On a recent episode of Fox News’ “Gutfeld!”, host Greg Gutfeld took aim at the FBI over a quiet yet significant revision to its 2022 violent crime statistics.

The issue was brought to light by John Lott’s investigative piece for Real Clear Investigations, titled “Stealth Edit: FBI Quietly Revises Violent Crime Stats.”

Initially, the FBI reported that violent crime had dropped by 2.1% in 2022, but as Lott uncovered, the real numbers showed a 4.5% increase.

In his typical comedic style, Gutfeld sarcastically compared the FBI’s revised data to “more fudged than Brian Stelter’s fingertips” and quipped about the drastic swing in the stats being bigger than “the one Joy Behar installed over her bed.”

Gutfeld expressed frustration over the revision, suggesting that the FBI was trying to manipulate public perception by downplaying the real rise in violent crime.

He pointed out that many Democrats, for months, had claimed violent crime was declining under President Biden’s administration.

Gutfeld humorously speculated that perhaps they had confused crime with Biden’s body temperature. He also jabbed at ABC’s David Muir, who had corrected former President Trump on crime stats during a debate, despite the numbers being wrong.

Gutfeld closed by touching on a broader point: the increasing distrust in the media, pointing to a recent Gallup poll showing that only 31% of Americans trust the media to be accurate.

He argued that the FBI’s quiet revision of such significant data feeds into this lack of trust, especially when the public is left in the dark on issues as important as violent crime.

The segment highlighted Lott’s investigation as a crucial reminder that transparency matters and that the public deserves the truth, not revisions made after the fact.

That’s the job I want. Where else can you be in charge of record keeping with an accuracy expectation of plus or minus 300%?

Fox news is no longer a reliable source for news. The data referenced here cherry picks an 18 month period where there was an increase. The total since 2020 still shows a decrease. Don’t trust the media on either side of the political spectrum.

I would expect this from the fbi. They are just another branch of the Democrat party. I suppose there are good people there but I haven’t heard about them lately. I can actually remember when they were the good guys and we would want to help them. That makes me really old.

The FBI was corrupt from its inception. Go read a few of the histories of the organization.
P.S. They originally did not even issue weapons to their agents.
