Colt Trooper Mark III .22LR Customized by Cylinder & Slide

Here is a Colt Trooper Mark III with 8-inch barrel, in 22 Long Rifle and Colt’s Electroless Nickel finish, or Colt Guard. This pistol has an interesting history, as it was “taken” from the Colt factory. I purchased the pistol in 2003 from a “Colt retiree” who stated the pistol was a retirement gift and due to his current situation, he wanted to sell it. He was sitting with two owners of a Michigan Gun Shop who handled the sale for him. I will provide a photocopy to the buyer of this pistol, of the Bill of Sale. As I was soon transferred out of the state I did not actually shoot the “New in Box” pistol until I had relocated to Texas. Once I fired it, I knew something was wrong. I contacted Cylinder and Slide to have them review the pistol and provide an action, trigger job. During the two years I waited in Cylinder & Slides' cue I contacted Colt’s Archive Dept. After several months of waiting, I received my archive request with my uncashed check back. The response was very vague. I called the Colt Archive Dept and asked to speak to a supervisor and he told the gun never left the factory (officially). I did find that the frame was produced in 1980 and was  asked if I could find any Quality Dept. stamps. Per his description of what the stamps should look like, I informed them that there were no stamps. I was told then, the gun most likely was removed from the factory illegally. He called it a” Lunch-Box Gun” and proceeded to tell me how Colt has beefed up security to eliminate such activity from occurring in their current manufacturing facilities.

Cylinder & Slide worked on the gun for an extended period, also I ended up providing a new “in white” cylinder and barrel new. “In White” usually means a flash coating of copper. The new parts were installed and the action smoothed plus new springs added. Only after assembly and tuning were the barrel and cylinder sent out for nickel plating to match the original components. I have copies of Cylinder & Slides' work order, invoice, target photo’s (before and after) which I can provide to the purchaser of this pistol. When I received it back it shoots like a smooth precision custom pistol. This pistol has less than 80 rounds through it. I also procured a set of Colt Elite grips for the pistol, to enhance the look and handling of the pistol. I will include the original Pachmayr rubber grips with gold Colt medallions. There is a box, hang tag, warranty and manual included. The box does not have the any label on the end per the explanation above.

I am selling some of my pistols as I do not shoot as much these days, I can entertain serious offers, but it is not imperative I sell it. Owners of Colt pistols are aware of the expert craftmanship that Cylinder & Slide offers as well as the 1-2 year waiting periods to obtain their services. My Shipping (UPS Next Day Air), includes packaging and handling as I have a 30 mile one way to deliver the pistol to the UPS airport office. I will accept Cashiers Check or Postal Money Order. Once cleared and if the buyer is not an FFL, I will need a copy of an up to date FFL license, I will ship to FFL holder's address. Any questions or additional photos' needed? Please do not hesitate to contact me.
