SAR USA is happy to announce its new SAR9 Compact, a midsize version of their polymer-framed, striker-fired handgun for personal protection and concealed carry. The SAR9 Compact has a feature set that competes with higher-end service pistols at a price point that’s hard to beat.
Chambered for 9mm Luger, the SAR9 Compact has a standard capacity of 15+1. With a 4-inch barrel and an unloaded weight of just under 27 ounces, the new SAR9 C falls into the most popular form factor between full-size pistols and subcompacts whether it’s for everyday carry or home defense.
“The SAR9 Compact was inspired by feedback that we received from elite shooting professionals, dealers and consumers,” said SAR USA Chief Todd Pearson. “We listened to the shooting sports community when they asked for the same incredible durability and performance of the SAR9 in a more compact version.”
In addition to the hammer-forged barrel with a recessed crown, the SAR9 Compact has a fully interchangeable backstrap and grip panel system to tailor the gun to fit a wide range of hand sizes and comes with small, medium and large inserts. It has a smooth single-action trigger with a passive trigger safety rated with around a 6-pound pull.
The frame sports a standard accessory rail with one forward slot as well as a reversible magazine release button. The pistol has a cocked striker indicator on the trigger, an internal firing pin block for drop safety and a loaded chamber indicator.
It has an enlarged trigger guard with a deep undercut, which, along with a long beavertail, allows for a high grip and low bore axis for improved handling and less felt recoil. The grip angle is set at 20 degrees and in addition to having a non-slip grip texture all around, the frontstrap has slight fingergrooves for even better control.

SAR USA is launching the SAR9 C with a black oxide finish on the upper assembly but plans to follow it with a two-tone stainless model down the line. Each pistol ships with two 15- or 10-round magazines, a carry case, a cleaning and lubrication kit, a lock, and a manual.
Other specifications include an overall length of just over 7 inches, a height of just over 5 inches and a width at 1.4 inches at the widest. Of course, one of the best features of the SAR9 Compact is the price.
The all-black SAR9 C has a list price of just $452, with real-world and online pricing expected to be lower. The stainless model will be priced at $484. For more information visit SAR USA today.
