Overview
Magneto Speed isn’t exactly the new kid on the block, but they aren’t as well know as I’d imagine they’d be because they make a really unique product, a bayonet-style chronograph!
That’s right, a chronograph that mounts right below your muzzle, like a bayonet, and measures bullet velocity via electromagnetic sensors.

Impression
Much smaller than a traditional chronograph, and infinitely easier to pack to the range, this is a pretty fantastic product. I have actually used one of these before, and I like it a lot. It is accurate enough that I once shot a long-range match using just the muzzle velocity from this device, and had no problems.
Fast and easy, and comparable in price to a traditional chronograph, this thing rocks for rifles!

Price and Availability
You can get the Magneto Speed V3 for $399 on the website right now. There is also a budget-friendly version that doesn’t have all the bells and whistles for $189.
But wait, there’s more!
The M-Series Grips.
New this year from Magneto Speed is their M-Series Grips. Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of AR pistol grip inserts, but the M-Series was built with storage in mind.
The grip design is ergonomic and functional. It comes with one of four inserts. First up is a dry box, perfect for storing matches, gun oil, or any other small survival item. An ideal asset when traveling into the backcountry or uncharted territory.
Next is the torch variant, a flashlight that can also magnetically attach to a rail cover plate. This wasn’t designed for door kicking, but it will stay put during recoil and is lighting fast to attach. Great emergency light.

Following up the flashlight is the adjustable monopod for those days when you forget to bring your sand bag or ransom rest to the range.
And last, my favorite, a tiny magazine capable of holding three rounds. If you are down to three bullets, you are having a bad day, but three beats the shit out of zero.
Pricing varies on each insert, from $11 for the magazine to $80 for the monopod. The M-Series Grips aren’t yet listed on the website but everything should be up by June.

Not only great at public ranges, but there is no worrying about lighting in indoor or outdoor in the wild. Easy to install and carry or pack the hard case in a backpack. It has been way more dependable and accurate compared to the optical chronos. I use it “in the wild” and love it.
I see the value, at a public range, setting up a chrony is a PITA!
