Description: Top of barrel reads (Remingtion Arms Co. Ilion, N.Y.)This 3 didgit serial # one line address Gun is in good condition, with hinge intact (not broken or fractured);comes with two holsters as shown also two bullets which will fire tho not recommended.I just shot two rounds to test and it shot fine. Ammo is very hard to find so suggest saving the two rounds for display.This very popular and unique-looking superposed, two-shot derringer was manufactured by Remington Arms for many years, beginning in about 1866 and continuing until perhaps as late as 1935. An extraordinarily practical and simple design with a bare minimum of moving parts, this .41 short Rimfire-caliber derringer was the brainchild of William H. Elliot. Each barrel fires individually by means of a pivoting firing pin that is operated by a ratchet. Through the action of the ratchet, each time the hammer is cocked the firing pin is pivoted up or down, allowing it to contact the rim of a shell in either the upper or lower barrel. This pocket-sized spur-trigger derringer was produced in a blue finish, with hard rubber, grips. The finish now turned to brown 40%.I am selling this for a friend that got it from his Uncle's estate.
