Blac-Rac is a Boise, Idaho-based company that has been making weapon mounts for the law enforcement and military communities for years. Recently, though, and as we mentioned at SHOT Show 2018, they have dipped their toe into the civilian market with a product that is going to knock your socks off!  The Blac-Rac Model 1070.

The Blac-Rac 1070 weapon retention system will secure a weapon anywhere you need to place one. They have attachments for cars (ceiling or upright), helicopters, ATVs, UTVs, and, motorcycles, and, of course, bicycles. Yes, you can get attachments for in-the-home use as well.  A single mount covers hunting rifles, ARs, and pretty much any other weapon you have in your arsenal. Including grenade launchers.  Not joking.  Watch video for details.

The civilian model 1070 retails for $399.

As I demonstrated in my very first video highlighting the Blac-Rac, entitled “Is It too Easy to Steal an AR from a Police Cruiser?“, what makes this system difficult to defeat is that in addition to being extremely tough, the takedown pins on the rifle are covered which prevents a would-be thief from disassembling the lower from the upper.

At the shop where they are built. It isn’t in China.  It’s Idaho!

Another great feature for the hunter or sportsman, the mount features vibration dampening materials, to ensure you show up at your destination still zeroed.

I learned on my factory tour that Blac-Rac mounts are made in the United States!  All materials are U.S.-sourced. No Chinese steel here. The assembly process is completed on sight by skilled craftsmen. Kudos to Blac-Rac for keeping jobs in America, where they belong!

A look at the key features of the Blac-Rac 1070.

As an advocate of the truck gun, I like this mounting system a lot. I am also a little more cautious about hardware now that I have kids.

If you are in the market for a home or vehicle mount, that is easily accessible, this one is hard to beat. If I can’t break it without tools, I doubt your average criminal can either.

These racks are solidly made but beware – part of the rack must be inserted into the trigger guard for it to lock. Most folks aren’t fans of putting anything inside a trigger guard except a finger when the front sight is on target. It’s fine for securing an unloaded rifle but they sell them to LE agencies for duty use as well so do your research before you buy and make sure it’s suitable for your purposes.

First off, send the young presenter to a chiropractor for a proper spinal cracking to release his nasal pressure, sounds like a he’s talking inside a fish tank; next introduce the sport to a straight razor and a proper wash and haircut. Finally, remove your drabby ass clothes and get some professional attire. The street rats in Barcelona look like princes compared to this get up.

Hey! Lay off Clay. He must be reading these he doesn’t have on a t-shirt with a coffee stain like he did the last time

Looks like trying to pry that weapon out of the blacrak is as close to PT as Clay has come in a while.
I must agree with the comment above: Lean a little closer to that razor and cut/comb your hair Clay.

Great video Clay!!!! Definitely looking into this for the truck, in the house. BTW Clay’s a warrior not a commentator and I understood every word he said.

Blac rac 1070 model where can you purchase it. Is it carried at local gun stores?

  • F. A. Brauer April 13, 2018, 9:12 am

Who is the slob with the white T-shirt? Did no one producing this video think he should comb his hair and shave first? Professionalism is lacking. Even his t-shirt looked like he slept in it. Let me guess, his dad owns the business?

You mean I can finally be honored to buy their product? I’ve been deemed acceptable to have their highly prized and restricted gun lock?
I called a year ago and was told LEO only. Why? It’s a gun lock, it’s not a top secret government controlled item.
    Maybe I’ll get one…

In all do respect I love the gun videos but I am having a hard time understanding Clay Martin. He talks to fast and slurs his words beyond recognition. He needs to take a course in grammar and stop the fast talking routine. Sorry for the negative comment but I had to stop watching his video’s because I couldn’t understand him.

    • Gourdhead April 13, 2018, 10:25 am

He also needs to learn to spell.

    • FirstStateMark April 15, 2018, 10:46 am

I agree with you. Sometimes I can’t understand a thing he’s saying. Talks way too fast. Some videos I can’t even watch. This is one of them.

Thanks for sharing this, it’s a fantastic, idiot-proof system! I could use this in my home, in my car, and on my bike. I also really appreciate the fact that you still have quick access. (I’m not a fan of Fort Knox-type systems that seriously limit access.) Brilliant!
