It was a high-stakes day in Perris, California on April 14, 2023. Riverside County deputies were on the hunt for Johnny Ray Llamas, a 35-year-old known felon, in the Meadowbrook area.
A tip-off from a watchful neighbor around 4:47 p.m. set the ball rolling. The report claimed a man and woman were lurking around a property on River Road.
Deputies showed up, confirmed it was Llamas, and jumped into action.
They called in their furry partner, Rudy, the K9, to help track the wanted man. Rudy sniffed out Llamas’ hiding place, but sadly, he was shot by the cornered fugitive.

Llamas ignored the deputies’ pleas to surrender. The chopper crew spotted him, still packing a handgun, making a dash with a woman for a nearby house.
As deputies moved in, Llamas aimed at them, sparking a deputy-involved shooting.
Llamas didn’t make it and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Rudy, the brave K9, also didn’t survive his injuries after being rushed to the vet. No deputies were hurt and no other suspects are on the loose.
The woman was taken in for questioning. And, it has been confirmed that Llamas was armed with a Ruger P89 semiautomatic handgun.
Video from the tragic incident can be viewed on Youtube. H/T to PoliceActivity.

Johnny never aimed at the officers. He was running away and they shot him in the back
Sorry you loons, it’s a dog nothing more, criminal disposed of is good though.
There WAS a deputy fatality. Just because he’s a K-9 doesn’t mean he isn’t a deputy. Rudy deserves your respect, author man!
Just too bad the criminal couldn’t have been killed several more times. Wish he could have died a slow agonizing death, while wild animals fed on his carcass.
Your a real pos
Good for the POS. Anybody shoots my dog have better had said their prayers beforehand.
Sad for the cops and their dog partner.
Wonder if it will make them think twice before they shoot someone else dog. Doubt it.
Is there a point to telling us all that the guy had a Ruger P89 automatic handgun?
I’d love to hear the reason for that…
Yeah, I was wondering that myself…
Because they murdered him. He was running away and they shot him in the back

Brave dog, love you.
