Missouri Law Professor Sues to Overturn University’s ‘Gun-Free Zone’ Policy

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Authors, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

University of Missouri law professor Royce de R. Barondes is suing to overturn the school’s policy that effectively creates a gun-free zone.

Under the university’s policy, possessing a firearm is prohibited except regularly approved programs or by “university agents or employees in the line of duty.”

Barondes lawsuit seeks to take advantage of new language added to the state Constitution that says the right to keep and bear arms is unalienable and subject to strict scrutiny.

“I think it was a well-intentioned rule meant for the safety of individuals on campus. The problem is that the bad guys don’t care about the rules,” Barondes’ lawyer, Jennifer Bukowsky told KOMU in an interview.

“There has been a number of incidents in Columbia where dangerous things have happened and the university or the curators shouldn’t be making a decision for individuals on how they chose to defend themselves,” Bukowsky added.

Barondes is a concealed carry permit holder who has also taught courses on gun laws.

The university has acknowledged the lawsuit, but declined to comment on it at this point.

Simple fix: all the university has to do is say CCW permit holders have to check in w/ the campus po-po every time they come to campus armed. That gives the campus po-po the opportunity to integrate them into any active-shooter response as they see fit.

You Go BOYYYYY!!!!!! I am sick of these gun-free….I mean, target rich environments. If someone is not allowed to defend themselves at a business or school, then that business or school needs to be held liable if anything happens to people while on said property. If they can’t defend people properly, then people need to be allowed to defend themselves. This whole giving your rights up because other sheeple do is ludacris! Just because you may be an idiot doesn’t mean I have to be.
