:13 pm

Exactly. It is also a perception problem. We as a nation don’t think that bad things should happen to us. We get all weak knee’d and faint at the idea that people die. Yet, THOUSANDS of more people die each year in auto accidents than are shot. And as for the “protect the children” folks over at Mom’s against Plastic Forks and guns”, well you will also find them lining up in droves, at your local yearly Planned Parenthood””celebration for the murdering of children in their mother’s womb” event.
Gun control is about one thing and one thing ONLY, CONTROL. Period. That’s it. It doesn’t have a damned thing to do with the reduction of group killings. It NEVER HAS. And as for those horrid black “Assault Weapons”, that is simply a fictitious, falacious, means to an end of stripping away your rights by the very same people who are murdering those “Precious” children in their mother’s womb, you know, the shrews who will attack you verbally and physically, if you tell them they can’t kill their children, ALL FOR THE SAME OF CONVENIENCE.

  • Mahatma Muhjesbude June 17, 2016, 5:07 pm

I warned everybody about this for years.

Now it’s here. The Oback door hack burglary that will have Police State Confiscation police

If these asshole repub turncoats go along with allowing A SUBJECTIVE ADMINISTRATIE MANDATE to substitute for Constituional due process, and then ILLEGALLY ADD THE PUNISHMENT OF GUN FORFEITURE to the Illegally charged ‘non-crime’ –except by the government itself–..IT’S OVER. Obama and his Fascist regime WIN!

All he’ll then have to do is ‘create’ out of thin air, all kinds of nifty sub category criteria for ‘mental illness’ or ‘domestic terrorist potential’ because all mental illness is diagnosed upon ‘behavioral abnormality’ which is a catch all and ALL of us fit into it at one time or another in our lives. The evil lies in who exactly gets to ‘determine’ the list?!

There was PLENTY of probable cause for an arrest for conspiracy to aid and abet on this Orlando Muslim, not to mention other sedition charge potential, and then search his computer for more evidence. And then, while he would be awaiting trial, the court could issue a temporary ban on gun ownership for him if they wanted to feel good, but WHICH WOULDN’T HAVE STOPPED HIM FROM GETTING ANOTHER GUN ANY TIME HE FELT LIKE IT!!

It’s bad enough we have permanent gun ban punishment for a crime as it is, but Jesus fucking Christ! Now this Adminstration will be able to Seize your Guns, just because they THOUGHT that you should be on a fucking no FLY LIST?!

If We, the People let this insanity continue,
Why don’t we all just strip naked and queue up at the nearest ‘last minute shower stalls’ lake they had in Germany. That’ll be much easier to bear than the slavery that will follow this liberty killing travesty.

  • Mike June 17, 2016, 4:57 pm

You have a Muslim President what are you expecting. We keep supporting with weapons , we keep involving in taking out leaders of other country’s destabilize it and then have to go back too war. We let the destabilized country’s pissed off people cross our borders , and then support them with high ranking jobs in secure areas. And when they have kids They are taught of their heritage and want to become someone special. And there you have it a Muslim President.

  • loupgarous June 17, 2016, 4:39 pm

Just called my two senators to let them know I’m paying attention to what they do. Actually, the NSSP got me calling first – the Email for this site was a little down the list…..

  • Tyson Mendel June 17, 2016, 4:00 pm

Its sad that I have to remind or inform some people that in November of last year, France was attacked by Islamic persons with guns killing 128 people in a night club and café. The French people can NOT have guns ! A lot of good their gun control did for their good people. As Charlton Heston said “cold dead hands !”

  • James R Bahen June 17, 2016, 3:29 pm

Why was He taken off the watch list ?? Political Correctness and a Terrorist Watch are exact opposites. Israel defines certain people and they are completely searched we do NOT because of Political Correctness. If all the Terrorists are Muslim, Radical, Shown Hatred, these are the people you watch especially if they frequent Radical Islamic Web Sites, this is not what CAIR wants but it is what is needed before more people are murdered !! You have to DEFINE your enemy before you can stop him

  • James June 17, 2016, 3:24 pm

Constitution requires due process , not a so called brilliant piece of legislation as Murphy deems it . No watch list skips due process ,skip due process and destroy the constitution and the rest of the amendments. These senators should be spending more time figuring out how they will indict Obama for high treason and halt jihadis from infiltrating the best country on earth .

  • Ray Atkinson June 17, 2016, 1:56 pm

We don’t need some two bit senators two bit bill, submitted to self serve his career, we have the second amendment to take care of gun control. I base my comment on 45 years of State and Federal Law Enforcement, if gun control is needed then we need tougher legislation for vehicle control, cars kill more than guns..Laws have become the tools of the government to get votes, by satisfying the “needs” minority groups for every catastrophic event and silent majority are seen as “okey doaks”….Wake up people, we’re being used as pawns in a chess game..

    • Hoofhearted June 17, 2016, 3:26 pm

Every politician, all of them, only act when their actions can buy votes. NOTHING is done for the common good. If you look at any and every law ever devised and ask “What block of voters were bought with this bill?” you will soon come to the conclusion that VOTES are all that matter, which explains why spending is bankrupting us, unconstitutional laws are easily passed, executive orders are not challenged, would be felons are running for office to the delight of the electorate, etc. My only question is, which state will be the first to say enough and secede. I’m going there!

  • Tripwire June 17, 2016, 11:17 am

I see all this BS as going one way, the true powers that be in America are mostly not in America nor are they Americans, even the ones born here, these super rich wannabe rulers consider themselves to be “Citizens of the World. Their goal is total control of every person on the planet. Their true agenda is people control, their money gets their minions elected to office where the laws are changed daily to implement their planned destruction of America.

Now the one thing that stands in their way is that nasty little thing called the Second Amendment, they know that even if 3% of American gun owners resist that’s an army of millions.

This they can’t seem to find a way around so somehow there always seems to be a mass shooting to get the weak politicians all fired up to call for gun control, now we all know that in their mind the words gun control means complete disarmament of the American people.

Their battle cry is always “Reasonable” gun control, yet their idea of reasonable is vastly different than mine and yours, now I have no idea what you think or would do if they have their way with the 2A, but I know what I believe, I know I will not play their game, I will not register or turn in my weapons, none of them from my single shot 22 to my AR-15, it’s that simple, you will or you won’t obey their new laws, it’s going to be a problem for each of us, or I should say for you, it’s not for me because I already know what I will do.
So, it’s not the British that are coming this time, it’s the globalist that are coming and this shot will truly be heard around the world, That is IF the shot is fired, I say IF because we have become a nation of weak milk-sops, and our sons are even worse, the average person in America would fight harder to keep their cell phone and lap top than for their gun rights.

So, now is the time, you need to make up your mind what you will do, and burying your guns in the woods is not the answer, if it’s not in your hands when the day comes than it may as well be in the scrap heap.

I live in Texas, I take comfort in the belief that Texans will say NO so loud that it will echo around the country and give hope to others.

I’m aware that I’m now an old man, I’m not the young man who went off to become a Marine, I’m old, fat and slow, but by spine is still pretty straight and my knees don’t bend so I don’t have to worry about kneeling before my enemies, I feel for you young folks who have a wife and children at home, they more than patriotism will guide how you react, and I for one would never fault you for it.
Peace brothers and “Remember the Alamo!!

    • Dennis June 17, 2016, 12:06 pm

Amen, Brother! I’s too damn old to dig a foxhole and both me knees and me back wouldn’t bend to allow me to climb into one, if’n someone else dug one. So’s, you, meself, and anyone else who’s like minded will stand in front of the foxhole protecting those who climb in it. We needs to defend this country from the likes of HITLER, NO-SACK Obama, Democratic Presidential Nominee — HITLERY CLIT-on, and the like. It’s up to us to protect our country, this newer generation wants to GIVE IT THE HELL AWAY. Then, WHAT did their ancestors bother DIEING FOR?

