American Built Arms P*Grip
Finding a gun that turns you on can be half the fun, but for those of us with smaller hands, it is that much harder to find a weapon that we can comfortably operate.
History shows that Firearms have been built to fit their owners since their introduction. Sadly this standard of craftsmanship was almost lost with introduction of mass production and interchangeable parts. Only recently have accessory makers emphasized both modular construction, and custom fitment. Companies like A&B Arms are bring this custom feel back to modular rifle platforms, and doing it at a great price point. Their P*Grip offers a new twist on the AR pistol grip. Instead of a boxy grip that equates length with grip, the P*Grip is more compact, and more ergonomically shaped. A*B Arms is marketing the grip for those who want a compact option for short barreled rifles (which is how we set it up for testing). As someone with small hands, I think there’s another angle to consider.
AR 15s generally come in one size: M1 A standard issue. This can be problematic if you’re a smaller stature person, or a just built on a smaller frame. Furniture is your only chance at finding a happy medium in the quest for the comfortable gun. There have always been larger options on the market feeding the school of thought that bigger is better. But lets not forget about the little guys or gals.
The construction of this grip is lightly textured polymer, designed with optimal retention in mind. It feels slightly smaller than a typical AR grip, and has swells on both sides of the grip that create a comfortably slim, but full grip that fills the interior recesses of the hand.
This grip is slick enough that it won’t snag on clothing or gear, but it still allows for a firm purchase that will not fail under stress or slippery conditions. I used the SBR P*Grip on a registered Colt M16. I have small hands and have never been able to manipulate an ar15 as easily as can other rifles and pistols. Teamed up with a A*B Arms SBR V*Grip, the 8 inch AR felt better than before.
So is this part the holy grail of grips? Undoubtedly no. It appeals to a niche of the market that has traditionally been left out (the smaller shooters), or those who go in for minimalist design (some SBR owners). But if you fall into either of these groups (or both, as is often the case) this may be the perfect grip.

Very interesting, I like the SBR/minimalist aspect. What is the light mounted on the fore end?
