Faxon Firearms, best known for their wide range of AR-pattern components, especially barrels, is showing off a new flagship series of limited-edition P-51 Mustang-themed rifles. Faxon will only produce 25 of these rifles.
The rifles are built around Faxon’s popular match-grade Gunner-profile barrel. This barrel features a nitride finish, 5R rifling and a nickel-teflon barrel extension. It’s matched to an M16 bolt carrier group with a “Superfinish” nitride treatment. At the muzzle is a Faxon MuzzLok washer-less flash hider.
Faxon builds each Mustang on a set of their Enhanced forged alloy receivers that use a tensioning screw to eliminate wobble. The receivers are completed with Radian Raptor LT charging handles, Radian Talon selector levers and Hiperfire EDTDM Single Stage Triggers.
Every rifle has a 16-inch barrel with a mid-length gas system and full-length 15-in modular M-Lok free-floating handguard. Unloaded with a Lancer magazine the rifle weighs just 6.1 pounds.
Rounding things out are Magpul MOE-SL slimline buttstocks and carbine-length buffer assemblies, Magpul MOE grips and of course, the excellent P-51 finish.
The custom coatings were applied by One Off Coating, a specialist that works with Cerakote finishes and laser engraving to create top-notch functional works of art.
Each of the 25 people who join the Faxon Mustang club will receive a collector’s T-shirt, Faxon stickers, a framed print of the original Mustang art used for the rifles’ finish and a certificate signed by Bob and Barry Faxon of Faxon Firearms.

Priced at $1,550 these will sell out fast. Faxon isn’t putting a price premium on these rifles between the quality components and custom work, not to mention, added extras.
If you’re a P-51 fan that wants a flexible, lightweight and good-looking rifle this Mustang should be on your short list. They won’t be around too long.
Otherwise if you like the build and want to put something together yourself with similar components, head over to Faxon Firearms for more info about their rifles, parts and accessories.
The gun industry is turning into “Orange County Choppers”, it’ like what theme can we apply to a gun this time? I will be so glad when this fad ends, cake decorators.
Sounds like a nice platform, but opportunity missed by not finding a way to cut the tooth pattern into the foregrip instead of just using the sticker-like printing.
Nice looking gun.
