Hey everyone I just paid $619 for my Rossi R95 Trapper. This rifle looks good feels good.
The new improvements like the solid firing pin, the black oxide coating, the new exstractor.
I feel like I got a great deal. I saved nearly $400 compared to a Marlin and that’s a lot of money
towards ammo.
How about making MORE 454s? I have one, and would buy another, if they’d make one with a decent price! Handles 45 Long Colt, as well as 454!!!
I noticed some comments about the price of used Winchesters and Marlins! Clearly, they haven’t purchased one lately! Give it a try! You will find a used one for about what these are actually selling for new.
Plenty of used Marlins on the market. I applaud Rossi for the effort, but DAMN. The government doesn’t need to pass gun control, just let the manufacturers price everyone out of gun ownership.
There’s only like a billion used Winchester & Marlins out there for less than half that insane price & probably better made too. Drop it to $495 & maybe somebody would buy it that didn’t know Rossi’s reputation.
Rossi manufactured the affordable Rio Grande Lever Action which was chambered in the 30-30, 35 Remington, and the 45-70. It was a well-built lever action rifle reminiscent of the Marlin 336 and 1895 which this new Rossi seems to be as well. The Rio Grande was also available in stainless steel. I applaud Rossi for bringing some good competition to Ruger with their reintroduction of the overpriced model 336. Marlin at one time was the “working mans” manufacturer of rifles which were of excellent quality and affordable prices. Thank you for the news and review of this new Rossi model.
Really? About $1000 for a Rossi? I would spend the extra $2-300 and get the Ruger version of the Marlin 336 if I needed a .30-30. Fortunately, I already have a 336 that I bought in 1984 and shot my first buck with.
“Exquisite Hardwood Walnut Finish”. I bet they say that with a straight face.
Ha! That was just about my thought exactly! I have a Rossi 92 in .357 that I really like. It’s got some version of that same walnut finish. Scratch the wood and it’s a real light hardwood underneath.
