Long Range Made Easy with Nikon’s ProStaff 5 Custom XR

{ 9 comments }

Nikon has taken a different approach to solving the challenge of quickly finding the right scope adjustments for a given cartridge and rifle combination. Rather than forcing the shooter to use an “average” ammo load and hoping performance from their specific rifle matches the ballistic drop reticle, they’ll customize a scope for you, your rifle, and the exact type of ammunition you like to shoot. { 15 comments }

Let’s assume you have some rimfire rounds on hand–and I know some of you do–what should you do with them? For those of you with an M9, I’d suggest this conversion kit. If you have the ammo, it makes training with the Beretta practical and economical.

Want to launch a can of Coke from an AR-15? The Can Cannon can. And it does. I do a lot of reviews, but I’ve never done one that was half as fun as this. The Can Cannon is the most fun you can have with your clothes on, and it is more fun than some of the fun I’ve had with my clothes off. Read this review–summer is the perfect time for flinging tennis balls and whizzing Coke cans.

Right Now Range Review–The Fun Is The Box

The bottom of the range box has standard bulls eye targets in a couple of different sizes. But the coolest part is the shelf on top that you can set things on and hang things off of. I was curious how well this part would hold up but it did great. The design is well thought out and the card board is thick and sturdy. We used the shelves to hang empty cans off of and to set plastic bottles and apples on. The tops of the shelves also have a slot in them that can hold clays.

5  Mods for EDC 1911s

5 Mods for EDC 1911s

The 1911 is now 104 years old. Some of you will say that it is not relevant and is, at best, an historic relic that deserves some respect. I am not of that camp. I carry a 1911 as an EDC. But I don’t carry one that looks like it came off of John Mosses’ work bench. Over those 104 years there have been some great and simple modifications to the original design that makes for a better EDC.

The SilencerCo Octane 45 can be used with smaller calibers too, like this Glock 26 9mm.

Tritium Night Sights for My XD-S - $127?

Tritium Night Sights for My XD-S – $127?

am not one who upgrades guns all that much. But since getting my first set of tritium night sights stock on a Springfield EMP, I decided that this is the one thing that for my carry guns I must insist on adding, if I didn’t procrastinate it forever. My main carry gun, and pretty much only carry gun these days, is another Springfield gun, the XD-S in .45ACP. It is a single stack, two finger grip that shoots like a 3 finger grip, or better. And until now, I had indeed procrastinated putting the night sights on it. When I read about the new TFX tritium sights from Truglo, I had to try them. Everything I have purchased Truglo in the past has exceeded expectations for the money, and these sights were no different.