  • Charlie Porter June 17, 2016, 11:12 am

The person that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun! Take the guns away from the guys that guard these politicians, including Bad Odor our president pretender. Set an example for the people of this country. Lets see if this works for them? My bet is that they will not go for the idea. My idea of gun control is good grips ,sights practice and having it near you at all times so you have control of any situation that may threaten your life or your family.More gun laws create more problems! We see this as a fact in our history thus far.The reason for the rights of the people to have firearms was created to protect the people from the government! It intended for the average American to have equal or better arms than the government! This secures the peoples rights are protected against government aggression.

How come the UN and traitor US politicians wants to ban small arms in American but not disarm ISIL / ISIS or the Muslim terrorist countries that are breeding places for these attackers and most of African nations that are out of control|

People seem to have the Hilary Clinton disease of selective amnesia.

It was during the Clinton regime we as Americans witnessed the genocide of infants and their mothers and siblings and unarmed men in Waco Texas and the cold bloody murdering of an unarmed child shot in the back under Mrs. Clinton’s direct orders to distract the media from white water, travel gate, Monica and all the other criminal acts the Clinton’s were know for

    • Bruce Bluemel June 17, 2016, 2:00 pm

I wonder too, how many American Companies are providing ammo for these thugs. It surely must be very profitable for them and then stand back and call foul when we see gun control coming at us.

  • Larry June 17, 2016, 11:06 am

It looks like the wishy washy Rino element is ready to fold like a cheap suit once again. It doesn’t even look like Trump will be on our side for much longer. We could have had a real Conservative to vote for but no!

  • God fearing freedom loving American! June 17, 2016, 11:00 am

The argument of gun control will be an on-going thing. I am a member of the NRA (Lifetime), Pistol Instructor, Gunsmith and Armorer but I also have this thing called good judgement. Mentally ill people should be scrutinized for gun ownership. No-fly should be looked at as well. Stopping a terrorist or a deranged lunatic in my opinion is way more important than the “Pride” that some people hold for any voice of reason. Now I know there will be hardcore NRA members that will disagree but take one second and think about it. No one likes guns, shooting, collecting etc more than me I can promise you! Imagine though you and your family is out somewhere enjoying a night at the movies and in walks a crazy person shooting and they kill your child. Now, look back and ask yourself would your opinion change if you were standing there holding your lifeless child in your hands. I’m betting yes! I know your response may be that “I carry so it wouldn’t happen to me because I’d take care of it”. Problem is in reality, you more than likely will not notice them before the first shot in a dark theater. That first shot could have you or your family’s name on it. I HATE GUN CONTROL because I know opening the door for pretty much anything will possibly lead to more but this particular argument to me is wrong. If one of your family members were killed by a terrorist or a mentally ill person, the first question will be “Why were they allowed to have a gun?” And yes I know you can get a gun without a background check and there is always going to be that possibility. Just my 2 cents

    • Rouge1 June 17, 2016, 12:00 pm

Don’t trust the nra they have helped pass most of our sensible gun laws I mean gun control. Do the research.

    • Frank June 17, 2016, 12:05 pm

If you were an NRA member, and firearms anything as you just told us here.. You would know for sure that a list isn’t going to stop a law breaking terrorist hell bent on killing. They use bombs, if they can’t get guns, they use JET AIRCRAFTS when they don’t have bombs..And you are a bold faced liar!

    • Mahatma Muhjesbude June 17, 2016, 5:21 pm

God Fearing…I wouldn’t say that. Because I know something you, and too many other sill fucks don’t. I know that no matter what your subconscious state of mind is, that if you are coherent enough to make a simple transaction, no matter what ban you had or mental illness or criminal record, YOU’LL STILL BE ABLE TO GET A GUN IN A FREE LIBERTARIAN OPEN SOCIETY!

WHAT THE FUCK PART OF THAT CAN’T ALL YOU DO GOODER IMBECILES GET? While i agree the mental health of our nation needs some assistance…

      It ain’t the Fucking PROBLEM!

Presbyterians and Episcopaleans and Hare Krishnas are NOT the problem.

It’s the Fucking radical terrorist Muslims and their Nation of ISIS in the Middle EAST!

I would say, WHY HAVEN’T WE DECLARED WAR ON ‘THE LEVANT’ AND LAUNCHED A CARRIER BATTLE GROUP INTO THE REGION TO BEGIN BOMBING THEM UNTIL NOT MANY ABLE BODIED POTENTIAL JIHADISTS WERE LEFT AND JUST THE THOUGHT OF HITTING US BY ANYONE ELSE WOULD CAUSE THEM TO SHIT IN THEIR PANTS AND FALL DOWN PARALYZED!

That’s the first thing i would ask as i’ve just asked my Senator today.

    • TJ June 17, 2016, 5:55 pm

The FBI Knew about this Muslim Orlando shooter and His Family ties to the terrorists in the Middle East, and the Store Owner Called it in. They DID nothing.

10’s of Thousands of ILLEGAL firearms pour into the US every year over Obama’s Open borders. They ALL End up in the hands of CRIMINALS….

How is More “gun control” on Law Abiding citizens going to make a difference ?

      It’s NOT about Guns, It’s about CONTROL……

  • CharlieKing1 June 17, 2016, 10:52 am

Okay, just spoke with both Sens. Cornyn and Cruz staffers. I was enlightened on Cornyn’s SHIELD act. I’m still a little leery about this bill. I strongly voiced my opinion about gun owners being blamed for an act of terrorism by a radicalized Muslim. I stressed that the focus should be on unvetted refugees coming into this country unabated and not on gun control or law abiding gun owners. Please call, write, email, or leave a message for your US Senators. Cruz’ staffer said that there is still ongoing floor debate about the amendments. DON’T LET THE GUN GRABBERS WIN!!!

  • This is what is really going on June 17, 2016, 10:47 am

This is what its all about . Why does Obama run to gun control every chance he gets ? The U.N. small arms treaty that he signed .Put one and one together and you will see the answer .This is all about Globalization and our fundamental rights being destroyed. I am refering to the Rand Paul link to reference the small arms treaty http://www.nagr.org/UN_lp_survey2.aspx

  • Kel June 17, 2016, 10:46 am

The terrorist [Omar] worked for G4S, a major contractor for DHS, among other agencies… He was a democrat, with a gun license, in New York… Hillary’s State Dep. blocked investigations into the mosque he attended. Omar also took trips to Saudi Arabia… The imam at his mosque Orlando has been on the news before saying that ‘death is the sentence’ for gay people… The brother-in-law [Mustafa] works with ‘refugee’ importation, and ‘mental hospital’ work, he also has called Trump a nazi on facebook… The father of the terrorist [Seddique] has a youtube channel, where he gave ‘reports’ on afghan nationalism, even said he was the president. The father also said that ‘God will punish the gays’ in an interview… His father also supported the Taliban, was/is a ‘refugee’ from the 80’s era, when the Bin Laden regime was gaining speed… There is also word that Seddique has been to the white house… All that and more, yet we are talking about more gun control??? How about traitor and border control? Criminals/Terrorist will always get guns/weapons no matter what laws/regs are in place, look at Chicago, D.C. and New York, or Mexico for that matter… Terrorist don’t need guns when they have bombs, knives, toxic gas, cars/trucks/etc to harm/kill people… Remember that the point of islam is to conquer the world with sharia law, which kinda follows the same agenda/ideology of a one world goverment… Both of which are absent of liberty, civil rights and sovereignty…

    • Batman June 17, 2016, 11:42 am

You are correct, the liberal agenda is to ultimately disarm the U.S. Population by any means. Dig deeper and it will probably lead to the CIA having some interactions or relationship with the shooter’s father in his past.

  • Steve Ventre June 17, 2016, 10:31 am

Any gun law that stops even one law abiding citizen from getting a gun is too much no matter how many terrorists or mentally dangerous persons are still able to buy them.

