LAPD Advice to Public Following Rise in Violent Street Robberies: ‘Don’t resist– cooperate, comply, be a good witness’

in Authors, Current Events, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

Violent street robberies and follow-home robberies are on the rise in the City of Angels and the Los Angeles Police Department has some advice for the community it is sworn to protect and serve:

  • When in public, be cautious of displaying purses, jewelry, watches and other luxury items.
  • All suspicious activity should be recorded and reported to police. When possible, write down the descriptions of any suspicious person and/or vehicle.
  • If you think you’re being followed while driving, call 911 and try to drive to the closest police station.
  • Don’t resist — cooperate, comply and be a good witness.
  • Immediately dial 911. Write down what you can remember about the crime, including descriptions of the suspect(s) and their vehicle(s).
  • Don’t follow or chase the assailant(s) after a robbery.

Noticeably absent from that list is any mention to hardened or improve one’s self-defense posture. Probably because, by and large, city leaders do not recognize one’s natural right of self-defense nor one’s constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

While one may assume that most robbers are non-violent opportunists looking to make a quick score, some are most certainly not. Some are indeed violent individuals who are resolved to inflict physical harm on their victims.

The question is, of course, what happens when a victim runs into an assailant that wants more than just cash, jewelry, purses, and the like?

A rapist, a kidnapper, a killer, for example, — what happens when “don’t resist– cooperate and comply” doesn’t work on those types of hardened criminals?

LAPD doesn’t say.

Apparently, one must be resigned to being a victim to whatever extent that entails.

The situation is only exacerbated by the city’s kid-gloves approach to crime, as L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva observed.

“We have an emboldened criminal community that knows there are less [sic] consequences, less risk involved to engage in these violent crimes, and they’re encouraged by the district attorney,” Villanueva told KTLA5, referencing L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón, who apparently believes in a revolving door-style of justice.

Scary times for those living in Los Angeles. What advice would you give to everyday Angelenos?

“…city leaders do not recognize one’s natural right of self-defense nor one’s constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

That has been the status quo for over a century but it’s much worse now. At least prior to about the mid 80s crime wasn’t as rampant and even leftists had common sense. The gun wasn’t viewed as a sentient object as leftists in the msm relentlessly remind us.

“Apparently, one must be resigned to being a victim to whatever extent that entails.”

That’s the goal and L.A. officials have achieved it. It’s one of the reasons L.A. is an illegal sanctuary city. The more compliant, dumb people they can round up in the democRat plantation, the better. I live on the edge of L.A. County, near two shall issue counties (fantastic irony!). So far, so good but if I need to conceal carry, I will even if it means violating unlawful conceal carry mandates. The 2A doesn’t state that citizens need permits to bear arms. The best advice I would give to L.A. residents is to take gun classes and conceal carry. You run the risk of arrest and other consequences, but what’s more important and vital…bodily harm and\or death because you can’t effectively protect\defend yourself, or running the risk of criminal penalties while being able to defend oneself from death and bodily harm? Sadly, this is the only choice that the evil, communist L.A. officials have given us.

Have they thought about making ‘crimws’ illegal. There. All done.

  • MeeesterPaul November 16, 2021, 3:17 pm

LOL. They make it sound like they’re going to investigate and do something. Haha good one. At least they still have a sense of humor

The grave danger with the current Marxist/socialist Democratic Party is its strategy to stay in power forever by changing our institutions into a 1-party nation. The tactics include what the author listed here, plus doing an end around the Electoral College, eliminating the Senate filibuster, packing the Supreme Court, passing an election law that gives federal bureaucrats power over states’ rights to hold their own elections, and rushing as many illegal aliens as possible through an open border and into your community to negate your vote. It’s time for all Americans who love our Constitution’s individual rights and freedoms to speak up, rise up, and defend the USA.

I was in Vietnam 25 months as field combat corpsman (medic) from 65, 66 and 67. Three purple hearts. Got out in 2/68 and worked as a merc/body guard/trainer/contractor for the next 12 years. Came home in a wheel chair or stretcher four times during those 12 years.

I am what you call, “combat hardened.”

During those 12 years I made it through college and night law school in Chicago.

I have been a criminal defense attorney for over 42 years.

I have learned this: There are predators out there that don’t care if they are on camera, or being seen by ten witnesses or if the cops are rolling up on them at the time they decide to kill or injure you.

Several times have been attacked by men I had the drop on.

This: Some guys won’t stop unless you kill or injure them enough to make them stop. I don’t know why and it makes no sense to a rational person… but those guys are out there.

I see deep blue Seattle suddenly elected a REPUBLICAN city attorney, the first in some 30+ years. This is because a lot of the people who actually live there – the folks you never seem to hear about in media – are sick and tired of all the outsiders coming in and generally wrecking the place, and of corrupt Soros funded district attorneys who drop / refuse to press charges against the violent criminals / rioters / looters and such. So the only voice the actual residents have left is at the ballot box, which is also the only voice left that US corporate media cannot censor, distort and rewrite – yet.

Those of you who are old enough to remember the 1980’s are seeing history repeating – every few decades the left goes too far and seriously screws everything up, then the law & order / free market capitalist right gets voted in and things get better for awhile – till the republicans once again forget who they are are and the left once again starts making ruinous self-destructive inroads into corrupting society with all of the usual communist / anti-American garbage, until things once again get bad enough that the left / right cycle then repeats. History repeats because human nature never changes and history is consistently forgotten and/or rewritten.

