The MAD System

Burris Ballistic Services
Burris is launching Burris Ballistic Services that will calculate the trajectory of your guns and provide you with a printed ballistics table based on your rifle-specific data. The best part is you can get all of this for free! For those wishing to take it to the next level, for less than $100 you can get a custom turret made that will plug all of this information into your dials and allow you to select range-specific settings for your rifle.
They will also offer knob conversions for people who like their glass but want different knob styles. They will convert from hunter turrets to target turrets for $80 and vice-versa for $40.
XTR II 1-8x
The latest tactical scope from Burris is the new XTR II 1-8x riflescope. This has a huge 34 mm tube that appears to pull so much light that it could collapse a small star. While 1-4x and 1-6x scopes have become more and more common in the 3-gun world but true 1-8x magnification in an affordable price range has thus far been unheard of.

Although they were not able to give me an exact price point, the price range they indicated, around or under $1,000 will make this a must-have short-to-long-range tactical scope. The XTR II 1-8x riflescope also includes the MAD System, which should make it an instant hit with the 3-gun crowd and with AR shooters everywhere.

I am curious exactly how a 1-8x24mm riflescope can pull so much light. The fact is that any 24mm objective lens is going have a miserable twilight factor. With an exit pupil of only 3mm at 8X, light gathering is going to be a challenge. The size of the tube doesn’t have any effect on the light gathering capability of the scope. Burris most likely used a 34mm tube because they had one and it simply to hard to cram an 8x zoom into a smaller size.
Replaceable turrets new?? I have a 25 year old Leupold 6.5×20 Target that was delivered with 2 types of turrets. Not much new about the turrets.
Like has been said, msrp on a scope means absolutely nothing, i have a 2.5-16x 6500 bushnel DOA recticle, msrp is still $1200+ i bought for $500 bout 5 years ago
For the guys asking for this scope at $500, go ahead and check out price points for any other 1-8 power scope on the market that’s not total junk.. It may not be in your price range, but at $1000 that’s half or more of what the next 1-8 scope is gonna cost you, even 1-6 power scopes outside of the new Vortex scope are gonna cost you $1k or more for a good optic
China? Obviously he has never owned a Burris scope. They are a quality scope and not made in China but Millet is. A customized scope as described above is a steal at the prices quoted.

Everything made in China. You would think the price would be around $500. If you want a good scope look at the Millet 1×4 designated marksman scope. Around $200 from optics planet. I would bet they have less than $100 tied up in this $1000 scope from Burris. But nowadays if it aint a Grand, it just isnt worth buying, Right?
Regardless if they have a good scope or not, I have problems with dealing with people that appear to be from the Aryan Nation, such as the guy with the shaved head and beard growing from his chin.

I understand the need and desire for a cheaper scope but as stated previously there are plenty of cheaper scopes for sure but NONE of any quality with the ability to be customized like this scope. They just don’t exist. However, don’t completely count out Burris from your Budget as the store price for the starter model of this scope in time and on sale to be much much less than a grand.