  • nick June 17, 2016, 10:29 am

“Thou Shall NOT commit MURDER!” They don’t give a RAT’S ASS for THAT one with it’s ETERNAL FIRE and BRIMSTONE and DAMNATION and LOSS of SOUL penalties, you REALLY think they will care about anything YOU FOOLS come up with? ALL of you LYING, THIEVING, TREASON COMMITTING “Politicians” go STRAIGHT to HELL! Do this Country AND the Planet a favor for once!

  • Roger June 17, 2016, 10:17 am

The problem is, we have a bunch of buffoons in Washington DC that all behave and talk like they know what to do about any problem- but they do not. Their reaction to everything has always been to create more laws. Every time something bad happens- they want more and stricter controlling laws. But the crimes just keep on happening, and in fact are getting worse. So someone needs to make them understand- their ideas and approaches do not work. They always look at the effects, not the real cause of problems.
Another problem we have is a president who is the president of the United States- in name only. These presidents are not pro-American. They do not have the interests of American citizens at heart. They only have the interests of a few, not all Americans. That needs to stop. And we have a woman who is all about ambition and going down in history who wants to be the next president of some, not all of the people in this country. That woman MUST be prevented from holding any public trust office ever again. It stands to reason that laws that satisfy some people and restrict others is just not right- those being the ones against the constitution and the second amendment in particular. We need to focus on the real cause of all the madness and heinous crimes, not focus on a tool that was used during those crimes. It’s just way too simplistic to think that more gun laws is going to stop the madness.

  • Ross Walters June 17, 2016, 10:17 am

Even after his long career in government and leadership roles in the Senate McConnell fell into this trap of allowing votes on feel-good gun control legislation. Despite many years on the job he is still a ‘rookie’. As much as I dislike Reid he runs circles around McConnell.

  • Bob June 17, 2016, 10:16 am

Laws are for by law-abiding people. It does not matter how many laws on gun control we have. A terrorists, criminal, or crook does not and will not obey the law. We have enough laws on the books about “Gun Control”! Laws are like locks, all they do is keep an honest person honest.

  • 2lolo June 17, 2016, 10:14 am

I AGREE 100%.!!!!!!! No To ANYONE On The terrorists List and No Fly list to be able to walk into a gun store and buy a gun, and we don’t want an innocent, law-abiding citizen to be denied second amendment rights because he’s wrongly on the list with a bunch of terrorists. This is not rocket science to figure this out.”

    • Colize Holmes June 17, 2016, 10:52 am

I wonder if you will still believe that when they put your name on one of their list and you havent done anything to be on their list. And because of your name being on their list they start taking away your rights

      • Chief June 17, 2016, 11:46 am

And when they start changing the terms for terrorist to meet the criteria of most gun owners we will all lose our rights .

  • KennethAmerica June 17, 2016, 10:08 am

My opinion: It is necessary to include an efficient process of appeal so that a citizen erroneously placed on the list can ask for and obtain a redress certification number. This mechanism already is in place for the NO FLY list. Each time I buy an airline ticket, there is a space to enter the redress number. This allows the purchase of the airline ticket. In the case of firearms, such a redress number would facilitate the currently questioned (and all future) purchases.
With this built-in protection of second amendment rights, NO FLY = NO BUY is sound public policy that I as an armed citizen support.

    • Frank June 17, 2016, 11:55 am

I have not heard anything of this “redress number” you’re talking about. All I know is, there have been several US Senators placed on this list, and each one of them have had BIG problems each and every time they got on a plane with no redress what so ever, to include Senator Kennedy who got stopped every time he flew from Washing to his home State! It is a fact once on this list, ONE CAN’T GET OFF PERIOD!

Also, what exactly is stopping a president from putting whole groups of people on this list with NO redress number that you’re talking about here? Like NRA members, people who have RON PAUL or Gadsden flag stickers on their cars. You know the same exact people this administration called and wrote an entire handbook about in 2009, how WE LAW ABIDING AMERICANS WERE THE DOMESTIC TERRORISTS!

  • DRAINO June 17, 2016, 9:54 am

This whole thing was a failure of the Govt (who is pushing the UN agenda)……not a failure of the Constitution…..Not a Gun Control failure. They knew he was a problem….knew he had a history, but they (The Govt) left him on the streets…..The GOVT IS liable for this situation. THEY NEED TO ANSWER FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE!!! YES, THE GOVT NEEDS AN OVER HAUL!!! But it WON’T HAPPEN WITH HILLARY IN OFFICE!!!!!

    • Chief June 17, 2016, 11:51 am

You are correct DRAINO and of course we are the problem never the gov. Obama;s U.N. small arms treaty is what is really going on here.

  • Rocky June 17, 2016, 9:52 am

Personally I am proud of them, these proposed gun control measures cost the Democrats dearly in 2012. They need to stir up that hornets’ nest again just before election time and see where it gets them.

  • CHARLIE AYCOCK June 17, 2016, 9:49 am

Good point! America’s biggest illegal immigration problem is in the White House. A credible police force is surely an asset but they can’t do everything. The people have to be allowed to defend themselves. That is why our forefathers put it in the Constitution. The Constitution is the law. The courts can only interpret it. Clear and unambiguous language requires no interpretation. How can we stop crime and terrorism without infringing on the rights of the citizens? That is a question we are trying to answer. Depriving citizens of their Constitutional rights is not the answer and the law will not permit it! The direction of the government is toward the philosophy that people don’t have rights, they only have privileges. Well, citizens have rights, subjects have privileges. My Vietnam ribbon has 3 campaign stars on it. I feel that I have earned the right to be a citizen. Don’t thank me for my service. Yes, I answered the call to serve my country but I went there primarily to defend my Constitutional rights as a citizen, which my government is pledged to protect.
Freedom is a matter of degrees. The only thing that separates the USA from the rest of the “almost free” countries is the second amendment. If they take that, they will have to take, “the land of the free” out of the National anthem. They say the second amendment is no longer valid because it is no longer needed for military defense. Wake up people, we are under attack. I think they call it the war on terrorism. What ever happened to, “of the people and by the people”?

  • Rocky June 17, 2016, 9:45 am

Leave it to a liberal to suggest using a “no fly-no buy” list to save us from terrorists is going to accomplish anything when neither of the San Bernardino shooters or the Orlando shooter or his wife were on any government terrorist list. When all 4 of them should have been! This is not an answer… There is no answer in the realms of liberal lala land politically correct B_S_, it simply isn’t going to happen. Omar Mateen held a security clearance, he had a concealed carry license, he had been investigated repeatedly, and there were no red flags. The no fly-no buy plan is ridiculous. Plain and simple.

    • Infidel7.62 June 17, 2016, 10:03 am

There were many red flags but they were all ignored in the name of political correctness. Can’t offend the muslims. The domestic violence alone should have barred him.

  • Infidel7.62 June 17, 2016, 9:17 am

Let me get this straight. We are going to make America safer by letting more terrorists in while disarming law abiding Americans. Sounds like a great plan, too make it safer for the terrorists.

    • Michael Calandrino June 17, 2016, 9:29 am

Good point. Too bad the federal government doesn’t understand by allowing more Syrians in while disarming us will allow for more killings of our citizens.r

      • Frank June 17, 2016, 11:38 am

They understand that just fine…the fact is they obviously DON’T CARE! Their agenda of complete people control over the American people will get through, and they can’t do that with an armed populous! Remember, their progressive motto appears to be after shoving multi trillion dollar debt busting laws like obamaNONcare down our throats, and more then doubling our debt in 7 years on just about ever program a dim would want.. THE ENDS JUSTFY THE MEANS! That includes even if Americans die, they again couldn’t care less because they will get their agenda through and the American people “controlled” by their elitist progressive ruler.

  • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 9:15 am

Can’t pro Bill of RIGHTS. Congressmen simply describe that criminals, crazies and terrorists-
“DON’T need no gun store” to buy any weapon, gunsstores are for the valid U.S. citizen, you already have the background check system-
SO YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE TO WALK ANYMORE ON- WE the People.

So you either uphold your allegiance to the “Bill of RIGHTS” or are openly admitting sedition against it.
“SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” is brain dead clear- get a clue clowns as you are subject to the same words you swore to uphold and as for us WE the People will not only not comply but will not stand for your chosen abdication of preserving American RIGHTS. Your foolishness can only be allowed so far = the limits were layer out by OUR Founders.
You idiots let Islamo-terrorists into America in the first place- who do you think your kidding here, it’s Islamic terrorists 99% of the time killing Americans on U.S. soil. Why are those types allowed here?…..To then attempt to take away citizens RIGHTS because you idiots can keep killers out or under surveillance?

Just how stupid do you think WE are; or better put- just how stupid are you cushy public servants in understanding you ARE the problem = NOT US. Just as Ronald Reagan put it-!!!!!!!!!!!

The NO FLY LIST bureaucrats should be able if suspecting a bad apple to pick up the phone +/or email the background check people under certain protocol requirements(red flags) and say “no guns” for so and so..

If anyone is not a citizen they should have NO RIGHTS as one- HOW ELSE COULD THEY BE DEPORTED= citizens can’t be.
What is there even to talk about here other than you are undermining the “wall” separating Americans RIGHTS from intrusion by a intrusive federal gubmint.

“Don’t tread on me” was for this very reason- just whom The *ell do you people think you are.
Do your jobs like your paid by us to; you useless robotic morons act like frightened children out of touch with common sense. Your pathetically Euro-centric mindsets are un-American in thought and now attempted misdeeds.

WE the People plainly see what’s going down here and your really *issing us off so- “get off your high horses”.
This is America and WE are Americans = NOT EUROPEAN SOCIALISTS = get that thru your heads.
One armed person can take out a killer gunman= but all you retarded stupid paperwork to alter OUR RIGHTS will not stop real killers = PERIOD = and you all *amn well know it.

Why can’t some of you with some real guts stand for WE the Peoples RIGHTS–!
Surely you can see where these Euro-centric un-Constitutional actions are going- WE will not stand for it just because you fall for the socialist//statist mindset of the Far-Leftists among you.
Grow a set will you ~!

You are correct, ,tman2. The fools in Washinton DC are looking at the wrong approach to getting anywhere near to solving this problem and preventing more mass shootings. They are the source of the problem as they think they know what is best by allowing illogical laws and policies, People are taking the approach that is simple and logical=- to them. But it is the wrong approach to be limiting innocent people who have nothing to do with what these shootings are about. They need to look at why these crimes are happening, not at the tools that are used. And to simply repeal or alter the second ammendment is something only a fool would say. Our forefathers were much, much more intelligent and insightful than our modern-day people.

We don’t have a gun control problem, we have a Muslim control problem. TRUMP was right – we should never allow seditious Muslims in our country to begin with. The reason we have guns is because we do NOT TRUST the government. Our country was designed that way – the government is supposed to fear the people, not the other way around. Legal owners own over 300 million guns in society with over 11 trillion rounds. If we were violent, you would know it already!! The average Texas CHL holder is 16x less likely to commit a crime than the average person, and even less likely to commit a crime than POLICE officers! These are FACTS. The more CHL holders in society , the lower the crime rates. WE help stop violent crimes before they get out of hand. I am proud to be an NRA member –

When is the last time any of you bozos thought a particular gun control proposal made sense? Heck – was there ever a first time?!?

If you are, like the first commenter in this thread, of the opinion that ” No we should not allow them to pass this or any other gun control restrictions, period” then YOU are why your guns are going to be over-restricted. It will be on you. YOUR fault.

Because you will be acting just like the bone-through-your-nose moron everyone on the Left knows you to be:

    Unreasonable
    Uncaring
    Dangerous
    Tribal
    Stupid
    THE PROBLEM

You have an opportunity here to make some concessions that can actually hinder some maniacs and crooks from getting guns while not having any affect on your legal rights. Are you all so stupid or so proud that you can’t think of a single measure that might help? Closing the gun show loophole, perhaps?

You can show yourself to be a responsible adult, or you can continue to act like a stubborn spoiled juvenile delinquent whose opinion nobody gives a shit about. And, frankly, they’d be right to think so.

    • Journeyman June 17, 2016, 9:12 am

There are in excess of 25,000 various gun laws on the books. People need to look at the impact. Where gun laws are most restrictive, crime and murder rates are highest and citizens are most vulnerable. (Do the math, per capital risk.)
The issue I personally have with the current left wing hysteria over the Orlando terror attack is that they are ignoring the reality of the problem and instead defaulting to the DNC campaign manual – pro abortion, pro gay rights, anti business, anti second amendment. Are they, or you, so small and petty as to not realize that your are aiding and abetting the embedded terrorist cells in this country by not confronting them and instead attacking your own people?…the people who pay most of the bills around here, BTW. If Obama and the left are so concerned about safety, then why have their been multiple terror attacks on US soil under Obama even as homeland insecurity grows beyond comprehension? Why aren’t they concerned about this looming and ongoing attack here in America, but choose instead to attack the constitution? Why are they content to use the constitution to protect terror in America, but not Americans?
      Go read some history.

      • Roger June 17, 2016, 9:54 am

You are correct, journeyman. Why are conditions getting more and more out of hand, while there have been more and more ideas put in place to stop it?

    • Ben Keelen June 17, 2016, 9:15 am

If the Govt. could be trusted to use these common sense laws in the spirit that they were written, then yeah, you would probably find a great many 2A supporters that would get on board. But that isn’t the case is it? The list would be known only to the govt agencies using it and populating it with no clear criteria for how and who gets put on the list. Can you say without equivocation that you trust our govt?

Another thing that bothers me, I keep hearing about gun show loopholes. Have you ever purchased a weapon at a gun show? Of course not, sorry. Well I have. I am CC permit holder and I can’t walk out of a gun show with a gun I bought that day even though I walked in legally carrying concealed. That whole line of bullshit is getting old, aside from not being true.

You liberals talk of tolerance and acceptance of others, and yet day after day we see Trump supporters beaten bloody when they try to exercise their right to support the candidate of their choice. You want to welcome all immigrants but presume to deny natural born citizens their legal rights.

And lastly, if you think that you ‘enlightened democrats’ are the only ones heartbroken every time one of these shootings happens then you are as cold and dead inside as the shooters. That doesn’t matter though does it? We disagree with you so we are all stupid and wrong and should be on the no fly list……right?

    • Robert June 17, 2016, 9:25 am

Oh my God. You have no clue as to what the real problem is. It is NOT about gun control. The problem is getting the Criminals and Terrorists, who also commit criminal acts, 0ff our streets, either in jail or deported from our Country. We must have ENFORCEMENT of existing laws and SEAL our borders to prevent Terrorists and other illegals from entering our Country. We DO NOT need more gun control laws which only infringe on the rights of United States Citizens.

    • James June 17, 2016, 9:44 am

Wow, “The Gun Show Loophole”, could you please elaborate on this one some more, that way everyone will know you simply read some BSabout it, and really know nothing about it! LMFAO Ya know, you might want to really educate yourself a little, before you make a ass of yourself posting insults to others, when you obviously have no clue here. First off, if the folks at FBI/ATF were doing their jobs, this low life that believes in Radical Islam ways, should not have been able to by those guns! You and other fools keep suggesting background checks, well they are already the law, if you didn’t know Mr. Wizzard, but those that do the checks at the federal level are not held accountable to do a good job, now are they? Go fix that problem, and educate yourself on current laws and how to make sure they are enforced, rather than be a dumb ass and insult the rest of us law abiding firearm owners and ask us to give up our rights. I’ll agree with only one thing, something needs to be done to keep these scum suckers from getting tools to attack Americans! Without taking the rights of American Patriots away! It’s not about guns, it’s about screwed up people, period!

