Mossberg is updating their polymer-framed, striker-fired compact MC2c chambered for 9mm Luger with four new versions, all Optics-Ready models for use with mini red dot sights. The MC2c blurs the line between compact and sub-compact with a slender design and above-average capacity.

Unlike the original pistols, the MC2c has a 3.9-inch barrel and uses flush-fitting 14-round magazines and can be used with slightly extended 16-round mags, for 14+1 or 16+1 rounds of 9mm.

The four models include two base versions, one shipping with standard magazines, another with 10-round mags to comply with regional capacity limits, a manual safety model and a premium version that ships with Truglo Tritium Pro day and night sights. The manual safety version uses a crossbolt lug behind the trigger.

All of the Optics-Ready pistols will direct-mount any mini red dot optics with the Shield RMS footprint. The MC2c Optics-Ready handguns otherwise retain all of the features that have made the series a success, including the Mossberg Safe Takedown System, or STS.

The Safe Takedown System allows users to fully remove the striker assembly for cleaning and maintenance, negating the need to pull the trigger during takedown.

Construction is the same, with a glass-reinforced polymer grip, with ergonomic traction pads along the palmswell and frontstrap. The oversized trigger guard is noticeably undercut, and combined with a long beavertail along the slide, provides a high-up shooting position.

The Optics-Ready models all use the same flat-faced trigger with a passive blade-style trigger safety, which has a factory-rated trigger pull of just 5.5 pounds.

Also, the frame has a natural 18-degree grip angle and a reversible magazine release. It does use a standard rail for lights and other pistol accessories.

The slide and barrel are all stainless steel with a black DLC diamondlike coating for durability and corrosion resistance. In addition to the optics cut, the slide features forward and rear serrations for advanced slide manipulation techniques.

Other specifications include a 3.9-inch barrel, an overall length of just over 7 inches long, a height at just under 5 inches with flush magazines and a width of just 1.1 inches at the widest. The MC2c weighs 21 ounces unloaded.

The MC2c Optics-Ready line of pistols is small enough for concealed carry but offers the same capacity and capability as many standard-size service pistols on the market today. Now with the ability to accommodate red dot sights from the factory, the MC2c offers an excellent value for a do-all style handgun.

The MSRP for the MC2c Optics-Ready pistols is $556 for the base models, including the manual safety pistol, and $662 for the version with premium night sights. For more information, visit Mossberg today.
