Mossberg announced Wednesday that it will be terminating its relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary Field & Stream.

Mossberg Joins Springfield, Cuts Dick's Off

Hey Dick’s! What goes around comes around! (Photo: Mossberg/Facebook)

“It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control.” said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons, in a press release.

“Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions,” continued Iver.

The Connecticut-based manufacturer said that it will stop accepting orders “effectively immediately” and that it is in the process of “evaluating current contractual agreements.”

Springfield Armory was the first gun company to officially sever ties with Dick’s.  They made the announcement last week, citing similar reasons.  Here’s to more manufacturers following in their footsteps!  Let’s put Dick’s outta business!

Mossberg is urging its customer base to purchase products from pro-2A firearm retailers.  We can think of no better place to look than right here on GunsAmerica.

    ‘…..cuts Dick’s off’? Sounds painful.😂😂😂

  • Alan Beal March 15, 2020, 8:05 am

I’ve been done with the Dicks franchise for a while, first with their catering to gun grabbers and secondly they push a lot of Nike products…I refuse to support any business that funds Colin Kaepernick and the like…..

  • Dave April 5, 2019, 2:28 pm

I get daily emails from Dicks, I trash them without looking at them. They should be
supporting our rights to own and buy guns, such a disappointment. I no longer shop
    at Dick’s

  • Ro Gal May 19, 2018, 10:20 pm

I applaud both SA and Mossberg. What I’ve done is cease buying products at Dicks and use Amazon, Walmart and Big 5 as easy alternatives. Now what I’ll do is buy SA products, As I already am a Mossberg customer. I hope Dicks takes it in the shorts!

  • Soothe Sayer May 17, 2018, 10:12 pm

What a bunch of Dick Bags…….

  • Dick May 15, 2018, 5:55 pm

Hum….What is wrong with being a dick?

  • Garrett P May 15, 2018, 12:26 pm

    “Castrates”, maybe?

  • Sepp W. May 14, 2018, 5:21 pm

You reap what you sow. I wonder how Dicks business model is working for increasing shareholder wealth? Anyway, as I said before, anyone shopping at Dicks knows they have a lousy firearm selection, can’t keep their inventory current, and cater to outdoor and fitness poseurs looking for the latest fashion trends from North Face and Under Armor.

Might still be an okay spot for anglers.

  • Hondo May 13, 2018, 10:40 am

Time will tell if this was a fatal business decision by the Dick-less wonders in management , I honestly hope it was and they go down in flames.

  • Greg Blesch May 13, 2018, 3:56 am

A few SJW told Dick’s to step into a cold shower…. and they did .Now all their outlets will be “shooting” blanks.Maybe Dicks should ” “drain the swamp” in their boardroom fast.If you don’t do that, you’re gonna find that when it comes to shopping at Dick’s ,Americans have a “headache” !!

  • Hey May 12, 2018, 1:46 pm

Right letters to the NRA asking them to list the manufacturers that are removing business from Dicks and the one that don’t and to ask/pressure other manufacturers to leave Dicks. Also right letters to the manufacturers. Support the second amendment not with just money but words.

  • Ed Nugent May 11, 2018, 8:40 pm

Dick-less has been hanging by a thread for sometime now. George Soros has basically helped put them out of business..
A long time ago, Abercrombie & Fitch used to be known as OUTFITTERS. They helped equip SAFARIs !! Sold top brand rifles, shotguns, etc. Now ?? They also sell yoga ‘togs’ and sweatsuits ( professional grade ).

  • gar May 11, 2018, 5:18 pm

    go get’m mossburg…

    • LJ May 12, 2018, 11:40 am

      Uh – you mean ‘Mossberg’?

  • hiplnsdrftr May 11, 2018, 4:24 pm

While you’re all at it, voting with your wallets, make sure to buy USA made products. Cause I’ll sure as hell bet you most if not all the shoes, gear, camping supplies, parkas etc. at Shoe Carnival, the Walmart, Costco, Dick’s you name it is made in China and elsewhere.

A few weeks ago I wandered around Cabellas in Tacoma for an hour trying to find a rain parka made in the USA. Was unsuccessful, so I settled for avoiding China at least and got the Vietnam made one.

Then again, a pair of Danner hunting boots made in the USA is over $300. A Filson hunting jacket made in USA is $450. A Schott motorcycle jacket made in USA is $800.

Maybe not so easy to “stick to your guns”… If you really care about the USA and the 2ndA stop buying made in China crap, save up your money, spend wisely and carefully on made in USA products.

  • Tommy G May 11, 2018, 3:07 pm

‘Dickless’ pretty well describes the situation with Dick’s Sporting Goods and parent company Field & Stream (eliminate them from every barber shop as well). We applaud the actions taken by Springfield, Hornady, Mossberg & other patriots who oppose the forces of evil that seek to suppress our American God-given Freedom. These patriotic companies will get more of our business and those who are sitting on their hands during this fight will be eliminated from our list. Done.