    • Carl June 17, 2016, 9:59 am

Do you even understand the loophole you speak of. That is code for citizen to citizen sale. Limiting citizen to citizen sales at the “Gun Show”will simply not be the legislation. It will be all citizen to citizen transactions. There will be no common sense to it.

    • Jim Vogt June 17, 2016, 10:05 am

Really, sit there and type a bunch of insults to law abiding firearm owners, when you don’t know shmit about the subject? Please elaborate on the “Gun Show Loophole” know that you brought it up, and already made an ass of yourself. It is obvious you are just another uneducated left wing nut talking about something you know nothing about!

For starters, this nut job should not have been permitted to buy firearms, after being investigated not once, not twice, but three times, by the FBI/ATF who is supposed to be accountable for the background checks, that already exist. How about fix all the lame government job positions that never do their job, and make sure there is accountability? Nope, you would rather just take away rights from law abiding citizens, that are better prepared and educated than you, that might actually protect you from someone or something some day. Before you go trying to beat others down, just to make yourself better, go get educated and talk about something you have knowledge or experience about, instead of making an ass of yourself. You are anti American, far from a patriot, and certainly smart enough to own a firearm, so please, please leave them alone and let someone else protect you, so you don’t hurt yourself or someone else. Thanks, : ) LOL

    • hey June 17, 2016, 6:01 pm

Just how stupid are you to what has been happening in the United States???

  • missourisam June 17, 2016, 7:51 am

There are more than enough laws on the books to control terrorist and criminals from legally buying guns. Only problem they are not enforced. Lying to obtain a gun is supposed to be crime that can be prosecuted, yet they are not. We should ask why not. Could it be that the feds don’t want to stop criminals from committing firearms offenses so they have more reason to cry out for gun confiscation? I love my country, but I fear and distrust its government.

  • Oliver Groce June 17, 2016, 7:30 am

Leave the second amendment alone. If you take our guns you take our protection. Why punish law abiding people. Criminals already break the laws so why put more restrictions on the people that do obey the law. One more law will mean nothing to a person that has evil in his heart. Our founding fathers knew what they were doing. What have you done that will come close to what those men have done

  • RetNavet June 17, 2016, 7:26 am

The main fallacy with all of this is that the U.S. Government and its agencies are competent and not politically corrupt. Even the most casual of observers knows that is not the case

  • JDS June 17, 2016, 7:24 am

No we should not allow them to pass this or any other gun control restrictions, period. Our second amendment rights have been stomped into the dirt since the 1930’s and its accomplished not one damn thing as far stopping evil people from killing. Every single time we have compromised guess what, they come back for more. With every push for more gun control there needs to be a bigger push to repeal current laws.
If hildabeast is elected and stacks the court with antigun anti freedom morons so what? Do you believe the American people will just roll over? Let’s say a real hard core white supremacist type was elected and stacked the court with people who felt the same way. They think slavery and Jim Crow laws were the best thing that ever happened here and they come out say regardless of the constitution all people of color are considered second class citizens and have zero rights. Would that make it the law of the land? Hell no it wouldn’t. It would trigger another civil war. Don’t think for a minute that passing unconstitutional gun law wouldn’t do the same thing.

    • Roger June 17, 2016, 4:35 pm

  • Uncle B. June 17, 2016, 6:40 am

Where can I go, who can I contact when my representatives believe that by simply owning a machine made of aluminum and steel, springs, and polymer, I am dangerous? I live in California, and there is no where I can turn except by leaving this state, which I hope to do by next year. The way I see this gun control hysteria playing out is the rest of the nation gets the gun control measures we already live under here. Say bye bye to having the freedom to choose the machine you want to defend your life and the lives of your family members. Say hello to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Diane Fienstein, Gavin Newsome, Michael Bloomberg, etc etc etc.

This leads us to troubled times, I fear that we lose handguns next once they push the new AWB bill into law by the end of the year. This road only goes downhill from here. Take care of what you have, for I have already lost the right to have what I choose. Soon, the scant remnants of the 2nd will be a faint afterglow here in CA. Good luck to you ladies and gents.

  • James Wilson June 17, 2016, 6:35 am

Muslim Control Yes! Liberal Control Yes! Gun Control No! Obama, Jarrett, and Jeh Johnson as well as all of their Muslim staff should be removed from office. Islam and the Quaran cannot coexist with our Constitution. We have seen how the Muslim in Chief regards the Constitution of The United States……..with total disrespect. No more lies, we want facts. How many of the shooters were Muslim or influenced by Islam and how many were liberal or affiliated with the Democratic Party. Now perhaps we can realize neither Muslims or Liberals need to own a firearm,

  • Jeff June 17, 2016, 6:21 am

Liberalism is the pacifist sibling of militant atheism and common sense is not too common anymore. With the United States having been under the ideological subversion of the left for far as long as we have been, along with the muslim brotherhood operating throughout the government and in society, engaged in a “grand jihad” to destroy America from within, as per their manifesto and in accordance with islamic doctrine of muslim supremacy and world domination, it is more crucial than ever that we come to our senses when it comes to gun rights, national and individual security. islam is the greatest threat to humanity that exists in the world. It is the mother of all harlots and abominations of the earth and one would think that after fourteen centuries and counting of torture, murder, rape and slavery carried out by those who choose to follow the false prophet of this false religion that more people would be able to see it for what it is, but no.. The West abandoned God for delusion long ago, which is why we find ourselves in the weakened, morally corrupted and ever growing threatened state that we are in. We have a muslim in the White House who’s loyalties are to the advancement of the caliphate and the left is being used by something far more wretched than itself, while we the people will be made to suffer. We reap what we sow however, as we have done this to ourselves through our own godless ways, no different than our enemies.
    Prayers for the suffering,
Lord Jesus, have mercy on the sinner.

    • Roger June 17, 2016, 4:40 pm

God bless America, now, more than ever. You know those Muslims said they would use our laws against us. We need to get people who are truly intelligent and who have balls and a backbone in Washington DC to uphold what it is to be American and keep our country as America is supposed to be- That is like our forefathers envisioned, not some new-age mamby- pamby, girly- man country…

The whole system is cracked. The current democratic presidential nominee is under federal investigation wow. The fact is if you on the terrorist no-fly list you should not be able to buy a gun just makes sense. And yes I do believe it should be reviewed every 5-10 years. Just like the list of US citizens who are not allowed to buy a gun because they are listed as a felon. Here a good example for you an neighbor friend of mine made a stupid choice as a teenager 20 years ago and got caught buy the police with $20 work of pot and has been listed as a felon since and cannot own or pocess a fire. Who’s really the threat?

Oh right, it’s because the enemy is crafty. We all have enemies, and we are FREE to choose how to defend our homes against them. Your comment is only your opinion. It’s not your call. We the people are protected by our constitution from opinions like yours. That’s why it was put in writing all that time ago. How can you call that comment you just made American? • Scott P. June 17, 2016, 8:19 am

I agree. If you’re using an M4 to stop home invaders instead of a 12ga & 00 you’re doing it wrong. I own an M4 and would never consider it for home defense over my shotgun or 1911.

      • Ben Keelen June 17, 2016, 9:30 am

Man I do love my 1911, that is my first defender. I keep a shotgun (or two) with 00buck and that works very well also. In most home defense scenarios those two are more than adequate. I own an AR-15 because I see a potential future that doesn’t include the average home defense scenarios. If we stay on our current path, the future I see is quite a bit more dystopian. Plus it’s fun putting head shots on targets 200+ meters out or pounding holes in 1/4″ steel. But that’s just me.

      • ED Linton June 17, 2016, 9:36 am

Give me a 12 Ga over anything else for home defense..I’ve got a Shotgun by my bed for just that….

