Nothing screams “I’m bored!” quite like letting your friends shoot you in the chest with an AK-47 at close range just to test the effectiveness of your body armor.

And that’s exactly what one American troop did. The unidentified troop stood at the ready while holding a bulletproof plate against his chest. His Kurdish squadmate took aim at point blank range and rattled off a round from his AK-47. Amazingly, the body armor held up and the American troop walked away unscathed.

Obviously, this is a terrible idea and incredibly dangerous. Don’t try this.

If this troop finds himself bored again, I recommend pushups or stripping and cleaning his weapons.

I wouldn’t exactly call this a confidence building exercise. This was a result from idle hands. Push-ups, sit-ups, peeling potatoes, latrine duty…..obviously this guy needs something to keep him busy. Actually if he is this immature, he shouldn’t be in a warzone…or in the military. I also don’t agree with them(troops, formerly one myself) being able to take or post videos on social media like this. Just makes the military look bad when morons get video time. Saying Hi to your kids from a combat zone is one thing….this was stupidity. And if that plate hadn’t held, a crap storm would have ensued. Way to represent, Dufus!!!!

As a student of propaganda, I heartily agree with you.

Many troops have died due to these videos. The motivation if gives the enemy for enlistment and morale means unnecessary deaths of our troops.

I’m all for transparency and I’ve learned a lot watching these videos, but it isn’t worth the costs.
