Defensive Use of Firearms

Back in 1997, I drove around Atlanta for an hour with a gun to my head. Let’s just call it a learning experience–my own teachable moment. I learned a lot about myself, and what I was capable of doing. Thanks to the Godfather of Soul, I walked away. And I haven’t been unarmed since.

There’s a debate raging in Michigan that touches many of us. The root of the issue is this: a Catholic priest is catching hell for encouraging his congregation to take an active role in their own defense. And that role includes guns and training. I think he’s got a point. And I may be preaching to the choir, but I’m going to ask anyhow. Why wouldn’t you carry where you worship?

A South Carolina cop is being charged with murder following a fatal shooting of a suspect that was pulled over during a traffic stop Saturday in North Charleston, local media reports.

Mark Katchem, 25, walked into a Wells Fargo Branch in Cobb County, Georgia, last Tuesday with the intent to rob it. He would have succeeded if it wasn’t for a law-abiding veteran armed with a handgun.
