Republican Lawmakers Voice Support for AR Ban

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Current Events, This Week

In the wake of the deadly attack at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, last week, at least two Republican lawmakers have come forward to voice support for banning AR-pattern rifles.

Rep. Chris Jacobs (R-NY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) have indicated that they would both vote for prohibitions on America’s best-selling rifle

Kinzinger told CNN’s State of the Union” that while he’s “open” to a ban, he’d also consider supporting a law that requires “additional certification” (see video above).

“It’s going to depend on what it looks like because there’s a lot of nuances on what constitutes, you know, certain things,” Kinzinger said. “But for somebody to own one, maybe you need an extra license, maybe you need extra training, so the question is is it a ban versus additional certification?”

Kinzinger added that while “99.9 percent” of AR-owners are not going to shoot up schools, movie theaters, and supermarkets, GOP lawmakers who support the 2A have to be “coming to the table with ways to mitigate 18-year-olds buying these guns and walking into schools—my side’s not doing that.”

Likewise, Rep. Jacobs said he would vote for one, though he stopped short of supporting mandatory “buyback” programs and other forms of thinly-veiled confiscation.

“If an assault weapons ban bill came to the floor that would ban something like an AR-15, I would vote for it,” Jacobs said at a Friday press conference. “So I want to be clear: I would vote for it.”

Jacobs, who was endorsed by the NRA in 2020, also said it might be time to prohibit magazines with a capacity over 10 rounds.

“I think it’s reasonable to say: does a civilian need more than a 10-round magazine in their guns?” Jacobs asked.

It’s well documented that “personal weapons,” aka hands, fists, and feet kill more people each year in this country than all rifles combined (or rifles as an entire category), which of course includes the unfairly maligned AR-15.

Per FBI data, there were 455 rifle homicides in 2020 compared to 662 deaths from “personal weapons” in the context of the 17,813 reported homicides.

While there is a category of gun homicides where the type of firearm is not recorded, which means the number of rifle homicides may indeed be slightly higher, the fact remains that rifles are used in a low percentage of annual homicides, and in less than 3 percent of total homicides in 2020.

Given this data, it’s hard to see how even a total, confiscatory ban on ARs would make a difference, especially when one also considers that even most mass killers use handguns to perpetrate their attacks.

By the numbers, handguns were involved in 77 percent of mass shootings between 1982 and May 2022, according to statista.com.

Nevertheless, the legality of modern sporting rifles remains a central focus in the current 2A debate:

What..exactly is a “ well REGULATED militia” ?…what and how do military organizations and police organizations regulate weapons and ammo ?..Do they let anyone at anytime have access to weapon s?..Do they train said members?Do they any background checks or mental evaluations?..if you can answer these questions honestly…maybe you can find the truth !..or you can continue to lie to yourself because it makes you feel good!..what about a kids right to feel safe and secure?..does that trump your imaginary need to combat so called a tyrannical government with tanks, mfs, rockets and planes ??..FOOLS !

Ya know, I grew up in Nebraska. Hunting was big there. I’d go hunting with dad at an early age so I knew how to use a rifle and handgun.
At age 17, I owned a car that had an engine with a pinging noise. People told me I need to get rid of it before a rod ends up going through the hood of the car. I placed it for sale and someone offered a Browning .380 and a colored 21″ TV. Colored, 21″? A handgun at age 17?
I moved away from my parents at age 16. They were divorcing and it was WWIII at home. Being young and on my own, I learned how to buy keggers on the weekend so I could charge my buddies $5 to attend my kegger party, girls were free. I also worked 2 jobs to pay my bills. I was an underage drinker, an underage handgun owner, Nebraska law was 21 for handguns. The one thing I couldn’t buy was ammo for the .380. I didn’t really care. I didn’t trade my car for it so I could shot it. My eyes were more set on the colored TV. The gun was just a conversation piece.
Then at age 19, I got drunk and did something really stupid while drinking and driving. Ended up with a felony. Felons can’t own guns but I did up until the day I got my felony pardoned. Keep in mind, it is also a felony to own a gun as a felon… only if you get caught.
Today, I own maybe 7 or 8 guns. I hate some people but I’m not going to do out and shoot them. What I really think needs to happen is not hold felons from owning a gun as long as they can provide 25 non-criminal people to sign off for them claiming they feel safe with this person owning a gun. The 25 signature thing shouldn’t be for just felons only. That should go for everyone. As long as the 25 people don’t have as much as a misdemeanor or their record, they are good to go.
Also, they really should raise the age to 21 for all guns but not be banned from guns as long as they are with a responsible adult who has been signed off to own a gun. I am certain that these mass shootings were done by loners who wouldn’t be able to come up with 25 people to sign off for them.
Most of us all grew up in the USA, we went to school. We have classmates and spend time on social media with classmates. I wasn’t the most popular in high school, but I could at least find 25 classmates with a clean bill of health to sign off for me. Some might say I was a little crazy but not crazy enough to walk in somewhere and open fire on people. Maybe if I was in Ukraine, I’d go Russian hunting. Hang some signs that read “Russian Hunting, Shoot to Kill”