    • p teresi June 17, 2016, 8:39 am

And with that response, you’ve told us that you are definitely not police or military. Well, at least not one from a free state. If anything, you’d be retired from NJ, NY, MA, IL, or CA because most of you have forgotten the Constitution and that you have sworn to uphold that Constitution.

    • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 9:45 am

“civilians”??? No regard “WE the People” are citizens of a Republic(use a dictionary stupid)

“high powered” = no, AK’s, AR,s are medium powered at best.
“high capacity” = would be 100+ rounds or belt fed- not 20, 30 or even 75 rnds.
“assault rifle” = does not exist; battle rifle = w/select fire for full auto.

semi-auto’s been around as long as machineguns= well over a 100yrs and are not the same.
George Washington would’ve championed the AR, AK for the public if they’d been around then.
Only their arms where either single shot muzzle loading flintlocks rifles or smoothbores(ball or shot).
What part of- “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” needs further defining = those men were brilliantly clear ~!

    • Roger June 17, 2016, 4:42 pm

It is not an assault rifle. It is a sporting rifle. if you are a police and a military person, you should know that. Maybe YOU do not need a rifle like that, but others do and want to keep the right to have them.

  • Gordon June 17, 2016, 5:51 am

Im ok with tying this to the list PROVIDED the list now requires the Government to notify the person they are considered a risk and provide for time in front of a judge in the individuals city. Not some Federal judge 3,000 miles away. As it is right now you can be added to the list and you would be totally unaware until you try to fly. Then you spend hours on the phone calling one alphabet federal agency after another each telling you the other is responsible and they are the ones to contact. I know this because my sister was added to the list and still cant fly. when she was added she was 14 years old. This was a girl who was in AP classes in school and 3 grades ahead of her age group.
It is disturbing that, if true, this guy was investigated AND had call after call from people who knew him but nothing was done. But then again I guess I am one of those that is considered as dangerous as a terrorists because I support law abiding citizens handgun ownership and firearm ownership. Besides lets say the take all the guns away, there would still be guns readily available to those who wish to do harm. Do think so, the one thing that has been illegal for 40 years and the government has been fighting a war over is drugs, and yet its the most prolific contraband in schools and campus’. Someone who is going to kill, rob, kidnap… is going to break the law which means they will get a gun and it wont be as hard as people think.

  • Thomas Herrington June 17, 2016, 5:51 am

What are the proposals for the new legislation? The report offered nothing substantial about what was in the amendments to the spending bill. Is our legislative process so closed now that the citizens can no long know what is being proposed? Did a knee jerk reaction by reporters only cover what they fear will happen? What is the substance of these amendments?
Yes, what happened in Orlando was horrific and somehow must be addressed by our government. But the truth is, a normally intelligent but warped person can hide their purposes and carry out an attack against anyone at anytime. This is the basic danger of being in a republic with basic rights being upheld. The only way to avoid this evil is for everyone to take responsibility to identify and take action against the warped individuals. I do not mean to injure or kill them, but to identify them, get them help and while they are warped, prevent them from having access to deadly tools. This is a normal and basic action for a people and the government must have a process to deal with these warped individuals while they are warped and a process to restore their rights once they (if ever) are straightened out. This is not easy. But it must be done to protect our loved ones.

    • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 9:57 am

First the guberment allowed this man privileged access = their fault and failure.
Second, any gathering place with liqueur has bouncers and also should have one or more armed watchers to protect the revelers while sitting ducks in such a place.

Certainly all schools should do the same- as well as the armed citizen that might be anywhere that could end such an attack with one shot = “WE the People” are NOT sheep among wolves to be disarmed into helplessness.

Criminals, crazies + terrorists will get arms regardless of so called laws to prevent- even if personally warned not to ~!

  • scott demonte June 17, 2016, 5:26 am

We shouldn’t fight this. It’s stupid and a battle we won’t win, period. Yes, this was a failure on the FBI, court system and the government. However, head my warning if we fight this and win we will lose the election and the Senate. I’m sure of this. If we lose in November we lose the court for a generation. It’s not worth it. Flame me all you want. Call me a tool of government or whatever you want. It doesn’t change the fact I am a right wing gun nut who sees the bigger picture. We have to compromise on this it is simple. Yes, the terrorist list needs due process procedures but this whole no background check on private sales has to end. Even I see the idiocy behind fighting that. Of course I’m talking about a simple amendment saying all gun sales, with some family loopholes, are subject to a NICs review. If you’re afraid of a background check I don’t want you buying a gun. It’s that simple. It takes no time and the don’t hold the info so stop with the conspiracy theories. It takes 5 minutes or 3 days max, you’ll live. Otherwise we will get a ban on “assault weapons” and a bunch more evil crap. Hell, I’m confused why anyone would sell an Arabian person a gun now anyhow. So, see the logic here. Don’t fight this unless it’s another egregious piece of legislation that goes too far. Go ahead, beat me up, but if we fight and lose I told you so. It’s a no win situation so give this little thing up.

    • Gary T Rogers June 17, 2016, 5:54 am

Good response. You are only a gun but if you refuse to reason logically. If you can’t understand how non-gun enthusiasts can be frightened and turned off by people intent on displaying their awesome arsenal especially in inappropriate places accompanied by inflammatory language with the “cold dead hands” glazed over eyes and skull and crossed bones T shirts. Grandma always said “You catch more bees with sugar than vinegar”

    • bytemarks June 17, 2016, 6:25 am

Scott, you are not a right wing gun not. You are a liberal through and through. Your vision is tunnel vision.

      • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 10:13 am

To go along with Scotts socialist/statist Euro-centric Far-Left Democrat ideology is in principle fine with the eventual removal of OUR 2nd-Amendment(would be illegal).
The true fact is criminals, crazies and terrorists will buy what they want on the “black-market” no matter what.

Americans better step up on this on finally on principle, and that principle IS ” freedoms under Liberty”.
Laws will not stopping the occasion killing spree by a person bent on murder for whatever the warped reasoning.
The best action to stop an in place killer is another armed person = period-!!!

“SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” is as simply and profoundly put in place as to not be misunderstood.
Any infringement is moving the needle toward eventualmy disarming the public and this is what it really is ~!

    • Jon June 17, 2016, 6:36 am

So if I’m on this list and I try to purchase a firearms and the sale down not go threw I should be arrested until im100% clear or wrongdoings . Been on this list should come with a bigger penelty then just the right to buy a firearm . I should no be free with society . I should not be able to get a loan . Because money can be used for evil . I should not be able to get a student loan or even go to collage because educated terrorist could use education to their advantage as far as carrying out their terror act . What if they took classes or have a degree in engineering or any science form of degree that could be used also to do harm to innocent lives . Terror list should not prevent you just for purchasing a firearm . At the end of the day this list is very bogus if it’s not apply / used to its fullest

      • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 10:28 am

        Great point Non-!!!

Further any 3/4 ton pickup with a diesel or V-8 revedup(100mph) and run thru a crowd or a crowded bldg makes a firearm a joke as this would kill hundreds ,cripple maybe thousands- esp if the back was filled with lightweight gas containers.
Then the real question is should we ban trucks or background checks for private purchases of trucks.
What about large bulldozers that could go thru the corners of 5-10 story bldgs causing them to collapse?
        Just dumping liquid toxins +/or gas down exhaust vents on bldgs would kill and maim hundreds in minutes;
should they then be banned or be purchased and signed for by only permitted folks?
        Breaking a natural gas or LP line in the basement of a large bldg can when finally sparked can take it down;
should we have armed guards in every single bldg.

NO- the power grid and water supply systems need addressing not the guaranteed 2nd-Amendment -~!

