Body-Cam Footage Released of Gunfight Between Cop, Suspect After Texas Mall Shooting

The Allen Police Department released body-worn camera footage on Monday from a shooting incident on May 6, 2023, at the Allen Premium Outlets in Texas. The footage depicts a gunfight between a responding officer and the suspect.

This release followed a review of the incident by a grand jury. It was presented by the Texas Rangers and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.

The grand jury upheld the use of force as justified under Texas law after evaluating the evidence. The jury returned a “no bill” verdict on June 27.

The Allen Police Department expressed appreciation for the Texas Rangers, the District Attorney’s Office, and the grand jury for promoting accountability and transparency through this process.

The body camera footage, showing the first responding officer’s engagement in the situation, is now public.

“This video shows how quickly a routine interaction with the public turned into a life-and-death situation,” said Allen Police Chief Brian Harvey.

The video, edited to protect civilian identities and censored for offensive language, might disturb some viewers. The department urges discretion upon viewing.

Further transparency comes as the Allen Police Department requests an independent, comprehensive review by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

The subsequent after-action report will provide insight and best practices to enhance future training and emergency responses.

They should show this to every cop and security guard that gets paid to protect the public, especially the useless cops in Uvaldi Texas. This cop is what I call a hero and what a brave person does to protect people. I’m surprised it even had to go to a grand jury.
