Houston, TX.May 9, 2022To the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association:

There really is little need to introduce myself since I serve on the NRA Board from 2016-2021. It was a true honor to be selected by the membership of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization by way of petition and then reelection. My resignation from the board was due to what I witnessed as a lack of resolve to reform the organization in the face of quite serious, and substantiated, allegations of financial impropriety. As a career military officer, we are taught servant leadership and the Commander is the least important entity in any unit. It is the Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine who is most important, vital, and in the case of the NRA, the NRA members are the reason the organization exists!

I have answered the call to run for Executive Vice President of the NRA for only one reason; to serve the members and restore the trust and confidence of the membership in the organization. I am not running against anyone, which is an absurd supposition. I am running for the preservation of the NRA and the restoration of its honor, integrity, and character. My objective is simple, a return to our core competencies of marksmanship training and programs along with protection of our Second Amendment rights. During my time on the NRA board, several Board of Directors requested my participation to assist in raising funds locally via Friends of the NRA dinners and other events; and I did. I was honored to stand on the stage in Atlanta Georgia, my hometown, and express the intricate relationship of the NRA to the civil rights movement. It was also an esteemed honor to recite the story of another Soldier, Otis McDonald, and present his Family the Roy Innis Leadership Award before the gathered members of the NRA in Indianapolis.

America is facing an extremist agenda and a formidable domestic threat (not from a foreign enemy) but rather the progressive socialist/Marxist/left wing groups that are intent on undermining the United States. There is one organization that can stand as a bulwark against this ideological enemy of individual liberty, freedom, and rights…that is the National Rifle Association! My oath to the Constitution of the United States of America is to support and defend it against all enemies, foreign, and domestic. I have always honored my oath and will continue as the EVP of the NRA. I am humbly asking for your vote as the next Executive Vice President of the NRA. We can rebuild the confidence of the members who have faithfully supported the NRA for over 150 years.

Steadfast and Loyal.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen B. West (US Army, Retired) Former Member, 112th US Congress
Former Chairman, Republican Party of Texas
NRA Board Member, 2016-2021
NRA Patriot Life (Benefactor) Member

I have been a Life Member of the NRA for many years, and donated to them many times. However, that is over. I cannot support an organization which allows its leadership to squander its money for personal gain. This is a proven fact in a court of law.
The NRA is not one person or a Board of Directors. The NRA is its MEMBERSHIP, and the sooner we understand that, the better. Unless and until the membership acts, and the Board of Directors cleans house, the entire organization is at risk, legally and finacially.

  • Frank May 21, 2022, 2:33 am

Godspeed, Lieutenant Colonel Allen B. West. You have my vote as a life member.

    • SJ Bryant May 29, 2022, 1:56 am

Colonel West will bring healing and see strength return to the NRA. The day of the fat cat crony club is over- or else the days of the NRA being taken seriously will certainly be over. I will immediately restore my full membership once Col. West is confirmed as VP. Until then, my money stays home or goes to more worthy organizations. Thousands of us have finally caught on To LaPierre & friends extravagant foolishness. Their little social club has weakened the NRA at the worst possible time, so now it is time to return to serving the membership and country according to our charter. God bless Col West and any directors who vote against the status quo.

  • Steve Haynie May 20, 2022, 11:08 pm

I am a Benefactor member as well and I will support Col. West. It’s time for some new thinking in charge. The NRA, with all it’s flaws, is still the cornerstone for protecting our God given freedom.

  • Gregory Geiger May 20, 2022, 4:03 pm

Any constituency would be very well served to have LtCol West as their leader. No matter what position he seeks he will always have my vote!

  • james harris May 20, 2022, 3:36 pm

I let my membership expire because I couldn’t stand what i was hearing. Whatever the truth is, anyone one who truly cared about the organization and its causes, would have stepped aside sooner to let the healing process happen. Instead the NRA seems to fester.

I will rejoin if West takes over. It may even be time to pop for life membership, when things start looking up.

  • Duck Man May 20, 2022, 2:06 pm

I have voted for the board members over the years but how do we vote for Col. West to rid the NRA of LaPierre, I see no ballot

  • Troy Elmore May 20, 2022, 12:04 pm

I will support Col. West in his quest for Executive V.P.
I voted for him to be Gov of Texas. Sure sorry he lost.
I hope he wins this time!

