Up for auction is a genuine Inland Guide Lamp Manufacturing division of General Motors FP-45 "Liberator". For those unfamiliar with the gun it was produced only for about 11 weeks in 1942 with a total production run of about a million. Intended to be air dropped behind enemy lines the guns were never used as intended with the exception of some being sent to China and even fewer given to Greek resistance fighters. The vast majority were turned to scrap after the war. This example is in very good condition. It includes the often missing floor plate. 4 inch smooth bore barrel chambered in 45 ACP. No serial number. Although I have never fired the gun it works as designed and I'm sure that if you had the nerve it would operate as intended. I purchased this gun approximately 30 years ago and since then it has been properly stored and shown. It always creates a buzz when people see it and learn about its history.
