A homeowner in Chatham, Illinois shot a midnight intruder earlier this month when he caught him trying to break in.
Midnight Intruder
According to the local Fox32 news, the intruder was about 50 years old.
The 50-year-old intruder tried to break into a home in Chicago’s South Side around midnight, on June 2nd.
The homeowner confronted the midnight intruder and shot him. The intruder was hit in the back.
Police arrived and arrested the suspect. USACarry reported the intruder was in critical condition when he arrived at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Backlash Against The Homeowner
This case happened in South Chicago, where gun laws are tight. Those against using guns will likely claim the homeowner was not acting in self-defense.
Some people say that because the homeowner shot the intruder in the back, that was not self-defense.
In Illinois, self-defense is legal if the victim reasonably believes they are in danger. It is also considered appropriate to defend against felonies, such as theft.
Conclusion
Just because the midnight intruder was hit in the back, does not mean he retreated. Too little information has been released to accuse the homeowner of anything unethical.

Yes there is, did YOU read the article where it mentions Chicago’s south side, and Fox 32 which is a Chicago TV station. I live in this cesspit of a state and I know my local geography. Do you? I think you need to chill out and actually read the article. It happened in Chicago, in the Chatham neighborhood. The author put it as the city but it was in south Chicago neighborhood of Chatham.