KInzinger bite me i’ve been shooting gun before your were born. Have you ever looked at the pattern of these shootings. I’ve counted 4 so for that have been done by 18 year olds. kids that have had problems that everyone has over looked time and again. You blame the gun. Your an idiot, it’s not the gun that killed these kids and adults. It was the shooter that had mental issues The laws we we have now work. change the age from 18 to 21 won’t do anything. If your 18 and wanting to purchase an AR-15 you must have a parent with you and the parent will also sign for the gun. This makes the parent just as responsible. Banning the AR-15 won’t do a damn thing. The criminals will always get there hands on AR-15 or AK-47 or some other long gun. I have a AR-15 that I bought for my son but will never ever take it out and use it unless I’m with him. All my weapons are in a large gun safe and i’m the only one with the combination.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Maybe much of the US populace and politicians have reached the point where we no longer deserve a free society. Who should be held accoutable for the destruction of the Great US Republic? Who has transformed the mores and norms of a once great nation? Who has turned children into maniacs?

The NRA? The SAF? The GOA? I would like to see that argument made if anyone would ever try.

One the other hand there are other groups that I certainly blame including but NOT limited too; FBI, NSA, CIA, Big Pharma, teachers union, DNC, RNC, the “entertainment industrial ” complex, LGBTQ, lame stream media…

Human beings are extremely innovative. Be they criminals or law abiding. Any ANY firearms ban will lead to the human mind preparing for either taking innocent lives or protecting innocent lives. ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ … especially when a government dictates what is necessary for you to protect your family – or not. Citizens mentally ‘draw a line in the sand’ on what they accept from our so called leadership in Washington – especially when it comes to how and what is used to protect our families. Many would rather die fighting tyranny than live subservient to those who couldn’t care one iota about our Constitution.

  • kb31416 June 6, 2022, 9:18 am

To say that POS Adam Kinzinger is a Republican is about as true as those that claim that Biden or Pelosi are Roman Catholic.
The story should have also emphasized that this pitiful and detestable RINO is not running for re-election because he knows that he would loose. As others have stated, this lump of shit couldn’t win an uncontested election for dog catcher.

  • Paul B June 6, 2022, 9:02 am

I totally agree with what “Stan d. Upnow” said, the government really does not care about people dying, they only care about 2 things, Money and control. If they can disarm the citizens of the weapons that could cause them issues on their quest to turn the US into a Marxist country!
If they cared about kids dying they would have security put in place at every school in the country a long time ago. They could make that happen very quickly, but they don’t want to protect anyone, they want to get more mass shootings to persuade more people that gun control is the answer, Gun control is NOT THE ANSWER!
Does anyone remember Biden, saying we would need “F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons” to fight back against them, I do! That comment told me a lot

  • Rolf Steiner June 6, 2022, 7:22 am

It’s easy to recognize the condescending attitude of liberals in some of these posts who are inebriated in their own hubris of righteousness and intent on provoking their ideological opponents who in their response, boast of standing tall and resisting any attempts at disarming them.

I am a gun owner. I have many guns. I once carried for the government. I wasn’t in the military but was trained by them for an alphabet agency. I had no power of arrest. No authority to detain anyone. I was however, a shooter. Period. I don’t know what I would do if they knocked on my door telling me to surrender what I have. I guess it would depend on my mood. I may revert to my training and become the monster I once was or I may say take what you can find. I can’t make any predictions.

I do however oppose any attempts at gun legislation of any type. They are talking about raising the age to 21 nationwide to purchase a semi-auto rifle or shotgun to which I say, If at 18 you’re old enough to die for your country in a land far far away, then you should have the right to buy an AR and liquor too although the combination can lead to unpleasantness. If you have to wait to be 21 to buy both, then raise the age to 21 to serve your country.

