Rabidly anti-gun Assemblyman David Chiu (D-San Francisco) had to eat crow over the weekend after mistaking an Airsoft gun for the real deal in a post on social media.

On Sunday, Chiu lamented finding the “packaging of a semi-automatic” on the city’s streets, suggesting that it was a sign of the times as the Bay Area has witnessed an uptick in crime in recent weeks.

“Finding the discarded packaging of a semi-automatic on a leisurely weekend walk was disturbing, particularly during this month’s surge of gun violence in San Francisco,” he tweeted, along with the hashtags #EndGunViolence #EnoughIsEnough.

Didn’t take long for the Twittersphere to slam him for his ignorance.

“Beyond parody,” wrote user Rob Pyers.  “The San Francisco Assemblyman freaking out about the discarded airsoft BB gun packaging is also the author of bullet-tracing legislation that has been criticized for not being technically feasible.”

Chiu yanked the tweet not long after being called to the carpet for bungling it.

“I deleted an earlier tweet that misidentified a Glock 19 air pistol.  While not a semi-automatic, it’s still disturbing to see remnants of a weapon that can cause injury, especially in an area where young kids play and while we are dealing with a surge of gun violence in SF,” Chiu tweeted.

Twitter users did not let him off the hook.  Chiu was still taking a beating at the time of this article’s publication.  Here are a few of the highlights:

I know it’s funny but the joke’s ultimately on us. Politicians of this sort now run the country. Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer — and on and on and on. They’re all cut from the same cloth.

At this point, it’s hard to tell what’s worse, the fact that they’re undaunted by their ignorance on this issue or that they feel no shame when they’re called out on it.

Chiu’s mea culpa wasn’t even sincere. He doesn’t care that he looks like an idiot. Because in his heart of hearts he probably believes inanimate objects are to be blamed for violence, not the lunkheaded criminals who wield them.

We should go by way of the oriental Starship Troopers shower scene dialogue. In order to vote, run for office or have children u must first serve in the military. It would get rid of most of these pansy ass politicians. It would better our gene pool as well, hahaha.

Should be called mom’s demand ice cream! Since it’s a well known fact that useful idiots are the first through the gulag gates. Maybe that’ll save em from the beatus

If you hadn’t voted to let people defecate in your streets, maybe some people wouldn’t be so prone to violence’s. I know it would piss me off if I stepped in it.

He’d probably have an aneurysm if he found out there are thugs that actually hide community guns around the city for anyone to use for illegal acts. And the people hiding the guns aren’t Amish or NRA members.

Never let facts get in the way of a good scare story.

Please refrain from publishing this type of ridiculous drivel. If I wanted to read verbal diarrhea from a politician I care nothing about, I could always waste my time and money reading a leftist newspaper. GunsAmerica can do better than that.

This type of “ridiculous drivel” not only informs of us of antigun politicians to vote against and whom know not of what they speak but gives the vast majority of us a good chuckle in the morning to help get us through the day.
I never tire of hearing Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) speak of the “shoulder thing that goes up” when questioned about what a barrel shroud is or US Representative Diana DeGette (D-CO) who honestly believes that magazines come preloaded with ammunition that when it is emptied, it is thrown away because it is no longer any good.
Of course, my all-time favorite is Joe Biden telling the people to buy a double barreled shotgun for home defense because an AR15 is harder to aim and harder to use.

I guess it’s not disturbing to find used drug needles, human waste and tent cities in exclusive neighborhoods on the same walk……………just saying.

We need universal background checks for voters. These are the idiots that get elected by those with no intelligence nor drivers licenses. Common sense dictates that if you need a background check evetytime you would purchase a weapon, then you need a background check every time you voye for one of these idiots who makes the laws requiring universal background checks in the first place. Common sense legislation to me.

We’re rapidly approaching the time when we will need to apply the French Solution to these “people”.