We encourage other companies that support Americans and the 2A to step up or step off. We’re paying attention. We are taking notes. The leftist communists don’t have a monopoly on boycotts. We can and are answering with our own actions.
We’re redirecting our dollars based on demonstrable actions that either support or fail to support Freedom. Put up or shut up. Lead, follow or get out of the way. Commit, Improvise, Adapt and Overcome or be plowed under.

    Godspeed to “The Deplorables”,

    T

  • Thomas Gaffey May 11, 2018, 2:09 pm

Something the left never understands is that the 1st A protects you from prosecution but not from repercussions, if you need to force me to buy from dicks (pun intended) to protect their 1st A rights then you are violating my rights under 1st, 2nd and probably the 4th, just ask the Dixie Chicks. Besides, I don’t shop there because at dicks, customer service is an oxymoron, I shopped there for a rifle twice and got nowhere.

  • David Welsh May 11, 2018, 1:30 pm

I walk right past Dickless on my way through a local mall. That place must be run by the Starbucks Co.

  • M. Atkinson May 11, 2018, 1:15 pm

Bye, bye Dick’s sporting goods, you’ve done pissed us off now and you will pay for It!

  • Randy May 11, 2018, 1:06 pm

If possible support the mom & pop gun stores. Yes they are a bit higher on pricing because they don’t buy in bulk like the big chain stores. Support them and support each other and we are a force to be reckoned with.

  • Mott D May 11, 2018, 12:54 pm

Hell yeah! get them all to do it!

  • Paul May 11, 2018, 12:24 pm

I’ve never bought a firearm at Dick’s, but I use to buy ammo, fishing tackle and shoes there. No more. They can just stick to golf (a dying sport) and yoga pants. All their clothes are over priced anyway. My wife wanted to go there to look for shoes….I took her to Shoe Carnival. Lots of places to buy shoes. Here in WVa is a bad place to come out against law abiding gun owners. This is an “outdoor” state. Hunting, fishing, hiking and camping are major activities in this area. Plus they just opened a new F&S store close by …never been there …won’t be going. Cabela’s is right down the street.

  • Dennis M May 11, 2018, 12:24 pm

Everyone here is exercising their right of Freedom Of Speech guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. Those people that want to destroy the 2nd Amendment must realize that the 1st Amendment is guaranteed by the 2nd.

  • Kevin Schmersal May 11, 2018, 11:49 am

Now American Patriots need to step up and support companies like Mossberg and Springfield and shun the other gun manufacturers who continue to do business with Dicks, clearly placing profit over principle.

  • Rip Lupo May 11, 2018, 11:37 am

If you shop at Field and Steam you support Dick’s

  • P Constantino May 11, 2018, 11:32 am

Bought a Mossberg in November and Dicks had the best price but bought it at Basspro instead. But bought a ton of ammo on sale at Dicks. Won’t be anymore if that’s your stance. Guess they won’t be selling many gun safes either. Ha ha

  • Mike Hernandez May 11, 2018, 11:17 am

My son bought a shot gun at Dicks about a year ago 3months later the store manager called him and told him to come back in to fill out paperwork again because they couldn’t find it and it was a illegal purchase I called them back and told them that wasn’t going to happen and I would call the DOJ well I guess they found it I also called corporate office and let them know (Visalia California)

  • RGE May 11, 2018, 11:02 am

I can buy my hiking shoes anywhere. I can buy camping and survival gear anywhere. I can buy a kayak anywhere. And so I will, anywhere BUT Dick’s.

  • Hawk00 May 11, 2018, 10:55 am

ALL and I mean ALL gun companies should ” CUT OFF DICK’S ” and refuse to do any business with this company !

  • CountryBoy May 11, 2018, 9:44 am

I LOVE the headline to this story “Mossberg Joins Springfield, Cuts Dick’s Off” …. my wife and I couldn’t stop laughing….

  • Danny Parry May 11, 2018, 8:52 am

So sorry to hear that you guys cut off your dicks…

  • REX DICKERSON May 11, 2018, 8:42 am

Amen! I would relish seeing Dick’s close its doors.

I reside in the Peoples Republic of Illinois and have not shopped at Dick’s for five years or so. Illinois requires a FOID card to purchase a gun or ammunition. I was purchasing some shot shells at Dick’s when the cashier began entering my FOID card number into a database. I asked her what the heck she was doing and she replied that Dick’s just wants to record the number at purchase but they aren’t saving it in a database. I told her absolutely no! She said she couldn’t sell me ammo without recording the number. I walked and have never shopped there since. Good luck with soccer balls and gym shoes.

