Hey everyone, True Pearce here with GunsAmerica’s Hunt365! Today, I’m excited to bring you along on a unique hunting adventure. Zach, Dylan, and I are out here in beautiful Idaho, targeting some invasive bird species: pigeons, Eurasian doves, and sparrows. But we’re not using the traditional shotguns for this hunt. Instead, we’re equipped with precision airguns, and I can’t wait to show you how effective and fun they can be.
Joining us is Dylan, an expert outfitter in bird hunting. This is our first time meeting Dylan, and he’s brought us to an excellent location for bird hunting. We’re about to dive into a day of exciting airgun action, demonstrating the incredible accuracy and power these airguns offer. Trust me, you’ll be amazed at what these airguns can do.
Let’s kick things off by going through our setups. Zach is using an FX Wildcat in .22 caliber with a moderator and a Hawk scope, all mounted on a Two Vets tripod. He’s comfortable taking birds out at distances up to 100 yards, depending on the wind.
Dylan is wielding an FX Impact M3, also in .22 caliber, with an Element Nexus scope. His setup is capable of shooting 25-grain pellets at around 970 feet per second, providing impressive precision even at long ranges.
I’m also using an FX Impact M3, and my setup includes a Burris Eliminator 6 scope with a built-in laser rangefinder. This scope is fantastic for calculating holdovers, making those longer shots much more manageable. I’m shooting RMR hybrid slugs today, and I’ve dialed everything in to ensure maximum accuracy. I’m using my trusty RRS TFCT 33 Tripod with Anvil head.
Throughout the day, we’ll be hunting around buildings and livestock, areas where using traditional firearms might not be safe. Airguns are perfect for this type of environment, offering both precision and safety.
We had a fantastic day, taking down numerous pigeons, Eurasian doves, and sparrows. It was a blast, and we even managed to lure more birds using decoys. If you’re interested in airgun hunting or just want to see some incredible shots, stick around. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s get started!
