Overview
Being a full-fledged member of the cult of the 10mm, this was an excellent SHOT Show for me. New from Kimber this year is the Super Jagare. “Jagare” is German for hunter, and this new model should excel at that. Chambered in 10mm, it features a full 6-inch barrel to really exploit the velocity capability of this round. The barrel is also factory ported, which helps keep the gun controllable during recoil.

- OA Length: 9.7 inch
- Grips: micarta
- Sights: Leupold Delta Point Pro

Impression
This is one you really have to shoot to believe. It shoots smoother than any other 10mm I have played with. This is also one of the first 1911 pistols I have shot cut for a red dot optic; the Super Jagare comes equipped with a Leupold Delta Point Pro. That red dot, combined with a 1911 trigger, is absolutely lethal. As red dot pistols become more accepted and mainstream, I think we will see a lot more of this. It is a wonderful experience to shoot.
The rest of the gun is all Kimber 1911, which has set a high bar since the company’s inception. The butt of the pistol has been rounded. Front- and backstraps of the grip feature scale type texturing. The micarta grips are a work of art, and feature just enough checkering to hold the pistol firmly in hand. For the handgun hunter, or just a back country insurance gun, this is a must have.
Price & Availability
Keep an eye out in the coming months for a full review on this exciting new pistol. The MSRP is $2,688, which is pretty good considering it comes with the optic and has all the enhancements and amenities you would want.

Colt, RIA, Remington & Dan Wesson all make 10mm 1911s, the last three make long slides, much, much less money. I would seriously consider the Remington (re-worked Para) or the DW long before I’d be willing to spend that much money on a Kimber. You are now in handbuilt price territory. They really need to reassess their market and pricing.
The German word for “hunter” is “jäger” (in English, the word’s often rendered “jaeger”) and pronounced to rhyme with “Yaeger”, as in the famous test pilot’s last name). Not “jagare”.
Trying hard to understand the MSRP associated with this obviously beautiful 10mm. Granted if all you want is a 10mm auto, Glock and EAA pull together some reputable and well liked 10mm autos, if we are buying a branding cost, I say ok, but perhaps Kimber needs to put a little more meat on the bone aside from their good name and marketing fluff. Kimber, we are asking you to give us detail like hand fitting, match grade barrels or higher capacity or accessories that make this 10mm a stand-out other than the hype.
I can understand the MSRPs of all name-brand firearms easily. Some of the big manufacturers are charging whatever the market will bear (or what they hope it’ll bear – the law forbids any manufacturer from setting a fixed price on any commodity sold across state lines). When the market runs out of people with lots of money who are willing to spend it to see a famous name stamped on their firearms, MSRPs will come down. Not before..
Lets be honest. All this, cash and name BS for a 10MM really. Get a Glock and move on. Thank You
It’s about time more 1911 makers are rounding their butts (on the guns). Now if they’d also just undercut their trigger guards like Colt…. 😉
I just wish whoever the director/producer is would stop having Clay look into the camera while the person he’s interviewing is talking. It looks ridiculous and I’ll bet you a crisp $2 bill that Mr. Martin thinks it’s retarded also judging by the expression on his face. If the interviewee is addressing the camera then he should be looking at the camera and only then.
Don’t care how you spell it… $2688 is the show stopper for me.
AHHHHHHHH!
Somebody is wrong on the internet!!!111
Cool pistol, though.
This is a serious question. Does anyone make an affordable 10 MM, hand gun?
Thank you!
Glock 20. 15 rounds plus one in the tube.
I did quite a bit of research looking for the same thing and settled on a RIA Tac II ultra. I wanted a shorter barrel (the Ultra has a 4.25″ barrel) but they make it in a 6-inch for a third of the price of this Kimber. Nice weapon with G10 grips, nice trigger and fiber optic sights. Might not be a smooth shifter like a Kimber but it is solid and drops pigs like they were hit with a sledgehammer. Read the reviews best sub $1000 10 out there
Ruger sr1911 has some good reviews and around 750.00 cheap w bull barrell
You can pick up a Dan Wesson Razorback RZ10 in 10mm online right now for about $1,300. Grabagun.com has them in stock. Wessons are factory pistols made to custom build specs, with polished stainless. They shoot unbelievably well. I would have one , but unfortunately living in CA they are not on the DOJ List.
ahem…. The author here….. Sorry, my German isn’t great these days. My grandfather spoke enough for both of us back at Normandy. I get all the languages from those little European countries mixed together.
And that’s why for the 7 years I was stationed at Ops Bn 766th MI Det. FSB while the wall was still up we got called ugly Americans. Knuckle draggers.
My Grandfather probably took pretty close to the same route in the 75th as yours did.
Ho everyday has 2600 to buy a pistol. When you can buy a Glock for 650 0r a 1911 for about the same price..
Looks like lots of new cool guns are coming out. Price point and quality is HUGE. Make sure you get a gun that fits well in the hand and that you shoot well. Because if your NOT completely comfortable with it or dont like shooting it chances are you will NOT carry it. Which makes a ccw pointless. You cant protect yourself if your gun is sitting at home on your night stand. So before you buy rent or barrow the gun and try it out. I wish I would have done this with my Ruger LCP 380. Its just so snappy and the grips hurt my hands.
“Jagare” is Swedish for Hunter. Kimber meant to pay homage to the 10mm cartridges background. Norma was the first commerical ammo made for the 10mm cartridge. Norma is a Swedish based ammo Company.
What’s with all the superior comments about the name of Jagare, or Jaeger, or whatever?
When somebody tells you something you know is wrong, don’t you say something?
Dave,
Haven’t you caught on? Coming across as ‘Educated’ gun owners is of little import to some who post here. Accuracy, spelling and other such pesky details are just too bothersome. However, I think it only reasonable to expect a bit more from ‘pro’ writers. Others disagree. Meh.
The German word for hunter is spelled jaeger not jagare.
Or, more correctly still, Jäger, though it appears that Germans are slowly doing away with umlauts, eszett, and simplifying spelling.
HAHAHA! …..”“Jagare” is German for hunter….” No, it isn’t. Is that what Kimber told you…or did you make it up?
I hope Kimber egraves “Jagare” on the slide…..idiots
Instead of being so ugly why not provide the correct information.
A slight correction to the translation. Hunter is “Jäger” in german. “Jagare” (jägare) is swedish. Just FYI.
Isn’t “super jagare” in Swedish “drunk hunter”?
Really who cares what the name is they can spell it however the f@#$ they want. Ok back to the gun im not a big fan of kimber but this gun is awesome the site is $500 . They sti hunter 10mm 6″ is $2000 and DW bruin 10mm 6″ is $2000 . What i would normaly buy is sig probably best buy @ $1300 but i want 6″ for hunting and theres others that cost way more like Wilson, Baer and others . Cant stand clock know i feel i got best gun for the money.