  • Xdemonrat May 20, 2022, 11:48 am

I’m a Life Member that will not give another dollar to the NRA until the leadership changes. Wayne and his cronies have got to go.

  • Mike Zimmerman May 20, 2022, 11:39 am

I’m another long-term NRA member hoping for a change in leadership. In my opinion, if the current leadership had the best interest of the members at heart and wanted to support the NRA’s mission, they would resign or turn over leadership to new people rather than continuing to be a distraction and detriment to the mission.

  • Steve D. May 20, 2022, 11:36 am

Sadly the NRA has lost the respect of most of its members. I am a Life Benafactor level and all my energy goes to the FNRA which is what the NRA used to be. My vote is for Allen.

  • Lawrence Dennis May 20, 2022, 11:25 am

As a life member I feel that wlp and the others that were caught with there hands in the cookie jar along with the board members who support them need to resign for the good of the nra and I will not donate or vote for any of them until that happens

  • 1911 follower May 20, 2022, 11:25 am

So does the entire membership get a vote, or do just the La Pierre supporters ge a vote like the last time?

  • Brent Downen May 20, 2022, 11:17 am

    Outstanding!

  • Donald Harden May 20, 2022, 10:55 am

As a longtime Life and Patriot member, I have stopped donating any money to the NRA since they have been exposed. I will not vote for any current board members. The Board needs to go because they have allowed the corruption within NRA to continue. I have many friends who feel the same way. We need change now! Lapierre must go! And the board!

  • TODD CANIPE May 20, 2022, 10:46 am

I was a member of the NRA a few years, but now sadly I am not. If his leadership can restore the core values of the Organization, I will consider joining again. It was intolerable what the Leadership did to the NRA and was the only reason I discontinued my membership. Sir, I am a twenty-year Active Duty retired veteran and I want you to know that you have my support, however at present, the NRA does not. Please do your best to oust Wayne and his Cronies!!

  • William Hodge May 20, 2022, 10:15 am

As a benefactor member I support the NRA and it’s defense of 2A rights and the shooting sports. But it is time for LaPiere to resign and let the NRA repair itself. He has clearly begun to think the organization is his to do with as he sees fit. It’s not his, it belongs to the 5 million plus members and we need new leadership.

  • Susan S May 20, 2022, 10:08 am

I respect and support Col. Allen West due to his service record and his actions which validate his words & character. We cannot tolerate dishonesty, greed, or corruption in our ranks. I was very impressed with the urgency and humbleness of Col. West’s words and wish we had many more men (REAL men) like him in influential positions.

  • Risk Taker May 20, 2022, 10:08 am

I am a Life Member and a Veteran. I would be very proud to have a honest man Lt.Col West as our Executive Vice President. If he could get rid of some of the overpaid Executive staff, I might even contribute again!

  • Paul May 20, 2022, 10:07 am

As a life member of the NRA I am sad to say that I can no longer support them. The NRA has lost it’s way and new leadership is needed to get things straightened out. If new leaders are not installed the organization will die away.

  • John Loar, Jr. May 20, 2022, 9:42 am

I support Col. West 100%. Wayne LaPerri and his cronies must go. I miss Harlon Carter. I am a life member
but the NRA will not get any more of my money until big changes are made.

  • Max Simpson May 20, 2022, 9:24 am

I support Col. West and completely agree with his position regarding the NRA. I to am a life member – but sadly extremely disappointed in the apparent corruption in this once proud organization’s upper level management or lack there of. It is extremely important our membership rid this organization of the money wasting aristocracy presently in control of the NRA.

  • MeSeaHunt May 20, 2022, 7:34 am

I am in-favor of him taking the position as the org has been going downhill for years……

  • Guido May 20, 2022, 7:30 am

As far as I’m concerned the NRA is dead man walking ! Only Mr. West can save this corrupt once great organization ! Wayne LaPerri and his cronies need to go like yesterday.

    Life Member, Benefactor level.

    • John L. May 20, 2022, 10:28 pm

Not a life member, but was a member for 48 years which ended exactly one year ago. Also a member of GOA, FPC, SAF and ASRPA ( NRA state club). I’ll happily renew my membership if Lt. Col. West is leading the organization.

The past/current leadership of the NRA has helped the ANTI-GUNNERS in Our Government to INFRINGE upon the RIGHTS of American Citizens. This has to stop!!
There are over 12 different schemes the NRA has assisted or aided the government on infringements.