Gun owners don’t walk into the emotional trap these liberals construct for you. Let them post their provocative poison unopposed and eventually they will fade away when their rantings go unanswered.

    • John Boutwell June 6, 2022, 10:44 am

They have not faded since the stamp act in the 1920’s not going to happen now.

  • Joe June 6, 2022, 7:13 am

Guess they will figure it out when the war starts.

  • Ej harbet June 6, 2022, 7:11 am

At this point I want them to ban effective fighting weapons. Yeah I said it! We must be pushed into fixing our tyrants problem and maybe being forced into turning in the most popular rifle and trading g19 mags that hold 15rds in for one’s that hold 5 rounds will make us stand up and be counted. We’ll be free when the survivors of the tyrants who we didn’t put in landfills cross the nearest international border and never come back. Or when the last ones who love liberty are in landfills and the land of the free is no longer.

Everyone seems to forget that in 1990 then Senator Joe Biden authored the Gun Free School Zone Act. And yet we see that these ‘gun free zones’ are where most of these heinous crimes take place.

On 6/1/2022 During a press briefing when ask on Hardening Schools, arming Police and teachers – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated President Biden does not believe the path forward involves hardening schools.

5/26/2022: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer blocked passage of a Republican/ Democrat co- sponsored bill named after two victims of the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting, which would codify a clearinghouse of information for school safety practices into law and provide School funding for: Police / Armed guard(s), Single point of entry and Teacher training. In a statement afterward: Schumer (D-NY) killed the bill in favor of gun confiscation!

5/30/2022: Biden goes on anti-gun tirade, suggests there’s ‘no rational basis’ for 9mm pistols.” Biden said. “A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.

Let’s face it this is not about protecting our kids or school safety… Nope. It’s about the Democrats disarming US Citizens!

Historic Fact: Governments have disarmed and executed over 262 million of their own people in the 20th Century. So, please tell me again why Governments should be the only one with guns?

In closing: Do not let people who surround themselves with barbed wire, armed soldiers and armed security teams tell you that you cannot own a firearm to defend yourself.

This article brings up good points but misses out on the fact that mentally unstable persons can easily acquire a gun. Why don’t we focus on making getting a gun, or at least any revolver or automatic reloading firearm, eligible only if passing a mental stability test set up by the FBI? Sure there will be loopholes but it is something to start moving the country in a much better direction and protecting the most innocent.

    • Stan d. Upnow June 4, 2022, 2:25 pm

FBI? Did you just say that your RIGHT to own a firearm should be contingent on passing a “mental stability” test set-up by the FBI? Are you meaning the same corrupt, treasonous FBI that was part of a coup to topple a sitting president; that FBI?

      • Tony June 5, 2022, 2:36 pm

How can anyone even hint that trump was anything other than a wanna-be autocrat/dictator? Many people here talk about loss of rights, well don’t kid yourselves, you ain’t seen anything losses unless a psycho ego-maniac like trump gets in power. Unbelievably, many folks here don’t have the mental ability to see through the clouds, they won’t even investigate his numerous obvious transgressions and crimes against the American public,.,..,your little closed minds are so limited they is no ability to process truths and facts that might not be in synchronized with sone idiots desires. These are the dangers to our Democracy,

        • Let's go Brandon, FJB June 6, 2022, 10:12 am

@ Tony, You have no right to talk about someone’s mental ability when you say Trump was a dictator. America was in better shape when Trump was in office. Now we have a geriatric patient that gaffes everyday and is destroying this country. I know it’s difficult for imbeciles like you to not sound ignorant but, don’t make it very obvious.

        • EasyEddie June 6, 2022, 10:17 am

The list is long but if you can’t see any of it form yourself then you are a lost lemming following the BS trail.
It is UNbelievable that folks don’t see these crimes – they are far more than “transgressions” they are existential to Democracy since just a few of trump crimes are in direct contempt of democracy. Did you get any historical education – do you know anything about democracy. Why are there so many ignorant people here that cannot accept the truth but think the truth is as THEY interpret it or as THEY would like it to be.
WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE….”US was better under trump” – are you a complete brain-dead pinhead…is it possible that people can be soooo ignorant and blind to the truth as to accept any lies they hear due to total Compliance Bias

    • Joe Rhodes June 4, 2022, 9:46 pm

There is a problem with an FBI administered test to own firearms. With Merrill Garland types running the DOJ. The test could be very arbitrary and a ‘passing’ grade could depend on your political affiliation.

