Ted Nugent Accused of Banning Guns at Virginia Concert, Mandating Gun-Free Zone

According to Local 10 News, Ted’s team banned guns at his recent show in Roanoke, Virginia, creating a gun-free zone. On Facebook, though, The Nuge blasted the report, calling it “fakenews” [sic].

Local 10 News of Virginia is claiming that Ted Nugent banned firearms at his concert on Tuesday night.

The station reported that it was the motor city madman’s management team that made the call not to allow guns into the Berglund Center in Roanoke because as a city-controlled property it cannon ban gun unless a performer requests it.

“It happened about five minutes before we opened doors, we had a security meeting before we opened doors and the subject came up and we said, ‘Yes people will be bringing firearms,'” Berglund Center General Manager Robyn Schon told the station. “And Nugent’s people said, ‘Uh, no, our agreement says no.’”

Video taking from the concert shows concertgoers being asked to return firearms to their vehicles and being patted down before entry.

“Given the things that have happened in nightclubs like the Pulse and what happened in Manchester, (Nugent’s) security people are taking extra precautions,” Schon continued. “They are not novices; they are very seasoned people.”

Schon said that two fans did have their guns turned away at the door.

Meanwhile, The Nuge is calling the report “fakenews [sic].”

“Dear God in heaven & damn the fakenews lying bastards! I gave the direct order tonight that guns were absolutely welcome to my concert. The media cannot be trusted. They are consumed with hate and dishonesty,” said Nugent on Facebook Wednesday.

“We had a phenomenal concert tonight as I offered prayers for the soulless crazed hateful protesters,” added Uncle Ted. “America be aware that the media is infested with America haters and liars. Meanwhile thank you Roanoke for a wonderful #6703 ultimate rockout! God bless you all. To hell with the lying punks.”

News 10 said that while some folks were upset about the gun-free zone, no one would go on camera to complain. The majority, however, were fine leaving their guns in their vehicles, according to the report.

“I don’t have a problem with that at all. I think you can look around and see this is an orderly crowd and I didn’t anticipate anything else,” Nugent fan Tom Miller told the station.

Reading the comments on Nugent’s Facebook page, there are responses from folks who said they were at the concert and that while it’s true that guns were banned, it wasn’t because of Ted but because the venue was serving alcohol.

“I was there, Ted… The lady outside said you requested that no guns be brought inside, then turned around and said it was because alcohol was served,” wrote Jason Craft

“Funny, the news article didn’t say anything at all about that, huh? Don’t worry, most people are fed up with the fake news of the day!! It’s no wonder the media can’t be trusted,” Craft continued.

Ted was directly asked by a Facebook follower about whether guns would be allowed at an upcoming show in Nashville.  To which, Ted replied, “It is always up to the facility and the local laws.”

I see most people love to blame a person they don’t like/aka, Ted N. however since when does Ted N. make the law and enforce them people! The kicker too is, when the F___ did he, or would he care, what the haters think anyway?!?!?

    • Z July 24, 2018, 4:26 pm

Evidently you didn’t read the article or watch the news clip. It was Tes Nugent’s contract that prohibited concealed carry. In fact, he is to blame.

I joined the Marines in ‘67 and went to Nam in ‘68. I was a grunt, saw very little of the inside of any base. All by my choice.

I really can’t quite decide if I hate the guys who dodged the draft, or respect them for being smarter than I was. See, Nam turned out to be a pretty bad clusterfuck.

But as far as Nugent, not quite the type to be my best buddy, or for my kids/grandkids to look to as a roll model.

  • GARY KUYAT July 21, 2018, 3:19 pm

As an NRA life member, can we at least get Turd Nuggets off the NRA board? Please? He brings shame to everything he touches. How he’s in and a person like Adam Kraut is out strains my faith in the board election process.

  • Dan July 21, 2018, 9:52 am

Ted Nugent is probably the only person in this country who might be more narcissistic than Trump. He gives an interview describing the lengths he went to to avoid serving and protecting the flag he now loves to wave in everyone’s face. We are not obligated to defend or support anyone who “pretends” to support our Second Amendment rights when it’s convenient for selling concert tickets or like in Trump’s case, to get our votes.

When economics or political expediency favor support of any type of prohibition or even all out ban of those Second Amendment rights, Nugent will claim that others prevented him from supporting our rights as he laughs all the way to the bank, and Trump will claim that his hands are tied as he urges us to continue supporting him and laughs all the way to his lucrative Russian contracts.

Don’t forget, it was the same “fake news” that exposed Vietnam for what it really was that is now trying to expose Trump for what he really is, and a man who shits himself to avoid serving his country because he had selfish priorities (like Dick Cheney) while criticizing those conscientiously objecting to a war that unnecessarily killed thousands of brave Americans who chose not to shit themselves in order to remain safely in their parent’s basement strumming a guitar.

      Well stated.

    • Tim January 3, 2020, 9:11 am

      She lost. Get over it.

  • Mike July 20, 2018, 7:17 pm

Ted bought a badge so he is no longer a person that laws apply to. He can carry wherever he wants, he doesn’t care that you can not.
He says local laws apply, but then has a concert in a facility that doesn’t allow guns? How much do you want to bet that he was armed?

I am from SE Michigan, have followed Ted for decades, I used to listen to him when he had his own radio station, but honestly have to say “he has jumped the shark”.

