Introduced in 2011, the Browning 1911-22 A1 is an 85% replica of the 1911 firing the ubiquitous .22 LR cartridge. Controls and takedown are identical to John Browning’s original design, making it a great companion to a full-sized gun. Since introducing the gun, Browning has added a desert tan polymer frame version, a black and pink polymer version, a Compact or Commander version, and different color grip panels to personalize it to your tastes. It’s a good-looking gun and feels good in the hand. MSRP is $579.99 for the polymer frame pistol; $599.99 for the aluminum alloy gun; $639.99 for Black Label laminate grips, Commander hammer, extended slide release, and extended ambidextrous safety; and $669.99 for the Black Label laminate grip model with an underlug rail.
I have the compact ‘Regal’ model, and it’s sights have the 3 white dots — MUCH easier to see and shoot than the others — and I’m 70 years old!
I have looked at (and held) the Browning .22LR, and I think it would/could be a nice addition to my (albeit small) collection of .22 caliber pistols however, the sights are so small I struggle to see them (compared to every other pistol I own). If it had better sights, I would own one today.
Does any one have after market sights for the Browning 1911 22?
I love that 1911 Browning 22 pistol but I have a question can you change grips with any 1911? And is there an after-market sites for the gun? If not I can’t buy it I can’t see down those black sites. Any ideas guys? Thx. BB
At $700 that is an expensive 22 – and rimfires are iffy on a good day

Now how about a threaded version? This is a currently growing field in the firearms community. It really should’nt add more than $50 to the msrp. What does everone else think?
I own the all black alloy frame with the wood grips. It will shoot any brand of ammo, new and old stock that I have hoarded. It never fails to cycle even after several hundred rounds. It’s my first choice to carry because it’s so light and fits my hand perfectly, and it shoots tighter groups than I can hold. I shoot empty shogun shells lined up at 25, 50, 75 feet all day long with it. I put 300-500 rounds a week through it and it just keeps right on entertaining me. By far the best 22lR hand gun I have bought in years. I am also a 1911 nut, so that even makes it better. Oh, I did a trigger job on it the day I bought it though. Took out the creep, nice and crisp, and pulls 2 lbs now. Go buy one!!!
