RG Revolvers, manufactured in Germany by Rohm in Sontheim, were cheap revolvers, but they were always pretty good cheap revolvers. In the 1970s, some of the .38 Special specimens we sold locally digested literally hundreds of rounds of Super Vel +P ammunition with no major hitches. This Revolver is on the same frame as its .38 Special Siblings, but it is chambered in .32 Smith & Wesson Long caliber. This is the RG 36 T with Eig Cutlery Import Stamp on it. We believe it was manufactured in 1968 or 1969, around the time of the passage of the Gun Control Act and shortly before Eig Cutlery morphed into F.I.E. Corporation, direct ancestor to the current E.A.A. Company. Sights are Windage and Elevation Adjustable, 4 inch Ventilated Rib pot metal sleeve shrouding a blue steel barrel, blue steel cylinder, rod, hammer, trigger and internal parts encased in a pot metal receiver. Grips are Pachmayrs for Colt I Frame, the Python, also a Vent Rib target revolver. They fit fairly well, with a considerable amount of gap on the backstrap area that might be corrected with some time. This RG 36 T is probably only Good finishwise, as the photos show, since there is a substantial amount of whitening to the sides of its barrel shroud and scouring on the sides of the frame’s enamel finish. Action is traditional double and single action, and this revolver does have a transfer bar mechanism to help prevent accidental firing if the hammer spur gets struck. Mechanically, it is as good as they get. The cylinder times correctly in all six positions, and there is no lateral play to the cylinder with the trigger pulled all the way. Bore and cylinder chambers are bright, clean, and excellent. Not only is this a decent cheap revolver, it is somewhat locally historic. Its original owner was no doubt a fine upstanding citizen of nearby Gibson County, Tennessee; but his young relatives were quite another story. We still have the confiscation container where the local Patrolman took it off the subject in 2002. We’re offering this serviceable, distinctive RG 36 T Revolver for only $ 169.95.
