Food and water storage. Get at least 50 gallons of water and store up at least 90 days worth of food. When you get that get more food storage until you have at least 6 months worth. I have at least 400 rounds of ammunition for my primary firearms. I want to get more eventually. .22 Long Rifle ammunition trades like gold in my opinion.
After you get the above start storing up a lot of silver. If you get to over 500 ounces of silver go for small gold coins (0.5 ounces or less).

Seeds, coffee, tobacco, booze, bullets, beans, hand-tools, bandaids, guns… All sorts of stuff folks can actually use and will need/crave will be worth more than gold and easier to trade.

I’m a nobody, but I feel that guns are almost as good an investment as gold and silver. They’re more useful in a combative situation ie you can’t throw an oz of gold at someone and do any damage unless you hit them in the eye, and they hold or go up in value. I believe that someone would gladly trade you their gold for a weapon that you own to defend themselves in a crisis situation, ergo the weapon is still the better choice of investment. YMMV

They can have my gun when they pry it out of my cold dead hands.