    • M8plz June 17, 2016, 6:36 am

Honestly, I was in agreement with you until you started on the NICS checks for private sales, the fight against private sale checks has nothing to do with having something to hide from a background check, (thats backwards left wing logic at its finest) but it has everything to do with privacy and maintaining the right to transfer your personal property without the government reaching its filthy hands into your life and extorting money from you. But in reality, thats not even the greater concern, the greater concern is that universal checks are entirely unenforceable and will do absolutely nothing to combat actual illegal transactions, what it will do is technically label millions of innocent people felons for not abiding by the superfluous bureaucrat junk law in the first place.

Then, when the law fails to do anything, because it IS unenforceable, the left will blame the right for not giving law enforcement the tools to make it truly effective, then enters the radical leftists wet dream … How does universal firearm registration sound? I mean, if congressional republicans suddenly became stupid enough to bend over and take universal background checks up the ass in the first place, as you advocate they do, then how far of a jump will it be to registration? Then later, how about bans, or maybe even confiscation of all goes well?

      Yeah, great plan.

    • Mike McCullers June 17, 2016, 6:37 am

Scott, I have to agree with you.

    • srsquidizen June 17, 2016, 7:01 am

You’re partly right though suspected terrorists will just get their guns the way convicted criminals do every day: through back alley criminal dealers and plain old theft.

The “terrorist watch list” should not be secret for the sake of all of us. That info should be provided to gun dealers, at least when one of them tries to buy a gun. Dealers would comply willingly in declining sales to such people (one recognized there was something fishy about Mateen and wouldn’t even sell him ammo). It’s a safe bet any licensed dealer who knowingly sells guns to terrorists would be boycotted and sued out of existence. More federal control in this area, which could result in NRA members being banned from buying guns because Hitlary decides it’s a terrorist organization, is indeed a slippery slope.

    • RoKenn June 17, 2016, 7:23 am

I agree completely. Also, I’m sure it’s been said before but this whole, “assault weapons” thing is a word that all of the conservatives love to keep using because it puts images of rapid fire machine guns in everyone’s minds. Even this really bad and unfortunate incident in Florida recently had that terrorist bastard using a, “assault rifle” to kill and injure all those innocent people. The,”assault rifles “are still single shot per trigger pull weapons. Just like pistols! Too many years of action TV shows depicting people using rapid fire machine guns like the AR-15 and suddenly everyone thinks that if it looks like a machine gun it is a machine gun. But, as far a my second amendment right to bear arms is concerned, God help us if that is taken away and the poor families that have to cower and wait for the police to finally show up. I know it’s wrong but every time I hear about these kinds of things happening I can’t help but want the military to turn that entire area where those pigf***ing terrorist groups are into a giant glass parking lot. I know it won’t help but…..

      • MGySgt June 17, 2016, 8:14 am

An AR-15 is not an “assault rifle ” Good Lord . Liberals call them that ,not Conservatives .We call them what they are Defense rifles .

        • GunFlint June 17, 2016, 8:32 am

It makes no difference to the Liberals. Its a black scary gun that goes bang ! Had they come out in pink only, that might have been OK with them.

Morons consider a Euger 10 /22 as an “assault weapon” is it has more then 5 rounds in NYC and if someone palces a pistol grip on this same plinker it is called an assault weapon and if it has a folding stock Feinstein said it becomes “more powerful”

    • Cyrus June 17, 2016, 7:29 am

I’m gonna have to go ahead and agree with Scott and nobody is more worried about Gun Control and Gun Round ups then people like me from CT. I am willing to support Nation wide Back ground checks. If you cannot pass a back ground check like I did then I don’t want you owning a gun either! Every gun I own is legally owned and registered with the State of CT. I have no secrets, I am a law abiding, tax paying American citizen and a Constitutional Conservative. I will never, ever give up my Constitutional Rights in any way shape or form. That said . . . there has to be a trade off. I will support Universal back ground checks but I want Universal CCP! Just like my license, I can legally drive in any State of the USA. I have been cleared by the CT State Police & the FBI to have a CCP, that should allow me to legally carry anywhere in the USA. That’s my trade off!

      • Fossil June 17, 2016, 9:04 am

Frankly, having the “state” issue “permits” so they know where every gun is, is frightening!!! Hitler has it right, register guns, find those people, take them away and now you have a defenseless and compliant population. If anyone here believes that the government is altruistic and only concerned about your safety, I have a great piece of development property in the Gulf of Mexico for sale. As Mark Twain said: “Loyalty to the country always, loyalty to the government when it deserves it”. Right now I’m QUITE scared of my government.
Listen to one of the founding fathers:
“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
        – Samuel Adams

      • DRAINO June 17, 2016, 9:31 am

You already have given up your Constitutional rights by living in CT where they apparently require all weapons to be registered. Why do you need permission or approval or be on a list to own a firearm? Is that in the Constitution? Driving is a privilege, not a right….HUGE difference. It’s no ones business what you own or how much. And why should you not own what you want? The 2A was to protect against a tyrannical govt….so why shouldn’t we have what they have? Why would the Govt be afraid of it’s own people?? Oh! Because they are greedy power hungry turds who think themselves better than the people.

    • Chief June 17, 2016, 7:35 am

1.A list will be used as another tool to take away more peoples guns rights just as Obama has with the Vet’s ,going after the retired and those on disability .The Dem’s will never stop ,this is only a piece and then there will be another piece of taken .Give them an inch and they will take the whole 2nd A
2.You cannot compromise with the Dem’s .Have you heard the rhetoric ? The shooting was caused by ,conservatism , christianity ,guns ,the nra .Everything but what it was (they are blatant liars period, who will bend over backward not to sully the name of the peace loving, their best pals, radical islamic extremist )
      3. Has the Gop in giving Obama everything he wants helped us one iota ? Nope .Why are so many people supporting Trump ?Because they are sick and tired of the GOP not doing what they promised us .This whole situation is about a muslim terrorist and a crisis is not wasted to push gun control yet again .A line must be drawn or we are headed to Australia’s fate .

      • ED Linton June 17, 2016, 9:22 am

        Chief, Bye Bye Bitch…..

    • Bill Brown June 17, 2016, 7:35 am

Scott, I could not agree more. I too am a gun owner and will not sell a gun without a background check! As you said it is an easy process and makes sense. Compromise (reasonable) is a fact of every day life, and this is a reasonable and sorely needed one. Thanks for expressing it so well.

    • Travis Waldrop June 17, 2016, 9:41 am

I agree with you here. Call it war tactics in our fight to preserve the rights of law abiding citizens. Get the big picture. Who can argue with that? My heart goes out to the families of the victims in Orlando. I don’t want to sound like this could have been prevented, because it couldn’t have. I don’t want to seem insensitive because I’m not. I love all people. This was a tragic loss. Now to all the families out there who lost loved ones I want to say stand up now for gun rights. Your family members were all good people were they not? They all had the right to carry a weapon because they were good people. I wish they all had my view of the world we live in right now. If they did then after that first shot from that cold heartless terrorist was fired it would have been his last. I carry a weapon everyday because people like him exist. If everyone in that room had there side arm that night we would be rid of that scum, and countless lives could have been saved by the lives that were in danger. Not by the police who came after the assault was over. I hate the idea that we need to carry our weapons everywhere we go, but until we show those who are out to do evil that it won’t be so easy, then it’s become necessary. We have to stomp out the evil in the world. Not our right to carry the firearm of our choice. Not our freedom to go out and have a good family time at the range and fire our assault rifles because we enjoy it. And oh boy do we ever enjoy it. I urge you all to carry the weapon of your choice to help me protect US from THEM. We are all different, but I that doesn’t mean we aren’t the same. Let’s keep our constitution alive. Let’s defend ourselves against evil. Let’s not rely on the police to keep us safe here at home in our cities and towns. Let’s stand up together. It’s our differences that make us strong. We have forgotten that somewhere along the way.