  • Blasted Cap May 11, 2018, 8:33 am

Guess who’s going out buying a Mossberg today.
    This guy.
Might be a Dick and stop in to see if they have any and then tell them I’m going down the street to buy one from the competition.

  • Bob Roberts May 11, 2018, 7:32 am

I have never bought a gun there. Now I never will. I have bought a lot of fishing gear and other stuff there. I will not shop there any more even if something is on sale and is cheaper than anywhere else.

  • John May 11, 2018, 6:47 am

Too bad libtards do not understand economics 101. You would think a CEO of a business would realize the cost to get a customer is greater than to maintain one. Well, Dicks and Academy just lost a customer and I will shop at other stores. Always liked my local stores better anyway. I applaud the manufacturers and they will benefit from their distribution decision.

    • Jake May 11, 2018, 8:50 am

Maybe I’m late to the party, but what did Academy do?

      • Michael Gothard August 31, 2018, 11:29 am

A few months back a shoplifter tried to walk out with a pistol. The mgr (or assistant mgr) stopped him and held him for police. Another criminal trying to add to his firearm collection. How did Academy reward this individual? They fired him. He stopped another gun from the street and was told it was wrong to confront the criminal and should have let him go. Along with Dick’s, Academy is another place to bypass for purchases.

  • Joe May 11, 2018, 6:21 am

That new magazine fed Mossberg shotgun is looking better all the time. but I wont be shopping at DICKLESS…

  • Frank caneja May 11, 2018, 5:23 am

They have a right to freedom of expression just like everyone else, and they can choose to sell whatever firearms they choose. They cannot however discriminate against age like they said they will by raising age limit. Age is a protected class in this country. The supreme Court has ruled in the past that you can buy a rifle at age if 18.

  • Art The Fart May 11, 2018, 5:14 am

I have two Mossberg shotguns, and proud of it!

  • Art The Fart May 11, 2018, 5:11 am

I will never spend another dime in a Dick’s Sporting Goods store, and that is a promise!

  • Mike ganger May 11, 2018, 4:48 am

I am a supporter of the second amendment and I will not set foot in Dicks anymore for anything and I will tell all my friends to do so also.

  • Hal May 10, 2018, 6:30 pm

Hopefully dicks will go out of business, bought by a company that won’t pick and choose rights for all, business need to stay the hell out of politics, every busy that has pick a side of politics has gone out of business, or will soon go out

  • Steven May 10, 2018, 3:44 pm

The headline is pure gold lol

  • Raks May 10, 2018, 1:57 pm

    I like that title

  • John Huggins May 10, 2018, 11:19 am

So what? I find it funny that people are crapping on Dicks in support of the second amendment while ignoring that Dicks has the right to express their views as made clear in the first amendment.

    • bearman May 10, 2018, 12:32 pm

This is war it is never fun but when people let the left run over the nation we will not have a free nation to live in. War takes sacrifices.

    • Solo May 10, 2018, 1:39 pm

They absolutely do, and we have the right to spend our money wherever we choose. Its called free enterprise.

      • bearman May 10, 2018, 4:12 pm

You sure can, however you will not be buying a Mossburg shotgun at Dicks, and they will not be making a profit on that gun. I like the idea that the small gun owner and gun ranges will be getting the business anyhow. Smaller gun dealers know more about their products and many can also instruct in the proper use of the firearm. Places like Dicks usually have some dick as a salesman that know almost nothing about what they are selling.

    • Jaque May 10, 2018, 4:03 pm

And so do citizens critical of Dicks move against gun rights

    • David Wonder May 10, 2018, 4:51 pm

Companies have a right to decide which vendors to supply just like I have, to not shop Dick’s. You have a right to an opinion but with that opinion comes the acceptance of any reaction. If you offend me don’t expect we are going bowling next week. There’s no law that says we must be buddies or shop where we don’t like the service or the opinion of that business.

    • tdhammett May 11, 2018, 4:37 am

It’s true, they enjoy free speech rights under the First Amendment. That means the government can’t go out and start arresting company executives in retribution for unwelcome speech. No more, no less. Another corporate entity is perfectly free to react to it – freedom of speech does not mean freedom from repercussions.

And I’m glad that there are any – if Dick’s have a problem with the Second Amendment, then they probably have no interest in making money with it anyway, right?

    • Bill May 11, 2018, 8:49 am

      I like it too! Dicks=dicks

    • Hondo May 13, 2018, 10:27 am

We have that same right John, what don’t you get ?

Dick’s would be better off staying out of politics.

    • Geovany June 8, 2018, 12:41 pm

You are right they have the right to express their opinion; they also have the right and responsibility to assume the consequences of pissing off their customers and the general public. Hope they go out of business so those buildings can be used by decent businesses.