The fear of course is that sooner or later, America is not going to survive it’s far left fools constantly seeking to tear her down. The Russian / communist Chinese alliance is putting tremendous amounts of money and effort into exploiting our open society to tear us apart from the inside out, and the America hating left is chock full of “useful idiots” who are all only too eager to accept their money and do their bidding. ChiCom financial ties to many of our various large corporations are enormous and powerful. The ChiComs purposely make it very profitable to be anti-American, and thus entire sports leagues have been corrupted too, like the NBA which will trample America all day long with never a negative word for the Chinese. The list goes on.. but for the moment at least, it does appear that the red wave is real and history is repeating as the left again has gone way too far. I suppose younger folks can try to read up on the 1980’s and Ronald Reagan, but they’d have to carefully avoid the media’s twisted distorted versions of that history – talk to older folks who REMEMBER what actually happened and who thus cannot be fooled.

I was a teen and young adult throughout the 80s and I remember very well how Reagan was hated, especially by the working~class community. Some blacks referred to him as Ray Gun because they felt he disdained them, but I don’t remember many people being so stupid as to embrace communism as many do today, especially in the universities. The dumbing down of American culture precipitously began after the early 80s with the advent of cRap “music”. That led to the victim~mentality status quo so popular today. I do remember when there was a time when conservative, working class people voted democrat. Incredible and hard to believe but that was a reality. I’d give anything to go back to the early 80s but not afterward when the arts began a sudden downward trend, which was a reflection of the dumbing down of America. Steve Allen wrote several books about this trend beginning in the mid 80s.

Blame George Soros and the other idiots who listened to him and voted for the “progressive” DA for L.A. county. He lets the criminals out as soon as they are arrested or doesn’t prosecute the crime. Either way the criminal goes free. Maybe when things get real bad, people will get their heads out of their behinds and vote these “progressives” (more like REGRESSIVES) out, but don’t hold your breath.

  • John Boutwell November 15, 2021, 1:09 pm

    Allow criminals to be criminals?
    That’s the best you got?
I see a problem here with how liberals deal with criminals.

  • skip November 15, 2021, 12:08 pm

This only makes the criminal think it is now easier to not only do the crime, but get away with it, as they expect little if any resistance, and they know the police will only take a report and file it in the trash can.

  • Lumberjack November 15, 2021, 10:54 am

The LAPD’s advise is as stupid as, ‘If a bear attacks you, play dead.’

  • kb31416 November 15, 2021, 10:47 am

    Um, no.
I will NEVER cooperate with being victimized.
And as others have noted, dead men tell no tales. The only story that will be told is the truth, by me. The perp will not have the opportunity to lie.

  • Tyrone Greene November 15, 2021, 9:50 am

“Be a good witness”, hmmm… haven’t you ever hear the saying, “DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES”….

  • Dr Manarii Tane November 15, 2021, 7:38 am

Please don’t move here and continue to vote for your democraps.

  • Abner Yokum November 15, 2021, 7:05 am

    Two takeaways from this information:

1-Live in fear, cuz we ain’t there to protect you.
2-Ask the robber, before he takes off, if you can use your (his)cell phone to call 911.

  • Rlee8541 November 13, 2021, 8:40 pm

I was stationed in California in the 80’s, the gun laws are unconstitutional then, continue to be the leader of a state, that hates being in with the rest of the Country. An earthquake along the borders and break off that state into the ocean forever. That’s what needs to happen and they can have New York too.

  • Jim November 12, 2021, 3:22 pm

Wouldn’t it make more sense to put a bullet into them before writing down all the particulars.

  • Kent November 12, 2021, 1:18 pm

submitting to predatory criminals always works out well for the victims. Yeah, right….. And they are paying these public servants for this advice?

  • Charles Pate November 12, 2021, 12:40 pm

It’s getting bad here in Denver also some dirt bag trued to rob me in a mission dining hall when told I was going to shot him if he did not f off I would put a bullet in his a. I thought he was going to cry 😭.K. Them all and let Odin sort them out

  • Dr. Strangelove November 12, 2021, 10:29 am

If you don’t resist, you embolden the thieves.

  • No1Hunter November 12, 2021, 10:21 am

Be a good witness? For what, you idiots just let them out to go do it again! But you know what? If the would be victim drops the scumbag in their tracks, they won’t be doing that again.

  • Kane November 12, 2021, 10:12 am

    Maybe Lebron will be tatgetted.

  • Russ November 12, 2021, 9:50 am

Their advice is to continue being a SHEEP ???? Pathetic, but so typical.

  • Godfrey Washington November 12, 2021, 9:47 am

Wait don’t pursue the robber after the robbery? Shouldn’t the robber not resist, cooperate, comply and be a good witness?

  • Fred Fester November 12, 2021, 8:57 am

    Crapafornia!😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • John Harris November 12, 2021, 8:51 am

I lived in LA for 70 years. I left 10 years ago. It went from being the greatest area of the country to the pit it has become.
Now I have my CCW and live among people who will not submit peacefully to being a victim.

    • SuperG November 12, 2021, 9:13 am

I fled CA over 26 years ago and have never regretted it!

I have no sympathy for Californians. They keep voting for Democrat leadership. Until they wake up from the wokeness, let them stew in the mess they created for themselves.

  • Stewart Smith November 12, 2021, 8:35 am

    My advice, Move

    • Kent November 12, 2021, 1:21 pm

But then they try to recreate the hellhole they just left. Why do they do that?

      • Jay December 3, 2021, 9:21 am

Exactly, look what’s happened in Colorado and Wyoming and Montana. Colorado more than the others. Commifornians vacation in the places, buy vacation rentals in those locations, then F ing move there and slowly turn them to shit.