  • Pete June 3, 2022, 2:02 pm

OK, the left and the democrats have set the new low bar for adhering to the law. Their strategy is clear, they will do whatever they want, knowing it is against the law, and put the onus on those who object to litigate those executive orders, laws or directives. They know litigation will take years during which their illegal laws, directives or executive orders will be ingrained in the countries behavior and conscious. So following their lead, it seems to me that they can do what ever they want, and we can ignore their actions. If they choose to try and enforce their illegal actions we’ll have to see what happens.

    • Tony June 5, 2022, 2:45 pm

What in the world are you babbling about – you are rambling on with no context, just s hot gun ignorant BS. You make no sense, you don’t focus on anything except your absurd statements….what “illegal laws?”
What is “against the law?” These concepts do not depend upon interpretations spinning around in your little mind – they have definitions and codifications that YOU might no like, but, be aware you are still in a Democracy (notwithstanding Trumps efforts to end it) and laws, etc. don’t revolve around your preferred understandings.before you make a fool of yourself, which you must do often, THINK (if you can), and then recognize you don’t know what you are talking about, so just shut up!

  • 2WarAbnVet June 3, 2022, 12:54 pm

The answer to that 10-round magazine question is YES! You may ask why, and our nation’s Founders can provide the answer …

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” – Thomas Jefferson

“We bear arms to keep from becoming enslaved by the federal government AND to protect ourselves from the tyranny of OUR REPRESENTATIVES, whose dereliction leads us to suffer the same fate of foreign nations.” – George Mason

“A armed man is a citizen, a unarmed man is a slave”.  John Adams

“Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American. … [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.” – Tench Coxe, Delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress

A basic law of physics is “For every action, there is an equal and opposite REaction”. We are seeing the “reaction” from decades of dumbing down our children in the public school system. The voters have elected puppets into positions of power on the promise of “free” handouts.
Automobiles kill many times more people than guns, let’s eliminate cars and trucks. That will save lives, but we can expect shortages of everything very shortly there after. When the puppet that is in the White House now starts flying in an electric airplane, then I will think about and electric truck.
Abortions kill millions of innocent babies every year in the USA. I don’t see congress passing legislation to out law abortion.
This is all about political power, and control.

  • Richard Manfredi June 3, 2022, 11:22 am

More red herrings, more ineffective ideas, can the USA do better ? Yes, mental cases are known in the public school system by the fourth or fifth grade; they are most certainly identified by the time they leave high school. Psychiatrists(MD) , school counseling professionals, private practitioners, hospitals can submit basic data ( name, DOB, ssn , to NICS, so ANY purchase of a ANY FIREARM by ANY UNBALANCED ,or MEDICATED person can be stopped. They should have some appeal rights to avoid spanking laws , and false claims from vindictive people
The entire FOCUS should be shifted from GUNS to MENTALLY UNBALANCED INDIVIDUALS .

  • Jake June 3, 2022, 10:35 am

Only “free people” own guns. Fear the government that fears your ownership of guns. Figure it out. They want to rule you and have the ability to dictate what you can have. They don’t want you to have the ability to overthrow them.
Take a lesson from WW1 and WW2. We “loaned” the British guns in both wars. What happened to those guns after each war? They didn’t remain in the hands of the British people, they didn’t return to the United States either. They were dumped into the English channel, why? You wouldn’t want an armed populace that could determine what kind of Government they wanted.
The people in power want to get more power. The only way they can do that is to change the balance. Our freedoms are being eroded. Our values are being eroded. Our money is being eroded. Our society is a system of checks and balances, without those, things get ugly in a hurry. Without the ability to defend yourself and your freedoms, it won’t last long. Once they gain the upper hand you won’t get it back without a serious fight.
Today it’s an AR-15, tomorrow it’s all semi-auto guns, then they’ll say you don’t need a gun at all. The police will protect you they’ll say. Think that’s true? How long does it take for the police to get to your home now? Quick enough to save your life? I think you already know the answer to that.

