RFK Jr. — Reducing Gun Violence Through Gun Control Isn’t Realistic

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Current Events, This Week, Uncategorized

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democratic presidential candidate for 2024, publicly distanced himself from the Democratic Party’s conventional stance on gun control during a town hall with NewsNation on Wednesday.

During the event, an audience member inquired about Kennedy’s strategy to curb gun violence across America.

“For me, it’s a very tough question. I lost my father to gun violence.  I lost my uncle to gun violence,” Kennedy began, invoking the tragic assassinations of his father Robert F. Kennedy in 1968 and his uncle President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

“So, I’m aware and sensitive to the injury it can cause, the generational injury,” he continued.

Considering his personal connection to the issue, many Dems in the audience might expect RFK Jr. to support sweeping gun control measures. However, that’s not the case.

“I do not believe that there is, within that second amendment, that there’s anything we can meaningfully do to reduce the trade in the ownership of guns,” he said, “and I’m not going to take people’s guns away.”

He then voiced skepticism about the efficacy of gun control

“Anybody who tells you that they’re going to be able to reduce gun violence through gun control at this point I don’t think is being realistic,” Kennedy added.

Kennedy’s stance obviously contrasts with the traditional Democratic orthodoxy on guns.

Instead, his words echo the common GOP position that emphasizes the inviolability of Americans’ constitutional rights, including gun ownership under the 2A.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly approaches, Kennedy’s unexpected position on gun control is likely to shape the contours of the race and further stimulate the ongoing debate on the best way to curtail gun violence in America.

Clearly, for RFK Jr., the optimal solution doesn’t involve confiscating guns or infringing on one’s 2A rights.

I like some of what RFK says BUT his being a Democrat causes me concern that, if elected, he’ll do differently than what he says. Granted, this is a major failing of all politicians but I distrust Democrats’ natural tendencies more than I do Republicans.

I recently saw a video of an interview with him saying that while he supports the 2dA, he would sign a gun control bill , “if that’s what the majority wanted”, (paraphrased). So yeah he’s a typical democrat and would move on that within hours if put in the WH.

“gun control by thinking to disarm the population” will somehow prevent criminals, terrorists or demented nutjobs from gaining firearms is actually childish…!
When did those type people EVER obey any law or STOP illegal activity’s they are bent on doing…?
No = an armed citizenry is their own best defence; for any decent person among us will step up to defend innocent people from an assailant if needed…!
Disarming a people is only a tyrannical push to gain total control of a population leaving the citizens defenseless from two & four legged predators and from tyrants who will have the guns to do whatever they wish…!

JFK and RFK’s brother Joe was killed in an aircraft during a WWII mission involving suspicious circumstaces.

Joe’s sister Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy was killed in 1948 in a aircraft craft under suspicious circumstances.

JFK Jr. was killeds in a plane crash involving suspicious circumstances.

JFK was assassinated with a firearm involving suspicious circumstances.

RFK was assassinated with a firearm involving suspicious circumstances.

20 % more of the Kennedys were killed or murdered by aircraft than by firearms. No Kennedy or anyone else calls for the ban on aircraft and in fact RFK Jr. flies all the time. The 1968 GCA was fueled by the RFK and JFK assassinations and the LBJ Administration pushed for the 1968 GCA even though he is the “usual suspect” in the JFK assasination.

Looks to me like LBJ, the GCA were both a tools of the deep state, masters of the Hegelian dialectic

Kennedy is a stinking liar and a Democrat, that’s redundant because that’s one and the same. I call BS. Just yesterday 6/29/23 news came out from AWR Hawkins that Kennedy said in an interview he would sign an “assault weapon ban”. There is nothing else that needs to be said, he’s a POS just like the rest of them.

I tried to confirm your allegations against “Kennedy” specifically RFK Jr. and found nothing along the lines of that above statement. Can you provide more details or anything that will support your post? There is still plenty that needs to be said.

  • Rex June 30, 2023, 10:06 am

But banning “assault” weapons will. Right Robert? Never forget RFK Jr is a political elitist.

    I wish he wasn’t a democrat. Because I won’t EVER vote for a democrat.
And I realize that republicans can’t fix all of our problems but you can be sure that democrats are the cause of our problems.

“For me, it’s a very tough question. I lost my father to gun violence. I lost my uncle to gun violence,” -RFK Jr.

“I do not believe that there is, within that second amendment, that there’s anything we can meaningfully do to reduce the trade in the ownership of…” -RFK Jr.

“and I’m not going to take people’s guns away.” -RFK Jr.

“Anybody who tells you that they’re going to be able to reduce gun violence through gun control at this point I don’t think is being realistic,” -RFK Jr.

All those quotes seem very shallow especially the first one listed. RFK Jr. has gone on record accusing the CIA at the behest of the terminated CIA Director Allen Dulles to assassinate the POTUS (JFK), RFK Jr’s uncle.

So, how can he use the Orwellian style term “gun violence.”? The accusation against Dulles (which I happen to believe is true) is one of the greatest gravity that could be made against the agency. To believe that the CIA murdered the President of the US means that our whole system and values are a long running deception.

Also, RFK Jr. believes there where more that one shooter involved in the assassination of his father and he seems to totally have exonerated Sirhan Sirhan. I would expect more profound statements from a politician who believes that the assassination of his father and uncle are elaborate charades. Instead RFK Jr. offers standard cautious Democrat talking points the 2A.

BTW, the asssassination of JFK could NOT have been conducted by the CIA without the participation of the highest levels of RFK Jr’s Democratic Party having participated (LBJ) before, during and after the fact.

    • Texas patriot June 30, 2023, 7:21 am

Highest levels of both parties and a whole list of deep staters.

      • Kane June 30, 2023, 9:57 am

Yes, there seems to be at the very least a Nixon connection and a even more curiously a GHWB connection to the JFK assassination.

Look at how many obscure press agents became household names after their reports from Dallas in November 1963.

Still, LBJ was a maniac who may have even raped David Brinkley’s wife while she was a guest at the ranch.

    • mtman2 July 2, 2023, 9:32 am

Its speculated as with Oswald Sirhan was not the shooter of RFK but a patsy fall guy…!

  • Bill Carter June 29, 2023, 11:33 am

The more I hear this guy, the more I like him AND I consider myself an independent voter!
Hmmm. Would he be a viable VP candidate to run with Trump????

    • SJ June 30, 2023, 3:30 pm

Just yesterday he said he is open to an assault weapon ban. Snake.

    • Jim July 1, 2023, 4:08 pm

Bill, many people would love that, but it is a 99% NO. Trump is not going to choose any running mate that can show him up. Trump’s ego is always present, and often gives him the confidence he needs to do great things. But it will not allow him to choose anyone for VP who might go counter to him.

Look at how weak Pence was, and is. He was the perfect choice as a VP, based on Trump’s ego.

No matter who runs on the ticket, it is an uphill battle to beat liars and cheaters…
