A robbery victim is in hot water after running down the men who accosted him — in his vehicle.
Quinn Chavez, 18, was robbed by three other teens who held him up with an airsoft gun while he was visiting a public park in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
After the robbers left the scene on foot, Chavez pursued them in his car. He quickly caught up with two of them on Chuckwagon Street, where he proceeded to race toward them, ultimately hitting two of them, sending one flipping into the air.
The two robbers suffered minor injuries from the accident. All three have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Chavez is also facing charges for hitting the men. Authorities said Chavez could have killed the suspects.
“Oh that could have been a fatal injury, very easily,” said Rio Rancho police Capt. Paul Rogers.
“You’re never excused when you’re using your vehicle as a weapon,” added Rogers.
Just like shooting a robber when he is on the run and is no longer an imminent threat, running one over in your car is also against the law. As much as one may be tempted to deliver vigilante justice, it’s best two call the authorities and let them pursue the suspects.
They charged the victim for running garbage over with his car? Who wrote that stupid law?
Who ever came up with these laws is or was a retard. If someone robs you then you should have every right to kill or maim them in anyway you see fit.
yes, he endangered the lives of the robbers, shouldn’t have gone after them, just like shooting a fleeing suspect etc… ok, $25 dollar fine, couple days community service to see the error of his actions….. The suspects probably got all the justice/punishment, on-the-spot, they are going to get.

They are robbers, so they are running today, so they CAN ROB AGAIN TOMORROW! They are still a threat.

Amen, brother. If I see you being robbed, I don’t have the right to run over the robbers when they run away. But if I am held up at gunpoint, you better believe I will react as Mr Chavez did. I do commend him for not backing up and running them over again, as that could be considered exessive.
Maybe that law should be changed. Make it legal to kill thieves, maybe they will stop robhing, and untimately commit iworse crimes.