  • THOMAS JEFFERSON June 3, 2022, 10:30 am

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP A BAD GUY WITH A GUN, IS A GOOD GUY WITH A GUN! LIKE THE BORDER PATROL OFFICER WHO BARGED INTO THE UVALDE SCHOOL AND TERMINATED THE 18 YR. OLD. THIS WAS WHILE THE UVALDE COPS STOOD AROUND LIKE COWARDS INSTEAD OF ASSAULTING THE SCHOOL KILLER. THEY WERE BUSY PEPPER SPRAYING THE PARENTS WHO THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ENTRANCE TO GET THEIR KIDS.

ALSO DESTROY EVERY “GUN FREE ZONE” SIGN. THEY ARE AN OPEN INVITATION TO ENTER A SCHOOL AND MURDER KIDS. THIS MUST HAPPEN NATIONWIDE, AND THEN THESE MASSACURES WILL STOP AS THE KILLERS ARE COWARDS. EVERY K-12 SCHOOL IN AMERICA MUST HAVE ARMED GUARDS POSTED WITH
AR-15’S, THEN THE CARNAGE WILL STOP.

SIGNED, THOMAS JEFFERSON AUTHOR OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT.

  • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 9:53 am

Rep. Adam “Quislinger” is nothing other than a Progressive-Socialist plant in the GOP. He and Liz Cheney are both 5th Columnists. Add Jacobs to that list, too. There are also all too many RINO’s, who cannot be counted on to do the right thing for the country. Romney, Collins, & Murkowski are but a few of them.
We need a top-to-bottom purging of the federal govt.. That includes the alphabet agencies that have been totally corrupted.
I’m all for pushing that horse out of the barn, then slamming the door shut so that he can’t get back in!

    • Jake June 3, 2022, 10:27 am

Quislinger has a C or D rating from the NRA before this latest stunt. His district was divided up as one of the seats Illinois lost due to so many people moving out. He can never be elected as a Republican again after all of his backstabbing. He’s a wannabe ass clown and all of his treachery is probably to get a gig on some crap network like MSNBC as if anyone cares what he has to say. People like “Morning Joe & His Ho” will love encouraging him to make ultra RINO comments against Republicans all day long.
12 of his relatives sent him a letter telling him he has “joined the Devil’s Army.

      • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 11:41 am

Yeah, I’m always SMH when the MSM Leftists have the usual back-stabbing RINO’s on interview with the preface of–
“…and now representing the viewpoint of the Republicans is Rep./Sen.(fill-in the blank).”

It’s like any of the jackasses saying “90% of Americans” favor more gun control. Like the biased poll they’re citing has any basis in reality. Journalist? Merriam-Webster needs to delete that word from their dictionary; they don’t exist anymore.

  • Warren Hill June 3, 2022, 9:31 am

Oh, progressive weasel anti gun republicans from antigun states?!?!?!?! What else is new?!?!?!?

  • Johnk June 3, 2022, 9:25 am

Kinzinger is not a Republican, he is a professional politician wanna be. He ousted a true Republican, Don Manzullo, after Democratically gerrymandered “re-districting” replaced a Republican District with a mixed District. Kinzinger successfully rode the fence as a half-and-half. Ever since, he has tried to appeal to both sides with an eye to becoming governor. Unfortunately (for him), he outed himself being anti-Trump which doomed his Congressional career as a “Republican”. He couldn’t win his District for the position of Dog-Catcher.

  • Bill June 3, 2022, 8:46 am

As always the idiot lawmakers come crawling out of the woodwork and spout their foolish ideas to punish the gun rather than the one who squeezed the trigger. It’s the same crap we’ve been fed for decades with the same results. Our diminishing right to self-defense is always the gun grabber’s faulty solution. Doing the same wrong and unworkable solution over and over again is simply insane. Why are the elected lawmakers not required to pass a background check before putting additional restrictions on the American public? Stupid is as stupid does.

  • Randy D June 3, 2022, 8:42 am

How ’bout we blame the cars for DUI drivers, the bars and bottles for drunks, drugs (and drug companies – now that’s an idea) for drug addicts, spoons and forks for the fat people, high rises for people jumping off of them, water for people drowning etc etc. Or HOW ’bout a new idea – PEOPLE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS. NO ONE IS TO BLAME BUT THE PERSON WHO DID THE ACTION. LEO’s also have a DUTY TO ACT. THAT DOES NOT MEAN STANDING IN A HALLWAY FOR 1 HOUR AND 17 MINUTES. STANDING IN A HALLWAY FOR 1 HOUR AND 17 MINUTES IS FAILURE TO ACT AND IS A FEDERAL FELONY!

