Sturm, Ruger & Co. Firearms

Ruger first introduced the 10/22 in 1964, and today the tried-and-true .22 Long Rifle blowback semi-automatics are owned by millions. Last year the company introduced an all-new twist to the popular rifle in a takedown version with a polymer stock. It has a rail atop for mounting optics, but also comes with iron sights. Take a look at the video to see how easily it comes apart for easy storage or transportation. This year the company made it a little more sweet by threading the barrel and mounting a flash hider (MSRP $419). Of course, it can be removed and a suppressor can be mounted if you’re like the thousands of shooters out there who are concerned about noise pollution. Overall length is 36.75 inches, barrel length is 16.62 inches and it weighs only 4.67 pounds. I’ve shot the Takedown extensively, and the accuracy, trigger and trigger reset are amazing. Also new in 2013 for Ruger is an extension of its popular SR Series of handguns, but this one is chambered in .45 ACP. The SR45 is has a reversible backstrap to tailor its fit, it comes with a 4.5-inch barrel, has an overall length of 8 inches and the magazine holds 10 cartridges. The adjustable sights are in a three-dot configuration and the MSRP is $529.
Everyone I know in rural Pa. is against any new gun laws. They simply have not worked and we have prove of that. Besides the constitution states that the right to bear and keep firearms is a privilege given us by our founding fathers. It doesn’t state that only certain firearms are alowed, it states the ownership of firearms will not be infringed upon. Of course I’m referring to the ban on assault weapons that has be proposed. Even though statisics show only 2% of crimes were committed with assualt rifles that, is 38 people in 2012. Not exactly a problem like the Liberals would have you think. Yes the AR’s are powerful, thats their purpose. If we ever need to fight an invader or even each other . I want the same fire power my enemies have.
Pathetic that the greatest terrorist threat to our freedom is is from our own USGOV. I agree with you. I want the SAME or BETTER weapons than my enemy.
I know this is slightly off-topic but:

Many elected officials have been looking for an opportunity to curtail our gun rights and think they can win now if they move quickly while emotions are high. Not doing anything or thinking someone else will do it so you don’t have to will result in the greatest loss of freedom our country has seen. Now for the easy part: Go here, and let your representatives know how you feel. Your info is NOT retained, and they do all the contacting for you. It’s Ruger’s website. Ruger has been an American business since 1949.
I love it but it won’t fly in my state on Kalifornia … Will be ban for sure ;-(
this is a honest comment on the Rugers above statements
I love the comments about adding a suppresor if you are one of the thousands of people concerned about noise pollution. I know I sure don’t like noise, wonder when everyone can buy one at your local gun store.
Locally they cost about $400. for any gun. But WHY does anyone need one? Good if you are a spy or in a house to house war. Foam ear protection works just fine!
I’m glad to see that Ruger has added a .45ACP to the SR-series pistol lineup, but there is still one major option lacking from that line of pistols: NIGHT SIGHTS!!! The sights that come on the SR-series pistols are, IMHO, some of the best available on a new pistol these days, but if you want night sights on your pistol–and every carry gun should have them–you have to replace the excellent Ruger sights. Ruger really needs to change this!
Just wandering if you have or thinking of suppresser for the acp 45.
Ruger keeps doing great things! New versions of old favorites (1911s & the ubiquitos 10/22) and new versions of newer models (22/45 Lite, American Rifle, SR45) just keep coming. And the best part is that they make sense! The new American Rifle in 7mm-08 is now on my list of things to buy this year. If my budget can stay together I just might have to place a new SR45 or Commander size 1911 in the arsenal, too. Keep ’em coming, Ruger.
I own several Ruger 10/22s, a wood stock with scope and a Takedown model for my survival gear. I think they are awesome rifles! I have been considering a Ruger pistol chambered in .45 ACP for over a year. I looked at the P90, P345 and SR1911. I guess I’ll be adding the SR45 to the list of potential purchases. I wonder how many of these weapons will be available and how much more they’ll cost during the current gun control climate.
You will absolutely LOVE the SR model of any caliber. The striker fired weapons made by Ruger are very different and a lot easier to control your sight acquisition.(they are THIN too) I too was looking at the Ruger 1911 and ended up with the SR40C which is for me much easier to handle. It can be a service weapon with the 15 round mag or concealable with the 9 round mag. and with the right ammo you are just as well off as if you were carrying a .45. Look around when you are ready to buy. There are dealers who are selling Ruger’s at cost plus 10%.
I’ve got Ruger 10/22 myself and love it. Light, durable and very accurate. This is a great looking concept they’ve come up with. It may be time for a new gun!
