An Atlanta Georgia woman who was charged with shooting her four-year-old son waived her right to court Wednesday morning.
Patricia Todd allegedly shot her child in the torso while the two were in their University Avenue apartment complex.
Responding paramedics found the boy in one of the bedrooms, a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Todd was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and cruelty to children.
Neighbors were shocked to learn of the tragic event, though none claimed to have heard the gunshot.
“It’s shocking because stuff doesn’t go on in this neighborhood like this,” said neighbor Belinda Weems.
“He was a sweet little boy, just as sweet as he could be,” said neighbor Helen Gary.
There’s been no indication as of yet as to how the mother obtained the firearm, or if she has any history of mental illness.
