Overview
Barrett has continued to surprise this year, and the only thing more shocking than the new line of hunting rifles was the new line of shotguns. When the booth person said we would be talking about the new Barrett shotguns, I fully expected a bullpup, whiz bang, tactical ninja, magazine-fed, blaster. Probably in 8 gauge, in keeping with the Barrett heritage of extreme caliber choices. I could not have been more shocked to see a fully engraved, Italian-style over under as well as some side-by-sides.
Impression
I am not a shotgun connoisseur; that wasn’t really the style in my neighborhood unless we count very illegally sawed off versions. But this gun was staggeringly beautiful. If you had told me it was a $20,000 English shotgun, I would have believed it. But, with pricing starting at $2,200 and going up to $6,550, these are great deals for the money.
The intricacy of the engraving on this model is worth seeing with your own eyes by itself. Barrett didn’t just introduce a 12 gauge to test the waters either. Go big or go home, we should have expected no less. These will be available in 12, 20, 16, and 28 gauges from day one. Coming soon to a sporting clays event near you, mint julep not included.
