FN’s new .22 LR pistol combines the functionality and styling of modern 9mm carry guns with the affordability of one of the world’s most common cartridges. The 502 Tactical FDE could be both an affordable way to train and a reasonable way to carry.
FN 502T
If you saw it on the shelf, you’d think it was a 9mm, and if you picked it up, its heft would still make you think it was a 9mm. It feels a lot like FN’s mid-size 509, but it’s chambered for .22 LR. Looking closely, you’d see it also has all the features you wish your 9mm had.
It comes standard with a threaded 4.6-inch barrel and suppressor-height blacked-out sights. It also has an optics plate so you can mount a red dot to the slide.
Upfront, it has a light rail under the barrel and aggressive stippling and checkering all over the undercut grip. The trigger weighs in at about 5lbs, and since it’s hammer-fired, the trigger is quite crisp.
Like the 509, its controls are all ambidextrous. Since the 502T is similarly sized to 9mm pistols and is suppressor-ready, it could be a good tool for training. And you’ll save on ammo costs as .22 LR ammo is cheaper than 9mm, obviously.
Interestingly, the slide is milled from aluminum, not steel. Also, Umarex manufactures the frame for FN. Unlike many .22 pistols, the 502 holds 15 rounds in an extended mag and 10 in a flush-fitting mag, and it ships with both. It is available in FDE or black. If it shoots as good as it feels, it’ll be a worthwhile gun.

Love to buy one where can I get one in salt lake city utah.?
Why buy anything from FN? This FN 502 gun seriously lacks product support. Try to find magazines, for months, like I have? I have spoken with their customer service at least 3 months now. They won’t tell the truth!
Will is run on any .22LR ammo (Federal, Winchester, Remington) or does it require CCI Magnums like the SIG Mosquito?