  • Daniel Kunert June 17, 2016, 4:58 am

How about zero alcohol for drivers because the numbers are 15563 versus homicides of 7733 (of which 5291 are gun related) from January 1, 2016 to June 17, 2016 (http://www.romans322.com/daily-death-rate-statistics.php). So there is almost three times more death caused by drunk drivers and seems nothing is being done. In my opinion, the recent tragedies done by desperate meniacs is just an excuse to bring gun control into the scene so that some individuals who are in the senate can bring their agenda through. I am a strong believer in the US Constitution and our fore fathers gave their blood for this and I think they are turning in their graves of decisions made today. As mentioned before because a few bad apples why do the rest law abiding citizens have to pay? Did we not learn from history when prohibition was introduced which actually increased the crime rate by the birth of organized crime syndicates and so on? What we need is less government regulations to rule ourselves.

    • Tom Evans June 17, 2016, 6:35 am

You and Scott Demonte are right!!!
I have been confused with another with my simple name on the no-fly list and was challenged to get flying again for my business. I figured then, that was OK if it prevents another Flight 92.
Daniel and I share a similar perspective on selling any mid eastern a weapon of any kind, today, without a little more caution, especially if not a citizen for the last 15 years.
I an insenced by our society’s turning blind eyes and deaf ears to the unchecked epidemic of blood alcohol in the driver of any vehicle on our roads today. It’s just egregious that we have any tolerance for it at all. I think, in Germany, where alcohol is a big part of their society, they require more than $1000 to apply for a drivers license, and it’s gone for good /ever, with the first violation. I AGREE WITH THAT!!!

  • bytemarks June 17, 2016, 4:41 am

Omar Mateen was investigated twice by the FBI. Once in 2013 and again in 2014, over his radical leanings. He worked for G4S, a private security firm and earned a reputation as an erratic security guard. He often used racist and derogatory language when talking about blacks, Hispanics and gays. He had anger issues and was very unstable. The FBI investigations were nothing but smoke and mirrors. The FBI needs to be held accountable. How could they have missed this guy? Omar Mateen was not on the ‘No Fly’ list. He should have been. The root issue is not guns, it is the total ineptness of our government. No one in our government has to take ownership or responsibility. Our government needs a major overall. I do not support any additional irrational gun control laws. I am open for discussion, but be aware, the ‘fog of words’ do not play well with me.

This has NOTHING to do with Muslims, Gays, or even Guns; it has ALWAYS been about achieving the UN globalist Agenda, no matter how many people lose their land, the homes, get displaced, have their families break up; it doesn’t matter. These dutiful MORONS like Murphy here always seem to IGNORE the bigger picture and meanwhile, there’ll no doubt be countless millions of brain-dead libtards in support of this USELESS legislation and who haven’t got one clue about the larger picture or how their ignorance could potentially destroy this country. They’re just happy as long as they have an EBT card and can attend the next local gathering in the town square for LGBTQABC-whatever. After they get these “supposed” rights, there’ll be no place left to exercise them. They were all asleep at the switch.

I have no doubt that, here in Maine, Sen. King was already duty bound to worship the ground ONumbnuts walks on and Sen. Collins will once again show her true RINO self and vote with the Democrats.

    • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 10:50 am

      Quite sad isn’t it.
Europe is almost in the Globalist control tank now, the created “Muslim immigrant” is a plunger to finally force Europe. into that tank.
However the USA and it’s “WE the People” mindset of clinging to OUR Bible and guns just doeas’t seem to flush no matter how many times they pull the handle.
So now in MAO’bama’s final lap the unelected bureaucrats are doubling down on Christian principles and firearms RIGHTS removal = 1st+2nd-Amendments forfeiture anyway they can. The vampirous Killary is waiting in the wings to pounce on what’s left undone.

Trump is in mortal danger as these Globalist that run America via the FED/IMF/WB/UN and unelected vast alphabet soup agency bureacrats don’t want him in office- so pray for that man and just maybe “WE the People” can turn this thing around yet.

Wow we the boricua lost 20+ people in the terrorist and hate attack in Orlando. Now We see this senator like use this failure of the intelligence to implement more federal government control. The president of the United States of America and his party think imposing limits in the bills of rights can definitely defeats ISIL. We are not the enemy I don’t support you in anyway. The problem with this is totally failure of Barack Obama policy . ISIL is a world problem not regional one. Your comments are a false sense of security for the people who think that the government will protect their lives and love ones. I see that in 30 years of service as state police officer in the colony of Puerto Rico U.S.A. . If we as society give away only one part of any right your will see the end of the democracy as we know in USA and here in P.R. I don’t like some words of Donald Trumps, he is right about one thing Obama was a media fenómeno and failure and we can’t get visas to the people that comes from war zone without proper research. Sounds bad I’m not proud saying that but it is true. We in Puerto Rico have guns control or control for good citizens. The criminals don’t have any. Thanks God we don’t have any terrorist attacks since the 1970, if my memory recall well, with the MACHETEROS or F.L.N.P.R. To the family and victims of this terrible act of terrorism and hate in Orlando my prayers. I so deeply sorry.

    • Maury O June 17, 2016, 6:31 am

If these illiterate people who serve in the Congress of the USA are truly backing some “Globalist Agenda” as many say, why don’t they do something about the guns that the Obama Administration has put into the hands of known drug runners, Rebel Armies and Terrorist all over the world. We know they gave a bunch of guns to drug lords in Mexico….we know they have sent Billions of dollars and heavy duty weapons to terrorist in the middle east and africa, first they support one group, and then when that doesn’t work out, we supply the other side for a while (that is what the very sad killings of our Ambassador and staff was all about) Obama and Hillary could not let other forces into that compound untill they got all the military hardware being stored there out, and they hoped everyone there would be killed. Obama and Hillary have been responsible for the rape, torture and deaths of 100’s of thousands of innocent people….killed by weapons they freely gave to a dozen different factions. Let’s start by having every gun that leaves a factory having a registry # and an “address” for where it is sent when it leaves the hands of those who make it. Obama has weakened our own militay while adding strength to the Terrorist. I watched footage of a combat situation on TV the other evening and it made me sick, The ISSL was using our modern rifles (M4) and hand held rocket launchers, and no doubt Tanks, trucks, artilary and other stuff that has been given to known terrorists by the Obama administration and the State Department. Put the two worst criminals on earth, Obama and Hillary, in a maximum security prison for life…..then maybe the rest of us could respect laws that help win the war against terrorism here in the USA.

      • mtman2 June 17, 2016, 10:57 am

Yep, those two are definitely monsters and unAmerican to the core, bought and owned by the divide and conquer Globalists who set up and financed both sides of every war since 1800.
To eventually create a OneWorld Government run by them and their chosen elites for a statist- oligarchy that will decide who lives and dies ~!

      • Granfern June 17, 2016, 9:31 pm

I am a gun enthusiast and have no tolerance to the degree our government has become extremely “hands on” regarding anything we want to do. However, we need to be honest to ourselves and to the facts when commenting on serious problems like gun control, lack of due process, etc. You say Obama and Hillary have been responsible for the rape, torture and deaths of 100’s of thousands of innocent people; I ask you, who started this war based SOLELY ON LIES? Good guess!, it was Dubya, a Republican – who also gave huge amounts of weapons to people who turned on us, and who left behind billions of dollars of military hardware, and who shredded the Bill of Rights when he started torturing people. I’m neither republican or democrat, I am an American and will vote for whoever I feel will be best for our country. Everyone’s opinion should be respected, but if you fill your message with inaccuracy then your opinion becomes a blind rant. Think about the magnitude of incredible disrespect shown to us and the constitution by starting a WAR based solely on b— s—.
If Clinton got impeached for fooling around in the White House, what should be the punishment for Dubya after killing hundreds of thousands of people, putting our country in an enormous debt (we were in the black when Dubya was elected, this is public knowledge, go online if you don’t want to believe me), and declaring war on a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11? He should be tried and hung for treason, by law. Instead, he lives like a king and will never be inconvenienced by what he did. Everything I have wrote is not my opinion, but the truth; again, all these facts are public record, read them for yourselves.
