Could open carry finally come to Texas?
According to governor-elect Greg Abbott, he just needs a bill to sign and it shall be done.
“Throughout the campaign I announced my support for open carry in Texas,” said Abbott, according to the San Antonio Express-News. “If an open carry bill is passed by the House and Senate and arrives at my desk I will sign it into law.”
“If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it’s good enough for the state of Texas,” the Republican added.
Skeptics and cynics will obviously say that the operative word in his statement is “if.” In the past, open carry bills have stalled out in the state legislature, so needless to say that is a big “if.”