  • salz118 May 10, 2018, 10:06 am

The problem here is with Dick’s upper management who decided to hire the lobbyists.
Wishing that Dick’s goes out of business only hurts the 37,200 workers who had no say in the decision.

    • David Wonder May 10, 2018, 5:08 pm

Well as to the employees too bad. You never hear anyone crying foul when some jackass civil servant shuts down a baker, causes a business to go under, or destroys a rancher whose family has been on the land for 6 generations. Everyone has a right to shop where they want as I see it I will still buy that Mossberg just not at Dicks, I will chose a business that supports my values and opinion. When a business hires a donkey they take the heat for his stupidity, so be careful who you hire

    • Patriot May 11, 2018, 7:20 am

too bad so sad, find a better place to work, once Dickless is out of buisness, somebody else will pick up that buisness,so those jobs will come back.

    • chris May 11, 2018, 8:57 am

They will have new, more respectable jobs at the retailers who support the 2nd Amendment and will now have to increase their staff to keep up with the new demand for Sporting Rifles and ammo and accessories, not to mention other sporting enthusiast supplies. Poor choice Dicks. I am sure the other will appreciate the business.

    • Roy May 11, 2018, 11:27 am

Yes it is sad for the workers and my heart goes out to them. That said, the company has chosen to take sides in a heated debate that frankly as a retailer selling sporting equipment they should have stayed out of. K-mart didn’t get it when they allowed pornography to be sold in theirs stores and told the conservative community to feel free and take their business elsewhere. Which they did and the coast was telling – no more kmart. We have no choice as gun owners and 2nd amendment supporters but to take a stand on what we believe as well. We cannot let the noisy minority continue to run the world with their intolerant viewpoints (which I have always found interesting from a group that preaches tolerance).

    • Geovany June 8, 2018, 12:43 pm

Don’t worry they’ll be picked up by the competition as they take over what was once dicks sales.

  • Barry Ellis May 10, 2018, 9:51 am

These companies who dont want to offer discounts to the members of the NRA your cutting off the arm that feeds you.

The people who are destroying the inattament objects of those companies your giving them the fuel to show that firearm owners are crazies. Dont destroy the object, “STOP” buying their products….

I am as n FFL holder, I WILL NOT support the 21yrs of age for all firearms I will sell long rifles to those who are 18yrs of age and who qualify thru the background checks.

    Barry

    • chris May 11, 2018, 8:59 am

I trust businesses that deliberately destroy their guns do not get a tax write-off for their efforts?

      • Not sure May 11, 2018, 10:20 am

I’m not so sure that they won’t get to write it off as an expense used for advertising.

  • God Bless Mossberg May 10, 2018, 9:30 am

Good Job Gun Manufacturers. Two can play this game. Gun Manufacturers cutting off Dicks. That store was for the dickless anyways.

  • Pierre Coulombe May 10, 2018, 6:12 am

    Well said.

  • Keith Crouch May 9, 2018, 10:31 pm

    Support the 2nd amendment.
Let’s not let history repeat itself in the United States following the path of Germany

    • Keith Crouch May 9, 2018, 10:36 pm

      Support the 2nd amendment.
Don’t let the United States follow the path that Hitler took Germany before and during WW ll.
Support the NRA and vote for candidates that support the right to bear arms.

  • Carlos May 9, 2018, 10:12 pm

That settles it, buying a Mossberg Shot gun again. My last one was a Mossberg Regal Model, with replaceable cylinders.
It was used for Duck hunting. Early 80s.
    Time to shop

    Hold strong, Stay vigilant .

  • Jason Rosenbrock May 9, 2018, 10:03 pm

I hope all gun and accessory manufacturers follow suit and stop doing business with Dicks. Are they too stupid to realize how much business they’re giving up because there’s some anti gun whack jobs out there that think individuals have no 2A rights. I personally will never do business with Dicks again, Franks, Northwoods, Duncans, AJ’s. Cabelas and Jays will be getting it.

  • James May 9, 2018, 8:31 pm

    Thats a most unfortunate headline.

    • chris May 11, 2018, 9:09 am

      As Gunny would say “Snowflake.”

  • Betty Moore May 9, 2018, 7:56 pm

Can’t these ignorant people understand that the bad people are gonna get guns,we have to have protection from them.I wonder how they would handle it if their homes was invaded and their family was being attacked!!!My dad is not with us anymore we lost him last November,my sister has his Mossberg.

  • Kevin Kelly May 9, 2018, 6:24 pm

Good! I have my Mossberg 300 Home Defender ready to exercise my right to defend my home.

  • David May 9, 2018, 6:05 pm

Whoever made this stupid decision needs to be fired post haste. Dicks will be out of business before the end of the year IMO.