  • Phil June 3, 2022, 8:32 am

I didn’t realize there was an age limit in the Constitution. Aside, “gun free zones” made by those same pols are flat wrong. Those pols are responsible. Red Flag laws are asinine. If one is so dangerous, why would one not be in jail? Look around the world. Mexica and Ukraine have huge restrictions of firearms. Hows rhat working out?

  • David Reed June 3, 2022, 8:10 am

After a few Decades of living in this World you develop a sixth sense for sensing patterns ,Blatant BULLSHIT and probability {especially if you happen to have a brain that is geared towards these things to begin with  } These frequent killings of groups of RANDOM innocent people  simply aren’t possible! People in the US — If they actually are going to arrive at a point where they’re willing to kill a group of people — are many thousand times more likely to kill a group of people that they feel engaged in injustice against them or people they know or care about!! If these random mass killings were legitimate there would simultaneously be many thousand times more killings & bombings of politicians CEOs bosses in meetings malpractice doctors churches involved in molestation police departments ect!!!Killings of random people in schools, movie theaters, restaurants & such would be virtually non-existent in comparison!!!   But if the CIA   FBI  were staging events to scare people into believing that they are not safe anywhere!!! And that POLICE STATE expansion and support of MILITARY invasion is NEEDED to keep them SAFE well then what we are currently seeing is EXACTLY what you would expect to see!!!!!!! BUY MORE AMMO

  • Nicholas June 3, 2022, 7:48 am

At this point, the so-called pro-2nd community must lift the veil that has been placed over their eyes. We are not going to win this fight using the impotent “individual right theory”. We need to stop the nonsense of pretending that we know the what and the why of the 2nd. It is there to make sure that we maintain the lawful authority that the Framers placed into the Constitution.
The original Constitution requires that the states maintain an ORGANIZED, ARMED, and DISCIPLINED MILITIA composed of able-bodied men operating according to the state Militia statutes that have been in force since colonial times.
Militia defined in Law, not people who just say they are, is charged by the Constitution “to execute the Laws of the Union.” What is one of the Laws of the Union? “[T]he right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Then of course there is the primary human instinct of self-defense.
These things, and other unalienable rights, for Heavens sake most people can’t even get that word right, would be protected by Militia. So, despite all the unintelligent comments on the “individual right”, Mom, Sis, Uncle Joe, or whomever, would have their “individual right” to keep and bear arms protected.
Another function of Militia is to “repel Invasions.” If you forcefully disarm the militia and prevent it from repelling an invasion, as we currently are experiencing, then you have committed an act of Treason in accordance with a ruling issued by Justice John Marshall two centuries ago.
The topic is there for education, but the pro-2nd community wants nothing to do with winning the battle and stopping, what is now, the quick descent into tyranny. There is simply too much false pride, and the inability to admit that you’ve been duped by both sides of the argument.
Start winning the fight with law instead of what incompetent lawyers spew out. A Russian dissident and former KGB, has warned that what they have planned for the American people is horrific. If you don’t see it manifesting right in front of us, I feel sorry for all our children.

    • Phil June 3, 2022, 8:36 am

      Good points Sir!

    • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 11:50 am

Seems like the logical conclusion to your argument is an armed reaction by the “militia” right now, before it’s too late. Is that correct?

    • John Boutwell June 6, 2022, 8:22 pm

You should understand that the militia is make up of armed citizens?
That is what the framer’s intended to stop the tyrannical leadership of our government.

  • Alan1018 June 3, 2022, 7:38 am

If an 18 year old is not responsible enough to own a rifle then they are not responsible enough to vote. A bad vote is much more dangerous to the country as we see every day.

  • Jerry June 3, 2022, 6:58 am

So let me get this straight: if you’re 18 you won’t be able to buy an ar in.223 but you’ll be able to buy avremington 7400 or browning bar in 30/06? Politicians need to learn what the hell they’re talking about before speaking. ( better to not say anything & have people think you’re a fool than say something & remove all doubt). 2 questions that should ALWAYS be asked of the anti-ar crowd: 1) what is an assault rifle. What is the definition of a criminal.

  • Mike Keeney June 3, 2022, 5:47 am

Kinsinger is a traitor to the Constitution.

