The Top 5 Turkey Guns for Under $500

The Top 5 Turkey Guns for Under $500

Turkey season is right around the corner. Although you don’t have to have a shotgun that is dedicated to turkey hunting there are a few options that will help. Turkeys have great eyesight, they see a lot better than we can. Cammo for the hunter is a must for hunting turkeys. I don’t think it is a must for your shotgun, but it can’t hurt. At the very least you want one that is not going to shine and sparkle in the sun like vampires in tween movies. I prefer an optic or rifle sights on a turkey shotgun. These guns with the proper chokes are capable of taking a turkey out to 40 yards or a bit more. The head on a turkey is small and the bead found on typical shotguns really doesn’t cut it. We want a bit more precision here.

Kel-Tec SU16CA–The Ideal Compliant Pack Gun

The first thing many notice about the Kel-Tec SU16 is the abundance of polymer. This skinny little .223 doesn’t weigh very much. So how does a lightweight, polymer chassis rifle stand up to honest use? Check out our review.

NSSF Action Alert! 'Contact ATF: Oppose 5.56 M855 Ball Ammunition Ban '

NSSF Action Alert! ‘Contact ATF: Oppose 5.56 M855 Ball Ammunition Ban ‘

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has announced it is seeking to ban commonplace 5.56 M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” ATF is seeking public comment on the proposal, so all industry employees, target shooters and gun owners should contact ATF to oppose this unnecessary ban, which is truly a solution in search of a problem and that raises serious questions about executive agency attitude and overreach. Stopped cold on Capitol Hill, this action appears to be the Obama administration’s attempt to pursue gun control by other means.

In Defense of the Beretta M9

In Defense of the Beretta M9

After 30 years of dedicated service, I would expect there to be more ardent defenders of the Beretta M9. Yet the pernicious rumors refuse to die. So what’s the truth? Well, as Mark Twain once said, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.”

Kimber Solo DC--High-End 9mm Carry

Kimber Solo DC–High-End 9mm Carry

The Kimber Solo is a gun that stirs up some debate. When the pistol debuted, Kimber took some flak because the Solo wouldn’t work reliably with all types of 9mm ammunition. Those of us who demand reliabilty from our carry guns approached the Solo skeptically. And that’s how I began this. So how do the new Solos stand up? Read our review.

Fans of bullpup rifles anxiously awaited the arrival of the IWI Tavor. And now the company is making a version that is almost identical to the rifle issued to the Israel Defense Forces. How does the Tavor IDF16 one stand up to the competition? Read our review.

OK, so this one was temporarily souped up. No worries, there's a factory configuration photo here too.

CMMG’s Mk4 300 Blackout AR Pistol

I think the 300 AAC Blackout caliber was really made for short barrels. Don’t get me wrong, I have a 300 Blackout AR-type rifle with a 16-inch barrel and love it. I just think the flexibility of the caliber really shines in short and compact configurations. And the CMMG MK4 Pistol is a solid option.

308 Pump ARs Are 49 State Legal + New AK Rails – Troy Industries – SHOT Show 2015

The Troy PAR, or Sporting Rifle, is an odd gun. The pump action, AR inspired rifle has some exquisite engineering, and lives up to Troy’s reputation for quality and accuracy. And now they’re releasing the gun in other calibers. And if that isn’t up your alley, the little PDW just might be.
