The top of the barrel reads: "King's Improvement Patented March 29, 1866, October 18, 1860." This rifle is in great shape given the age. The bore has little to no visible signs of use! Overall the wood and metal finish are far above average for the few of these rifles out there. Indeed a classic old rifle as well as a piece of American history.
