Magpul has been reaching into every corner of the firearms industry, so the release of a bipod probably shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. What is a surprise, it looks like it might be pretty good for the price.
I don’t generally think of polymer and bipod as a good idea. In fact, I had to outright ban the original fore-grip/ bipod plastic combo from my range in the Army. But Magpul seems to have gone a different direction. The look is traditional, meaning it is wide enough to actually be useful. The legs have a polymer outer leg for weight savings and an aluminum inner leg for strength. The feet are removable, and compatible with other brands of feet. Up front, a knurled knob controls leg tension and is big enough to use as a barrier stop.
Is polymer tough enough to use on a bipod? I don’t know. But Magpul doesn’t have a reputation for releasing things that break, so it’s a pretty safe bet it will last. It used to be common knowledge you had to use wood for a rifle stock too. Would this be appropriate on a 338 Lapua? Probably not. But for your AR, especially when every ounce counts, this is going to be a winner. It is remarkably light, and feature packed for the price tag of $109.95.

Looks pretty. Come on Clay, give it the Marine Sniper test and review.
Looking at the “Black” version picture….it appears to be a picatinny or rail attachment option ??
It’s a QD mount to go on a pic rail. You have to buy that separately.
It also looks like it has a direct-attach MLok base to go directly on the rail bottom? I’d prefer a design that instead grips the rail’s sides for even better stability–I can dream, right?
VLTOR bipod. each leg attaches individually to a side rail (3 & 9 o’clock)
What QD mount and feet are you using there?