I quit voting for him a few years back for the NRA board, but unfortunatly most others still do.

  • Adam Jeppson July 20, 2018, 2:02 pm

    Meh.

  • Z July 20, 2018, 12:46 pm

Blannelberry, you mental defective. No one in that news story accused Nugent himself of banning concealed carry at the concert. They very clearly stated that it was in the contract and that the promoters required the concealed carry prohibition. You’re the source of the “fake news” here. Get your head out of your ass and listen to what’s actually being said instead of what you want to hear.

  • Tom Bailey July 20, 2018, 11:31 am

Ted Nugent is a slim bag, must disgusting person on this earth!

  • Michael bolton July 20, 2018, 9:36 am

Actually, Ted is a known lier. Or have you all FORGOTTEN about the fact he is a draft dodger who did meth and shit his pants to get out of Vietnam…

    But he’s against drugs…

Oh wait,he lied about that to be in rolling stone. He said years later.

    Or did he?

Because he sure didnt go to Vietnam.

    Fake wannabe toughguy.

    Nothing more.

Did you know that 2x as many baby boomers claim to be Vietnam vets as went…

Or that hypocrite boomers seem to have no problem with the fact their generation was so against war, yet as soon as they took over govt… they have sent 3x as many to the middle east of their own children and its lasted 3x as long as Vietnam.

I hate boomers. All of them will lie directly to your face, with a big smile thinking they are funny or clever. They arent. They are pathetic.

    • Z July 20, 2018, 10:56 am

You’re correct about him shitting himself to get out of the draft but did meth exist in the 60’s?

    • kimberProSS July 20, 2018, 11:19 am

I think you may be an example of a “Red Flag” case. A liberal with the classical hate derangement.

    • Jim July 20, 2018, 11:29 am

OK junior, you’ve had your say; now go get your participation trophies and run off to your safe space for a good cry.

      • Z July 20, 2018, 1:02 pm

This is the interview in which Tes Nugent explains how he got out of the draft.

Interviewer: How did you get out of the draft?

Ted Nugent: Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin’ it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin’ around, hippying down, getting’ loaded and pickin’ my ass like your common curs, I’d say “Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin’ around in the gutters.” But I wasn’t a gutter dog. I was a hard workin’, mother****in’ rock and roll musician.

I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.

See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin’ dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I’m gonna play their own game, and I’m gonna destroy ’em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin’ awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I’ve always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherf*cker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn’t know and I’m vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was — ’cause I was really into bein’ clean and on the ball — I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.

So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn’t believe the smell. They were ridiculin’ me and pushin’ me around and I was cryin’, but all the time I was laughin’ to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, “Oh my God, put those back on! You f*cking swine you!” Then they had a urine test and I couldn’t piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin’ up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin’ up. So I went home and cleaned up.

They took a putty knife to me. I got the street rats out of my hair, ate some good steaks, beans, potatoes, cottage cheese, milk. A couple of days and I was ready to kick ass. And in the mail I got this big juicy 4-F. They’d call dead people before they’d call my ass. But you know the funny thing about it? I’d make an incredible army man. I’d be a colonel before you knew what hit you, and I’d have the baddest bunch of motherf*ckin’ killers you’d ever seen in my platoon. But I just wasn’t into it. I was too busy doin’ my own thing, you know?

  • kk July 20, 2018, 4:09 am

if you believe the lying media at this point ,I question your sanity and also your ability to safely handle guns…its slingshots for you and we’ll just hold onto the ball bearings…

  • Jeff Claywell July 18, 2018, 7:23 pm

Ted apparently follows the rules the NRA has for it’s conventions. What a brave fellow. Gun free zones are deadly but Ted’s management insists that he plays in gun free zones. The courage he must have to take the stage knowing his management has disarmed all the legal carrying citizens.

    Profile in hypocrisy, er, courage.

    • joefoam July 20, 2018, 8:54 am

The Secret Service required that no guns were allowed as that is their policy when they travel with the executives. The NRA had nothing to do with the ban. NIce try.

    • Al July 20, 2018, 9:15 am

This is NOT hypocrisy, this is ignorance on YOUR part.
Ted ain’t King, just as he and his security and the venue themselves, must follow local ordinances and Laws.

      • Z July 20, 2018, 10:23 am

People who attended the concert are on record as being denied access while carrying a firearm. The concert promoter is on record saying they denied entry of concealed carry. The city didn’t block concealed carry, Ted Nuggets staff did. The only person claiming it didn’t happen is Ted Nugget. The only hypocrisy is claiming that it’s “fake news” when his own people denied entry to concealed carriers.

        • John Rogers July 20, 2018, 11:26 am

Ted didn’t claim that it didn’t happen. Ted said HE did not direct it to happen. Saying it was his idea, when it was not, is indeed, the definition of Fake News.

The main stream media has lost all credibility with me.

          • Z July 20, 2018, 12:41 pm

Dude, watch the news clip attached to the story. It’s very clearly stated that it was in Nugents contract and that his staff were the ones to enforce the prohibition on concealed carry. It happened. NO ONE SAID TED NUGENT PERSONALLY ORDERED THE BAN. Got that? The lie here is that Ted Nugent was accused of ordering the ban by the media. The news story never claimed it was Nugent himself, the only fake news here is the title of this bullshit article. Again, watch the actual news story imbedded in this article.