  • BJG June 3, 2022, 5:40 am

What else would you expect from New York and Illinois? Both democrat commie run states. Although Illinois is almost completely Red except for metro Chicago.

  • Blue Dog (he/him) June 2, 2022, 4:42 pm

We in the firearm enthusiast community like to say that the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots. How many children must water that tree? Sacrificing schoolchildren on the altar of AR-15s, like Canaanites to Molech. Adonai judged King Manasseh, so too he will judge us. How long will America be in exile? All for the false pagan god of assault weapons.

    • Patriot June 3, 2022, 7:53 am

Blueballs..you’re still the same clueless libtard who wants to blame the tool and not the moron behind the tool.how about this for a plan, how about parents go back to ACTUALLY PARENTING their kids instead of letting them lock themselves in their room with their faces glued to a computer or phone,if a parent can’t see their kids turning, then their likely not doing much parenting,as for a ban,,good luck with that, there are millions of AR’s out there, and there’s no way in hell you’ll ever change that.

    • Frank June 3, 2022, 8:10 am

      Blue Dog (Man-bun, ear-plug, nose-ring)

I normally don’t respond to your communist tirades, because you ignore well documented facts and are basically… full of shit. If however, you truly believe all the nonsensical trash you spew, why don’t you move to Canada, Australia New Zealand, or better yet… China. In any one of those nations you’ll be right at home with a bunch of other defenseless, emasculated sheep who have no other recourse except to bow before their government oppressors. You will NEVER be welcome in a community of Patriots, and you’re damn sure no “firearm enthusiast”. I will not waste my time countering your illogical, cry-baby, emotional statements with truth. You suffer from a severe case of Cranial Rectalitis, for which there is no treatment or cure.

    • NoStepOnSnake June 3, 2022, 9:52 am

F your pronouns. GTFO with that nonsense. You are contributing to the death of the Republic.

    • Actual Gun Owner (sire/your royal highness) June 3, 2022, 10:48 am

Blue dog turd, please don’t use the term “we” with respect to the “firearm enthusiast community”, because you are obviously some Kalifornia libtard that almost certainly does not own guns, or if you do, they should be confiscated for your own benefit. You are not part of the “community”.
      Two points:
      1. 2A: absolute, non-negotiable. Don’t like that? Tough shit.
      2. I would suggest that you do your part to prevent rapes by cutting off your own penis, but you have probably already done that. After all, if removing AR-15s will prevent shootings …

    • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 12:24 pm

Assault weapons? There are Very few actual assault weapons owned by civilians. If you want to acquire one, you must 1) get lucky enough to find one available; 2) get through a mountain of govt. red tape; 3) have a carload of cash(they ain’t cheap!). To the point, the AR, AK, and other guns sold on the commercial market are NOT assault weapons, despite what you and your stupid Leftist comrades keep repeating for political purposes.

You say that the firearm enthusiast community is sacrificing children to those who own AR-15’s. THAT is the singular most asinine, egregious comment I’ve yet heard! It really brands you as total jackass!

Funny that with all the corrections & repudiations leveled at your posts, you just shrug them all off and push-on with your warped, erroneous, Leftist propaganda. That tells me why you’re here. Go back to Salon, or HuffyPuffy Post.

      • Blue Dog (he/him) June 3, 2022, 4:16 pm

Stan, I don’t see many corrections to my posts; rather, I see a lot of guys pointing out that our philosophies and definitions differ. Take the phrase assault weapons, for example. It is pretty obvious from your post that you are using a narrower definition of the term, that an assault weapon has to be automatic, either fully automatic or some kind of burst. I choose to use the dictionary definition, that semi-automatic firearms can be assault weapons, such as an AR or AK pattern rifle off the shelf from your basic American gun counter. The kind of rifle that has been used… what is it, 8 times for highly publicized mass shootings in the last month? Of those rifles used, how many were purchased in the week before the shooting? AR-15s and AKs are too dangerous for America!

        • Stan d. Upnow June 4, 2022, 3:02 pm

You want corrections? OK, here comes one.
Modern, actual, military assault weapons were developed specifically for the CQB conditions of trench warfare during WW1. The requirements were predominantly a weapon that was compact & quick-handling due to the confined conditions in the trenches. Knives and even sharpened shovels were often employed for that reason. As for firearms, the pump-action shotgun was a favored weapon, as were handguns. Assault teams will frequently utilize compact SMG’s, like the HK MP-5.
The AR-15 and AK-47,74’s are patterned after standard issue military small arms, though modified, and are Not considered purposeful assault weapons.

