Magpul just announced the availability of their much-anticipated MP BSL, a stabilizing brace for large-format Heckler & Koch-pattern pistols. The MP BSL is an extending blade-style stabilizing brace for HK94- and MP5-based designs.

The MP BSL is Magpul’s third brace design, following their BTR and BSL braces for pistols using AR-compatible buffer tubes. Like their AR braces, the MP BSL mimics the look of an HK94 or MP5 collapsible stock, giving it that aesthetic edge over other braces with more utilitarian appearances.

“Constructed of our proprietary polymer and featuring a tool-less adjustment system that makes it easier to deploy and collapse the brace, the MP BSL is extremely durable with enhanced ergonomics,” said Magpul in the launch. “The integrated quick detach sling attachment, combined with ample surface area for lateral forearm contact, dramatically increases stability while firing. An M-LOK slot is included on the MP BSL for added sling mounting options.”

By combining the brace with a sling it makes it easy to get multiple points of contact making it much easier to shoot. Even without a sling, braces typically improve the balance and feel of these big pistols for all shooting styles.

The brace is compatible with standard HK94 and MP5 receiver patterns, though not K-length firearms or HK91s nor G3s. At full extension the brace is 10.5 inches long, 6.5 inches tall and 2.3 inches wide.

The MP BSL can easily be adjusted with one hand. All in all, it’s a good-looking and well-thought-out design that a lot of Heckler & Koch owners have been waiting all year long for.

The suggested retail price for these is $159, which, while it’s higher than AR-style stabilizing braces, is a more complex design with its polymer and metal construction. And though Magpul products typically retail for less than their list prices online and in stores, right now for hot items like braces, prices can stick pretty close to MSRP.

When Magpul first introduced their BTR and BSL braces they flew off shelves in no time, and chances are the MP BSL won’t be any different. If you have a compatible HK-pattern firearm that you’re thinking about equipping with a brace, get one of these while they’re in stock.

The MP BSL is the latest in a growing selection of Magpul parts and accessories for the HK94 and MP5. They’ve also recently released MOE SL-pattern grips and forends for these guns, as well as improved safety selectors and 50-round drum magazines.

That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. Why in the world would anyone spend $160 so they could shoot like that?

Need to come up with one to fit larger frames like the .308 and 223 pistols!

Looks clumsy…..just ditch the brace and attach a bungee slink directly to the receiver
