A Topeka, Kansas, concealed carrier drew down on a pair of armed robbers, stopping the crime and saving the day. And it’s all thanks to a new gun law that allows citizens to carry a concealed firearm without a permit.
Joey Tapley, 24, was inside the Academy Sports and Outdoors store when two masked teens stormed in and scooped several rifles and some petty cash. Tapley waited until he had the upper hand, then pursued the crooks as they fled from the store. After some verbal Judo, Tapley convinced the robbers that the best course of action would be for them to drop the stolen guns.
“I told him to drop the gun man, mine is loaded, just drop the gun,” Tapley recounted. “We made eye contact for a second or two and he dropped two guns and ran.”
Responding police officers quickly apprehended the suspects and booked them into the Juvenile Center on charges of assault, burglary, and robbery. A female was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
But none of this would have been possible if it weren’t for Governor Brownback’s approval of a new law that allows Kansas residents to carry a concealed firearm without going through the endless red tape of a permitting process.
“That’s why Kansas made the law,” said Tapley. “So citizens can carry and protect themselves and others. I guess my instincts just took over.”
Thanks to Tapley’s actions, the stolen goods were recovered and the teens were relieved of their weapons.
1 for Kansas, 0 for the bad guys.

He should have shot them and saved tax payers money.
My CHL doesn’t make me an improptu cop. I can stop an attacker if my life is in imminent peril or if a loved ones life is in imminent peril. I am criminally liable if I use a gun against someone running away from me with some of my personal property.
I understand this anecdote does not infer any sort of legal advice however.
Unfortunately , in New York we have a governor who puts his lust for control over the rights of the people to defend themselves. I wish I could take a copy of this article and rub his nose in it.

In Kansas, the same state that one time gov. Kathleen Sabilias said she “would veto”, any concealed weapons bill passed by state congress while she was governor. I’m glad that our Campaigner & Cheat thought fit to put that ilk in charge of the health care for everyone in the United States. She proved not worthy of that title either. “Yay” for Kansas, sanity can be regained.
He did not stop the crime and save the day ( your sounding like mainstream media).
They dropped two guns, made their getaway, and we’re caught later on.
If you don’t think his action made any difference then your thinking is also backwards.