There’s your correction. Now, let’s see what you do with it.

        • John Boutwell June 6, 2022, 8:29 pm

With 11 million AR rifles in this country nearly all owned by law abiding citizens you have no argument, you are just speaking rubbish, you are a fool.

        • John Boutwell June 6, 2022, 8:36 pm

The only reason anyone in this country wants any firearm banned is so they can freely control the population in any manner they desire

    • Elapid King June 6, 2022, 5:46 pm

Wait a minute, I thought left wing nutjobs like you loved the idea of dead children. Aren’t you the ones who keep telling us that women should have the choice to kill their children whenever they like for whatever reason they like? I’m sure that you rejoice to no end whenever children are killed, just like every other Democrat out there.

  • Billy Wilson June 1, 2022, 5:25 pm

Many of these Republicans are just praying the left will support them, they should just declare they are Democrats.

  • Rick June 1, 2022, 5:20 pm

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is losing his seat this year and is so anti-America that he should run for office in Chicago as a Democrat.

  • CPO Bill June 1, 2022, 4:53 pm

They don’t know their ass from and ar!

  • Jim K June 1, 2022, 2:48 pm

OK Adam, you’ve had your chance and ultimately failed. Wish it was different but alas, it’s not. Guess the Air Force will need to get rid of their assault rifles if any those airmen are under 21???

    • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 12:28 pm

After Quislinger, now I understand why members of other service branches always scoffed at the Air Force guys.

  • Don June 1, 2022, 12:15 pm

So this article, by supplying data to support that most homicides are handguns not rifles is actually fueling support for a handgun ban instead. At the end of the day you can yell at these Republicans, but if you’re not part of the conversation and have a seat at the table then decisions will be made without you.

    • S.H. Blannelberry June 1, 2022, 1:06 pm

      RE: handgun ban, definitely NOT.

Proposing a ban on handguns is a complete non-starter because they are also the firearm most often used by good guys to defend themselves in public. Plus our right to bear arms, aka carry arms, is most conducive to smaller pattern firearms, i.e. handguns. Banning handguns would not pass Constitutional muster.

    • Stan d. Upno June 3, 2022, 12:40 pm

It’s not “instead,” Don. Banning ALL firearms in civilian hands is the endgame. The AR is just the poster boy for the gun-banners because it resembles our current infantry service weapon. So, the idiots on the Left point to it and attempt to scare the other idiots in the public sphere by calling them “weapons of war.”
Don’t forget the 200+ firearms on Sen. Feinstein’s Ban List of a few years ago. The criteria for making that list was as general as: semi-auto; detachable box magazine; pistol grip; vertical forward grip; and even a barrel shroud.
My Rem 750 hunting rifle would certainly make that list! Now you see where they’re wanting to go with this.

  • Dee June 1, 2022, 10:56 am

The RINO’s need to be voted OUT!!

  • Gary Smith June 1, 2022, 10:18 am

So, now we learned that even the so-called Republicans from NY & IL are not really Republicans. They are RINO’s. No wonder those states are so screwed up (striving to be like California).

  • Brian June 1, 2022, 9:53 am

So by this logic every politician needs 20 years of ethics training. Nepotism training sex abuse and illegal graft extortion training because can’t trust a politician not to be a stealing common street walker ? And a monthly review of action s and votes. To put them in jail for illegal actions.

  • Sick Puppy June 1, 2022, 9:38 am

The RINO’s have joined the Demonicrats in blaming firearm, which is an inanimate object. It’s the SHOOTER that we should look at, not the tool. BTW, I am a karate black belt.

    • Stan d. Upnow June 3, 2022, 12:58 pm

Geez, you(and others) STILL don’t get it. The Progressive-Socialists do not care about the perpetrators, or even the victims, for that matter. It’s about using a tragedy as an excuse to advance their civilian disarmament agenda. Period. If it were otherwise, all the Antifa/BLM rioting, looting, murder would have been snuffed on day one. They would be focusing on the criminals committing murder in the cities on a daily basis.
Rather, they are obsessed with prosecuting any participants on Jan. 6 as “right-wing extremist insurrectionists.”
And by extension, branding all those on the Right as “domestic terrorists.” The law says people who are such cannot own firearms. C’mon dude, a 5th-grader can connect the dots.
