Heckler & Koch introduced a new optics-ready edition of their popular subcompact VP9-SK handgun, rounding out their entire VP9 lineup with optics-ready options.
The VP9-SK uses the same optics mounting system as the company’s previous VP9 models. Optics plates are sold separately, but they’re all-steel and available for pretty much every handgun optic on the market.
Holosun’s new Solar Charging Sight – MOS (SCS) gives users another option. Holosun announced their new line of optics at this year’s SHOT Show, and they’re already offering a model that fits the VP9-SK. Unlike most optics, which must be paired to a plate or a slide cut, Holosun is offering optics that fit pre-cut slides from different manufacturers.
In other words, users can purchase a Holosun SCS rather than a plate for their VP9-SK, and the optic will sit lower on the slide and co-witness with the factory sights.
The VP9-SK comes with the features and additions you expect from H&K. Models are available with an American or European mag release, and every VP9-SK comes with small, medium, and large grip options for various hand sizes.
The slide and magazine release buttons are not ambidextrous, but they are reversible.
The VP9-SK is somewhat larger than other concealed carry options on the market, weighing in at 23 ounces and measuring 6.61 inches in length, 4.57 inches in height, and 1.31 inches in width. But magazine options are available in 10, 13, and 15-round flavors, and the slide profile is similar to the full-size VP9.
In fact, as Justin Opinion pointed out in his full review of the VP9-SK, H&K’s more compact iteration “feels and functions exactly the same as the duty-sized gun.” Rather than engineer an entirely new gun to meet market demand for a compact handgun, H&K simply nipped and tucked their original VP9 to make it more concealable.
Now, with the addition of a slide cut, the VP9-SK is even more desirable as a go-to concealed carry option.
The optics-ready VP9-SK will be available for $999 with night sights and three mags (two 13-round, one 10-round) and $899 for two mags (one 13-round, one 10-round) and no night sights.

I own the non-optics ready VP9-SK and it is a fantastic pistol. Highly recommended.
